Weight Loss Advice 'ignores Body Changes'

There is a drop down menu with descriptions of exercise types, you chose one for your job, and one for your extra activities(gym and such)Go there and see for yourself! Its kind of fun to see what comes up for you! You have to scroll down the article a ways till you get to the highlighted link that leads you to the app. Then you have to approve a download of an applet thingie... it opens in a window and you fill in the blanks.

    Is Sugar Toxic?

All I know is when I eat sugar/treats, I want more later on. This can be such a trap if Im not tracking and keeping accountable. I learned if I eat some protein with sugar it evens out the insulin spike and reduces my cravings later.

To track or not to track?

At one point years ago I made a vow to never track again! HaHaHAHA! I laugh in the face of that vow. I track every day, no mater if Im on track or not with what I eat... or going out, or on vacation (really hard to track then) ... I find when I have to write it down, Im not as likely to eat it in the first place if Im going to feel bad about it after. Its like I have a naughty little kid in my brain. Whatever works. I weigh and write it all down. The days/weeks/months where I have blown off the tracking, I'm more likely to gain. Thats how I put on the bounce weight... just eating 'normally' not writing it down. I wish I didn't have to, but I have come to accept this works the best for me at this time. I try not to obsess... I just do it. I am happy that it works!

Vets: Calling all consistent loggers on MFP!

I was on fitday for many years... just switched to MFP at the beginning of this year and like it so much better. My fitbit hooks up to MFP so I can keep track of my input and output and better balance them. LilMissDiva is there too FYI.

Weight Loss Advice 'ignores Body Changes'

you can lose your weight in 120 days at 734 cals and the expenditure level you are doing now...then maintain at 2300(still doing the sam exercises) this is a computer model, not tested on human.
  10. I would never recommend anyone use exercise as an excuse to lose accountability for their calories in-calories out ratio. As part of total accountability, eating exercise calories back can be part of keeping on top of this ratio. That is all I am saying. I don't want to deprive myself of nutrition or calories unnecessarily. I am cutting this deficit really close right now... I am close to maintenance... with some regain pounds to whittle off... so I am eating/exercising with a small deficit and have managed to edge down five pounds so far over a few months...after a year of gaining and not losing...while eating less.. this all with eating back most of my exercise calories. On days I don't get out and work it, I have to eat less. I also eat bread (a little), sweets (chocolate almost every day...a tiny amount)a drink now and then (maybe once a week or less. I also do not drink with meals,I weigh and/or measure my food, weigh myself every day, use a fitbit to log ALL exercise, list weights twice a week, walk at least twice a week and dance twice a week + gardening or whatever. Its the whole picture for me. I am not a person who wants to write everything down normally... but I HAVE to to make this work from my experience. When you don't eat your exercise calories, are you still logging them into your myfitnesspal or whatever? Are you accountable for that energy expended? Do you know how much energy expenditure you have? Just curious... I used to not count my expenditure, or eat back calories... but was out of touch with my expenditure at that time.

    Can't stop losing

I don't think this is accurate... moderation, accountability and yes, sometimes exclusion may be in order for the worst trigger foods..., but eating small amounts of variety in my opinion is the path to health and "normalcy"

    Can't stop losing

I am not a Doc, but thought of this when I read your post... Rabbit Starvation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation Others who have had a hard time stopping the loss (not me) here have said eat avocado, full fat milk and dairy and nuts... add a snack or meal.... All low fat protein can lead to starvation.

    3rd surgiversary approaching

I know... it just seems ridiculous sometimes! Thank goodness for the sleeve. I feel like I stand a chance with the sleeve in my toolbox.... and the fitbit and my dance teacher, the gym, and myfitnesspal...and a support system... and my sheer willpower? ...sometimes I think thats the smallest thing in my toolbox!

Satiety foods for post goal hunger?

I just want to say, you have done fantastic with your weightloss! Everyones weight loss slows down around where you are. I'm not going to give any advice, because I am still figuring it out myself at 28 months... still have to lose around 18 to get to goal.... it does seem to be heading there..S-L-O-W-L-Y-----(I'm talking a pound every 2 months...) When I started using a fitbit I found I had a better idea of my energy use....easier to balance my calories in calories out....(OOPS! I just gave some advice after all!)
  19. I don't know what to say Globe, my metabolism is pretty un-normal as well. That TDEE plan suggests backing off of cardio to a couple times a week and lifting weights instead.. build muscle, change your shape, burn more calories... its not about the scale as much as the look of your body....and you can eat more (= satisfaction) I need to lift more to really comply...and eat more too... but at this point I am seeing a minuscule drop at the scale, and the way my body looks is changing...so It MIGHT be working even with my moderate compliance...
  20. When I eat back my exercise calories I am STILL eating 500 calories a day less than I burn according to the charts and fitbit.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread

Congratulations! My dad just started that "fast metabolism" diet... the idea of going on a diet has been a turnoff for me for years... but he is loving it and lost 6 pounds in 7 days... can eat a bunch of food... but many restrictions too. Sounds mostly healthy...

    Coping...

It is very hard to rely solely on will power... take the time to prepare, or ask someone to do it for you...... healthy single serving snacks, single serving frozen meals, bottles of water in the fridge, Whatever it is that makes your life a little easier. Best of luck, these times are so hard.

My wagon got a flat tire..

Great story... been there in so many ways. I have a good friend in SC, Will try and make the Elkhorn slough next trip! I enjoy rowing, and have always wanted to try kayaking..even priced out kayaks at one point.....We have lots of sloughs here in the Delta, Sounds like so much fun!

My wagon got a flat tire..

Santa cruz has great birds! In the hills, by the creeks and lagoons.. and the ocean of course...Grab a guide book for California... many of them have a checklist in the back you can check off when you see the bird. Its fun! I went out yesterday along the American River Parkway (in Sacramento) and saw a bunch of birds, squirrels, jackrabbits and a rattlesnake! It was really cool to see and a great walk too.

    Hair Loss

I used biotin for a while with no success... Around the time when my hair stopped falling out in handfuls I was taking 50 mg zinc caps...it gave me an upset stomach so I quit after a week.... don't know if this made a difference, but shortly after that the hair loss stopped. I read somewhere that was the last ditch effort for stopping hairloss...after getting more Protein, biotin... I don't remember the rest of the list...I also started eating more calories. Actually, I think this is what did it. My body went out of starvation mode. Just my personal guess there...Perhaps it just took time. I'm not sure if it can be avoided... a few people say they don't have it happen... but many more say they do. Get yourself a great haircut, use a gentle root lift product if you need more volume.I used gentle shampoos and good conditioners and a hair catcher in the tub!
