    Tips & Tricks!

First, I wouldn't put the 6-9 month time frame on it... just eat right and exercise. Write it down, measure and weight now and then... remember stalls happen, some lose all their weight quickly, especially the guys... but some do not. If you reach goal at two years does that make you a failure? No way! Just live your life and the protein first rule, the no drinking after eating rule, and the get some exercise in rule DO help a lot. The weight comes off slower and slower as time goes by. That is OK.

    Back On Track Thread

I am also struggling... my knee is still bum... going back to the sports med person tomorrow... we will see what she says... I am back on Southbeach.. hoping to get away from some of my unhealthy eating habits . I do feel better already and have lost 3 pounds, but I was up almost 14 pounds from my lowest... OUCH. The cute pants are tight. I don't like. Not being able to exercise as much does not help.... I was on TV twice this weekend, helping out at an art auction for the local PBS station... they say it adds 10 pounds, but I have to say even with the 14 pounds, I looked a heck of a lot better than I would have without the sleeve! I have started cooking for myself in the morning before work, this really has helped me in the past keep the food healthy and filling. Thanks for listening girls!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday! Sometimes the world conspires to set you up with lemon cake and sugar cookies! I'm glad you enjoyed flirting with cookies on your birthday, you are NOT married to them, it was just a fling... and I bet the scales will not be too shocking, you will get right back on track and be just fine. Love the oatmeal statement, very funny!
  16. Look up hair loss on the search, most lose hair during weight loss... it does slow down and stop at some point. I am at 20months and my hair is not back to normal yet... it is growing back though....
  17. Thanks so much for the thoughtful message Dorrie! You are right... This morning I started cooking up some food that will help me to keep the carbs down, I cut up a bunch of veggies and stocked the fridge to make choices easier. I went out yesterday and bought glucosamine, acitomenophin(sp?) and ice packs. I don't know what helped, but after laying on all three, my knee pain went WAY down. Fingers crossed, this method will help in the future too! I also made a list of all the things that I need to get done... and things I LOVE to do, and am going down the list and lightening my mental load. Thanks for being there... I have been in a bit of a tail spin the last few weeks....

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread

Right there with you ladies! Gained around 8-9 pounds in the last 4 months, eating and exercise habits disrupted for sure... it is a day to day struggle... I try to get on the scale every day, and write the intake down...(got out of the habit of doing that for a few weeks) It really helps to keep on top of the reality of whats going in the pie hole!!! (They don't call it that for nothing!)
  20. Went on vacation in May 2012... and my mom in law and sis in law came for a 3 month visit. This was all fun. The problem for me started there though. My eating and exercise "Rut" was keeping me on the straight and narrow, and the rut went out the window when the inlaws showed up. During this time I started having worse and worse pain in my knee, and found out it was bone on bone in one spot. This crashed my exercise (the dance classes, not the walking thank goodness!) I gained about 5 pounds. Then my best friend died, and my lil'dog went to the vet and we found she has some kind of liver probs... $670 later... I started to eat my emotions for sure. I am up about 8-9 pounds at this point... I am still in the same size, but it is a little tight. I want to eat junk like no ones business. On the up side, I am going to physical therapy and am back to dance class half time. I do hope this will pass with will and healing. The sleeve is a fantastic tool, and I am sooo a success... but honestly, that 8-9 pounds is a downer. Last night my husband told me as a compliment that my but is coming back. OUCH! Thanks hun. Mixed blessing.

    Who's Become A "nut-Ie"?

Im not a fanatic, however I have come to deeply love getting into my body, and helping it to move with more freedom... I got bone spurs as of late in my knee, and it took months to get the Dr app, then the Sports medicine app, then the physical therapy apps...I missed many dance classes over that time and SOOO missed them. I am back in class now, and am getting physical therapy once a week for a while...and learning about the weakness in my structure that hopefully will be gone soon! Love learning about the body!

    I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

Thanks guys, I had a blast! The guy I had a secret crush on during highschool even asked me to dance... hubby didn't mind a bit. Thanks Hubby!
  25. Im having the same thing happen. I know when I eat carbs, I want carbs, this is part of it. I have been half way off the track with my exercise, but went to a physical therapist two days ago, and am looking forward to improving my ability to do more activities. It is work, thats for sure, but still Its so much better than before surgery! Good luck with the struggle Dorrie!
