I might have blown it but it sure tasted good! I broke down (hungry AND grocery shopping AND nearness = bad) ) and hit the Taco Bell for some beans. I watered 1/2 of them down big time with some FF sour cream, but DANG they were goooooooood. That was about 3 hours ago. I'm still full. They did have the FF refried beans which I bought, and some taco sauce and cheese. I'll stick that in the blender the next time I have an urge. They also has some ham broth powder. I bought some black beans so I'm going to blend the beans, ham powder and FF SC and see how that goes. And I bought a new (REAL) scale and even at night it's showing I've lost 6.4 pounds total! I'm going to weigh again in the morning and change my ticker.

LOL! My mother used to make this awful faux Chinese stuff. She faithfully gave me the recipe when I got married. 25 years later, I have NEVER made it I don't think they're called Salmon Sensations but they are the same concept - a nice piece of fish in various sauces. I think I got a ginger one and a lemon dill the last time I did some REAL grocery shopping. They were in Walmart which here, is the biggest so-called grocery store we have. They were right next to the tuna. And much better than salmon patties (which I love, hehehe), IMO

[quote=BubbleButt;415421 Tuna (Sensations) 5oz for lunch (130 cal) Those things are going to be my lifesaver once I can eat "real food". I LOVE them. They have salmon too. For someone who doesn't cook, they are a dream come true

I know, I know...I guess the mail problem I also have is that I DO travel a lot. If I schedule fills where I have several weeks between fills and trips, I won't be going anywhere!!! And I'm ASSuming these problems could arise with the band already there, right? We are headed to London and Ireland. I'm going to see if I can get a fill a week earlier than the 6 weeks - that will give me 2 weeks to see if there's a problem AND give me time to rectify if there is. If I can't, then I'll hold off until I get back - though then I have 2 more trips planned over the next 2 weeks

That's my FIRST thought but then I don't want to be eating like a pig (which I've been known to do - I didn't get this weight eating carrot sticks and rice cakes) and gaining the few pounds I've lost back. That would be VERY depressing mentally. *sigh*. I guess I have a couple of weeks to see if there's any restriction at all as it is now and go from there. Thanks

I have been doing the protein shakes and Protica. Once I can start eating food I'll make sure to add lots of fish

I am TRYING to get one before the 6 weeks since I'll be leaving the country a week after when a 6 week fill would happen. I'm known in the family for getting outside a drivable area and getting into medical trouble (in fact, they were worried about Mexico - especially when my Dad's fortune cookie the night before said "You will be hearing from a distant relative", lol) so I'm probably overly cautious. I will also be traveling with friends and I don't want to put a damper on their trip or be a "whiner".

Thanks for the info I'm going to do what I can to get one early. I do NOT want to find out I have a problem thousands of miles from home. I think I can "pull the wool" over my friend's eyes. One friend I'll be visiting is a large girl and I plan on talking to her about it. I've learned who to tell and who not to tell, lol.

I just got my band so maybe my expectations are low, but I can't see me EVER being able to just eat 600 calories a day for the rest of my life. I'd rather lose slowly on something I can do FOREVER than live off yogurt. JMHO.

You folks getting fills before the first 6 weeks give me hope. Now I just have to talk the doctor into it I MUST have swelling. I got into a pair of jeans yesterday - first time not in stretchies since the surgery - and they were just as tight around the waist as always. My stomach is where I ALWAYS lost first. In fact, I have trouble at almost any weight with my butt/thighs being so unproportionally bigger than my waist (why oh why aren't hourglass figures popular any more?? ). On my scale - which is iffy - I've lost 6 pounds since surgery and I lost 6 pounds pre-op. These should be fitting better!! (yeah, I know there's probably swelling - I'm just ranting )

March 5th - Banding day at age 23
FurEllie replied to Exude's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have fat free refried Beans on my grocery list (they used to sell them - I hope they still do). I figure if I stick those in the blender with some picante or taco sauce and some sour cream, I can "pour" it enough to make it legit I LOVE Chipotle. Closest one is about 60 miles away but I'd get one of their burritos and eat it for 3 meals. Not bad for less than $6! -
March 5th - Banding day at age 23

I was banded the same day I still have SOME pain at what I think is the port. It's not where I THOUGHT the port was so who knows. But not enough to take pain pills. I rarely sleep on my side so that's been VERY easy to adjust to. I seem to have a head cold/sinus infection/allergies and have been dripping, sneezy and with a headache. The mental hunger is driving me nuts. I know I'm not REALLY hungry, but I also know if I didn't have this band I'd be ordering a large pizza - and eating it. Thank you band -
I've been full liquids for a week now (8 days to be exact. Not that I'm counting.....). Like BB said, this is the time to listen to the doctor. I do NOT want to screw up what I paid a lot of money and time to get done!

I have more gas today than I think I had right after the operation  Must have been that cream of broccoli soup. Darn it.
-
I read a post about these and ordered them - a LOT better than the Isopure clear IMO. Smaller portion size to get a decent amt of Protein, better tasting and they don't have that weird afterfeel in your mouth like Isopure gave me: http://www.protica.com/store/ I ordered the two different samplers. That's probably what I'll get again because I like the variety. Not cheap, but worth it to me. Hope this helps someone :girl_hug:

Mine was in Tijuana which is really so close to the border that everywhere I went accepted US dollars. Even the hotel would print out a US dollar bill for food. I took about $50 in cash. Some of the change back was in pesos but Momma Ortiz would exchange it for you if she had it
-
I have a LOT of Asian noodle soups in the pantry. I'm about 1/2 a second away from making them and eating the liquid. I'm so sick of cream of broccoli, potato and broths, lol. Edit to add - the only reason I'm hesitating is because I'm not 100% I have the willpower not to each SOME of the noodles!!
-
Did you want it done at 5 weeks or your doctor? If if was you, how did you convince the Dr? I would LOVE to have mine at 5 weeks so I have 2 weeks to get "used" to eat before traveling (especially since I'll be traveling w/ people who don't know I've been banded). Any info you have would be greatly appreciated
-
That would imply that I EVER cleaned my house. I live in a dog hair/dust invested pit, lol. And laundry? I only washed what I KNEW I was going to need during the next week - I have a huge pile of dirty laundry on my bedroom floor right now
-
Give me a couple of months and I can send you 18/20 I'm HOPING to get into a 16 sooner than that, but I want to wear the 18s for awhile and have them feel baggy, lol

He'll get the people with insurance who live near him. Like my doctor explained, the reason why it's so high and you really get less supervised time healing is because of the absurd amounts of malpractice rates the doctors here get charged. Especially if insurance is covering you - they want you in and out. You KNOW the Drs in Mexico aren't losing money even though they're charging as little as less than 1/2 of what's charged here. Plus I'm sure outside the surgeons/medical doctors, labor is less expensive. There were 4 of us with Dr. Ortiz and 2 nurses. That's 2 nurses each who were there with us the entire 24 hours and were never more than 50 feet away. I've been in enough hospitals and doctor offices where that's pretty unheard of in the US. As recently as a few years ago I know I hit the nurse call button (the only time in 2 days) and it took an hour to get a nurse. In addition, many of the nurses were "traveling nurses" who only came to fill in. I was getting blood transfusions and only true employees of the hospital could give them to me and 2 had to do it. It would take hours to track 2 down. And NO ONE can tell me there are nicer men on the planet than in Mexico - and they DO love women with some curves :girl_hug: I loved my experience - does it show, lol?! :girl_hug:
-
I believe you're right :girl_hug: Correct spelling (only because I looked it up): promethazine
-
Did your OB/GYN weigh you? Mine always does (darnit) and it seems like that would be proof enough you were overweight then.
-
That was actually one of the reasons I DID choose Mexico - I wanted to stay overnight. Apparently this isn't standard in the US unless you have complications. I live alone in a very remote area so if I was sent home at 11 and had problems, I'd be in BIG trouble. Being there at the clinic for 24 hours just gave me a better feeling. But I'm a big baby :girl_hug:

Someone mentioned here (or another board) to get a prescription from your doctor to keep in the house for nausea due to something besides the ban (virus, flu, food poisoning, etc.). It starts with a P but wasn't Phenergan. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to see what he can do.
