Sorry, that would be restriction, not restruction
-
I had surgery May 18 and was lucky to be able to move to mushies a week earlier than expected. The dietician at my surgeon's office defined "mushies" as anything that I can cut easily with a spoon. I am doing pretty well. I do get a bit hungry, but am keep my portions to around 1/2 cup and chew, chew, chewing. My first fill isn't until 6 weeks post op. A bit nervous about the "bandster hell" that I've read about. Hope that if it does strike that I can white knuckle it until I get some restruction.

A little bit discouraged.....
Tlynn1973 replied to nomorejellybelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seeing a gain when you are doing everything right is frustrating. Try to focus on how far you've come. That is a huge accomplishment! Please don't get discouraged. You are so close! -
The dietician at my surgeon's office said at this stage, I can eat anything that I can easily cut with a spoon. Meat, etc. should be blended. Cottage cheese has been my go-to mushy food. I was banded 5/18 and get my first fill 6/27. I think I'll be more than ready by then. Best wishes as you continue your journey,

That is a tough call and one I struggled with myself. It is apparent that you have done your research and didn't come to this decision lightly. I don't know your family, or how supportive they would be of your lap band journey. I ended up telling my parents and my two sisters. I knew that my sisters would support me, but wasn't so sure about my mom. I thought about lying and saying that I was having gallbladder surgery or something similar. However, I decided that I'd bite the bullet and tell her the truth. I approached my mom with the argument that my decision to do this was well-researched, and that it would improve my health, in the long run. Better health would mean that I would be able to care for my family for years to come. She didn't agree with my decision, but understood why I made the decision. I hope that your family is supportive. I know that it would be hard to have the people closest to you questioning your decision. I wish you all the best as you continue your lap band journey Tracey

Lap Band & Anti-Depressants?
Tlynn1973 replied to kerryon1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I take Zoloft for depression and haven't had any issues so far. I was just banded 5/18, so don't have any experience with how it will work after fills. My nurse practitioner at my surgeon's office advised that if the pill is the same size or smaller than an extra-strength Tylenol capsule, it should work OK with the band. Good luck on getting banded -
can i drive myself to surgery?
Tlynn1973 replied to falcon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The surgicenter staff required that I have someone with me before and after the surgery. While I was in the OR, they told my husband that he could go grab a sandwich. Other facilities might differ in their policy. I was pretty functional by day 3 post op. Everyone recovers at a different rate. Good luck on getting banded! -
3 into pre-op and going crazy
Tlynn1973 replied to Hydun2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. It does get better. I am on day 14 of preop diet (getting banded tomorrow morning), and it is getting to the point where my cravings are pretty much gone. Just keep the goal in mind. I put up a marker board on my fridge and wrote "I can do anything for X more days." It helped me. Best wishes as you continue your journey. -
Day 9 of pre-op liquid
Tlynn1973 replied to malta760's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started my preop diet today. My surgeon has me on 2 protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, then small portion of lean protein and small portion of veggies for dinner. -
Did anyone have problems with nausea and vomiting with pain medication after surgery? I have had one bad episode with codeine and am nervous about the post op pain medication. Thank you.

I've added liquid Tylenol to my list. Thank you for your advice!
