How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for your honesty. This is a bloody hard road to hoe. I so feel for you. I admire your getting back on the drastic 600-800.. I couldn't do it myself... maybe twice a week... I feel like I could be where you are on the scale... it really seems so easy to gain, and so hard to lose. Best of luck to you my dear. -

I think you are doing well, and should be proud of yourself. After doing 5:2 and the 5 day pouch test, I am down 3 pounds currently.... it has been really hard to get the old body to take it off and keep it off... its 3 pounds is good, but still way above my old bounce range...(14 pounds).... I really am not sure what it will take, but just keep ploding on, and trying to do the protein first, increase my protein, drink enough water, eat more veggies to fill up after that.... lower the carbs, and the advice I have given others and myself for years now... WRITE it all down, good, bad, ugly.... use my fitbit, and try to keep it positive come what may. I think I must be producing a ton of cortisal... just feel like its coursing in my veins... stress and sad too much of the time... but did sort of see a bright spot today... a way to think that makes way for hope, and have been working on my art more than ususal, which is great! LIFE! what a bitc!-! and what a blessing! -

I hear your feelings about this, I just do not have the same response. When I dump a bunch of pounds very quickly from eating low carbs/calorie and high protein, it is mostly from water weight... no self depreciation at all.... it still feels fantastic, I am happy about it, and know that later weight loss (probably slower) will be fat, if Im eating and exercising right, and not muscle or water. No prob..... really what that statement means to me, is if I don't keep up the good work, it will show up back on in about a minute... still just water. -

HI guys, nice to see you all here... I have been working on some prints, drypoints. Here are some photos... the press, a pic of an inked up plate and a pic of the finished print. Its old school and so much fun. These are of a pair of earrings I bought in India years ago, I wear them most of the time and they show up in my paintings now and then too.... Got a few pound off... trying to stay on track... -

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!

I'm 11 days post op and my question is why does losing stop at 65%? I mean right now i can't each much more than 1/4 cup of anything at a time so I would think i just keep losing like forever lol You are in the honeymoon. Later, you can eat more, you WANT to eat more, you get bored with limited food choices, old habits show their ugly head. You may get to goal, just keep up the good work. If not, sooner, than later you might... it took me 3 years. I have regained 18-22 pounds twice... getting it off the second time right now... at 12 pounds over goal and sill a success. You don't and can't know how it is to be 3-4 years out untill your there. You have done the right thing, just take it a day at a time, Protein first, don't drink with or right after meals.... cut the carbs at least some.... get some exercise and enjpy the ride. Don't give up, its for life. -

HELP! Tasty Vegan Protein?
feedyoureye replied to SLF1027's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 5.5 pounds on the test recently. It was all water, but happy for it. As soon as I brought back some carbs, part of it came back, but not all of it! I also gained renewed faith in eating protiens. I am a vegetarian, so I have been using whey based protein powders... I reallly don't like the veggie ones much, mostly the texture. I used many kinds of fake meat, Explore Asia brand high protein pastas, nuts, eggs and egg whites, I use Dixie Diner brand Beef, turkey, chicken NOT! products, morning star frozen meatless meats, tofu (you can use in a shake as well) Trader Joes meatless products (just look at the protien to make sure it is up there) I have been following the 5:2 on and off for over a year, and am now doing a version of the 5 day test on my "fast" days. So far so good. I have found the no flavor soy protein powder OK to cook with, like in oatmeal, baked in muffins and such... check out the world according to eggface for good high protein recipes. -

How was your 5:2 day today?

I think it is important to make the changes that you can maintain. There has got to be room for strawberries and brown sugar if that is your pleasure. How about strawberries, with a drop of balsamic and a sliver of parm? Adding protein would be even better... if you like it. -

Sheryl, love that Docs point of view. Very down to earth, and non judgmental. Florinda, Italy! Wonderful. I really have the travel bug right now too.... congrats on getting in your 60.... I managed to get up to 87 today and 750 cals.... over my 550 5:2 limit, but the higher protein is good. Anyway, I have two awesome avocados sitting there waiting, I will have my 300 cal added day this weekend! -

When I eat protein heavy meals, I cant eat that much, and feel full for a decent amount of time. It does take some effort to eat enough protein... 75-90 gms.... I try to get at least 65..... but don't make it all the time... -

feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did lose 5 1/2 pounds, and as soon as I ate some carbs it started to come back. It was worth doing, I really saw how eating almost all protein and drinking enough water can work so well. I hope to follow through with more protein, and will use some form of it on my 5:2 days. -
http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html the results will not last unless you change your eating habits after finishing the test. It helps to get back onto a Protein first track.

I was 58 when I did this 4 years ago. If 50 is older than dirt, then what can I (61) be older than? -
Your profile says you have a band. You might be able to change that in your profile preferences....

6 month diet, prior to being sleeved
feedyoureye replied to byebyefat's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No, I was close to the lower end of the cutoff weight for being approved, so I just had to do two weeks of staying the same weight. I had however given them proof that I had done many diets in the past without lasting success. Best of luck!
