  1. I tried searching, but couldn't figure out the right words to get an answer. I'm almost 3 months out and have had absolutely no issues until this past week. It seems like everything/everytime I eat I'm having much more nausea than I've ever had (really none up to this point). One morning I ate cottage cheese, just like I do almost every day, and immediately threw up. Several times since, I'm getting really gurgly stomach, sweating, and feeling sick to my stomach. This has been going on for about a week. There's no "pain", just nausea. It's making me extremely uninterested in eating or drinking anything. It's just so strange, up to this point, I've really had such a stellar experience, I'm concerned. Thanks for any insight and/or advice.

    Just a question regarding eating

Sugar free koolaid helped me get my water intake in those first few weeks!
  3. I also never had a problem before surgery. I get a burning sensation in my throat if I don't take the PPI. I've also heard it's normal 3-6 months and up to a year after surgery.

    Low carb versus low calorie

I'm basically just avoiding simple carbs. Complex carbs in fruit and whole grains have so much nutritional value that they're necessary. Now, I do watch them and keep track of them.....so, basically it's kinda like a diabetic diet. No more than 30 carbs from complex carbs in a meal. I usually end up around 75 a day.
  5. Congratulations!!!!!

    100 + pounds

I'm so grateful to have had this surgery. I'm already feeling so much better. I started my journey at 298, the highest I have ever been. I'm currently 252, about 2 1/2 months out. I'm already off diabetes meds and one of my cholesterol meds.....and have halved by BP meds. I have more energy and am already sleeping better. I'm getting my life back!!!!!

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

I was 38 on the day of my surgery and turned 39 10 days later. I'm going to stay part of this group until the very last minute, lol!!! Although, I'm looking forward to turning forty and being FABULOUS by that time next year!!!

    Regretting surgery

I've found that sugar free popsicles are a lifesaver for me when I feel nauseous.
  11. For me, this has been the best thing ever! I have been struggling with weight gain for the last 8 years, and was finally diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. This surgery is working so well for me. I have done every diet known, only to lose a few pounds and gain it back + some. Since surgery, my energy levels have increased tremendously, I haven't needed any diabetes meds, I just got taken off BP meds, and after another blood test in 3 months, I may be taken off cholesterol meds as well. My periods have already become "normal" (shorter and less heavy) and on time! I feel like a new person already!

Yaz and other BC Pills for PCOS

My word of caution....I actually got a blood clot in my leg and one in each lung from taking Yaz. I have no other blood clot indicators (no sticky blood, no clot disorders). I was traveling internationally often, but I made sure to get up and walk around during the flights. I took blood thinners for 6 months, stopped Yaz, and have not had a clotting issue since. They watched me very closely after surgery, and I did not have any issues. So, to me, Yaz is not worth the risk.

    Wedding Dress REVEAL!

Huge congratulations to you! You look absolutely fabulous. thank you for sharing your blog. I can totally relate to what you mean about, "big, but not......" I, too, never thought it was "that bad", but know that it is. Now that I'm going down, I'm already feeling so much better. More energy, self esteem is slowly coming back. I still have a long way to go, but for the first time in a long time I feel hopeful! Wishing you a happy married life!

    Who was your doctor?

I had surgery with Dr. Naim @ Advance Bariatric. His bedside manner is not great, but he's a great surgeon. His PA is very good to work with, so I don't mind his lack of "warm, fuzzy" skills. I have had no complications or complaints.
  15. Mine was 1 day clear liquid, 4 weeks full liquid, 1 week puree & 1 week soft/mushy; after 6 weeks anything as toleratecd.
  16. Cheri---I relate to that statement so much! I too was turning from a fun-loving, social, good friend into a hermit because I was so depressed about the weight that just kept coming on. I'm starting to feel like myself again, too, and it's such a great feeling!
  17. I'm so happy that your little one is doing so well. Seriously, you look fantastic. I, for one, am so grateful for all that you've shared. I can only hope to have such success! Wishing you the very best!
  18. My progress is almost exactly the same. Surgery Weight: June 7th - 298 One Month: July 7th - 268 Two Months: August 5th - 258 Good luck!
  19. Just wanted to add my thank you......you're motivating me to up my game.....I've found myself getting lazy and procrastinating on my workouts......no more! I'm getting off the couch and working toward getting a butt like yours! lol
  20. That is so awesome!!! I can't wait to be there
  21. That is so awesome. I too have severe PCOS, and while I'm not quite as quick as you, I'm so happy at 8 weeks out being down 42 lbs! I have had much better periods, no diabetes meds, and lower cholesterol & BP meds as well. I am soooo glad I made this decision!

    Diabetes

I've had similar great results. I was told to only take my metformin after surgery if my levels were 180+. This has not happened once since surgery.....my levels are staying in the 80-110 range almost constantly. I'm so happy I made this decision!
  24. Thank you for your inspiring post. Your journey has been incredible, and it gives me a renewed sense of motivation just when I needed it!!!! Wishing you continued success!
