Love my fitbit one. Its my second fitbit. I find it really motivating. It has about 5 functions... steps, flights of stairs(elevation during hiking as well) sleep, activity level, calories burned, alarm, and it hooks up to a website that gives you results. It also hooks up with MyFitnessPal if you want it too, and MFP will add in exercise calories into your calorie total. If you do something that will not register right, like weights, upper body workout, gardening... you can add it on fitfit or MFP and it will over ride the step component to give you a more accurate reading of what your output is. It will upload on your phone or computer. I clip mine on my bra. I really use it everyday to get a more accurate picture of my "calories in/calories out"

I would have to agree... When the honeymoon period is over for a few months or so, it gives you some insights that you just cant have when you are earlier out from surgery. Being over a year out, in maintaniance for a few months will be the starting point of being a vet. There are some questions and experiences that just don't come up till even a couple of years out. The people on here that are in that phase have a different conversation going on... earlier we had conversations and questions that any newbie would have, what to eat, best Protein powders, how many calories, what about stalls.... after the honeymoon its more how to lose the last few pounds that just wont come off after 8 months of eating 1200 a day.... or, I have gained 25 pounds, and the old methods wont budge the weight, my hunger is back, I can eat more, and need a new plan, guilt or shame for "failing"...... these kind of things. Vets dont mind helping newbies, Vets helped me so much when I was new out of surgery, but answering the same questions over and over, that don't really have anything to do with what we are going through, is a bit of a drag after a while. So we started the Vets forum, to discuss those other issues that rear their ugly head after a year or so. I think this will be a rich resource for the people who are newbies now, but will see what we are talking about soon enough! The things that many of the Vets agree on is "At some point maintenance can become harder than losing the weight in the first place" and "This is going to be work the rest of my life, I can't just lose the weight, and forget it or I will gain weight" Thats what we are working on.

Give it a try! you are far enough out to try this plan. After a year or two or three some of us have still not gotten to our goal, or got to goal and have experienced a bounce of 10-25 pounds that we hare having a lot of trouble getting off, some of us have been useing the 5:2 and slowly getting some movement. It might be good for you, give it a try and if you like it you can join our 5:2 group if you like. Sometimes that stall can end up lasting for months and months. We just want to make sure people know that we don't think this is for people who are still under a doctors care, early out, before getting to a more mature place in the healing and weightloss process. Congrats on the 98 by the way! Great!

Went out with the dance girls after class for a pow-wow at a sushi restaurant. Had this lovely roll called the Popeye... but all the rice and soysauce got to me.... up 1.7 pounds. Fingers crossed its just the salt. Skipped alcohol and just had water. Only went over my allotted cals by about a hundred, not too bad really. Tomorrow is another day!

So I signed up yesterday, went there today and was not signed up.. I signed up again, and am waiting for approval. Miss Georgia, sign up for the other one with three members, I think your on the smaller 5:2....

I'm fasting too today. I woke up, forgot I'm fasting, lalalatrala....OOPS!! Ok, luckily I hadn't eaten anything yet. Protein decaf coffee for b and L, then a big bowl of Mex flavored tomato/veggie/ground fake meat/fresh corn soup for dinner. DREAMING of the minute I get to eat it!

I sure as heck hope walking is exercise! I have included it as a main form of exercise in my day. I use my car for transportation, so walking is to move me for other reasons. If you use a fitbit or other walking tracking device, the steps you take everyday do make a difference. It changes the way your body looks, even if it does only a little bit towards weight loss. Have you ever been at the point where you were in such bad shape that it was hard to walk? Walking is a fundamental exercise, but not a NO exercise. (2 cents) The more the better! (track it, its fun!)

I take dance classes and we do chest lifts and some other things that tighten the muscles around the neck. try tensing the neck, lift rib cage and upper chest and keeping shoulders down... then relax... maybe 20 times, then repeat . I can see the muscles in my neck tighten when I do this... this is what you are looking for. There are other exercises posted on the internet... including laying on your bed with your head hanging over, and doing "situps" with your head. Gently letting it fall back, then raising it so your chin is close to your chest and back again. Just take care with this one!

Things look a little better then they did at first.... I do exercises for my throat area, and it looks better than before!

I just have followed MFP suggested cal range to lose 1 1/2 pounds a week, and of course I didn't lose anywhere near that much... maybe a couple in months, but adding the two fast days to that has done the trick. I also eat most of my exercise cals back which takes my intake from 1200 a day up to 1300 or even more some days (1550) which is enough to not be hungry. I followed the TDEE plan for a while, gained 5 pounds and chickened out... I know that is normal for that plan, but I just didn't have the guts to go there. I did however LOVE eating more! I was never hungry on that plan.

Just jump right back in, you'll be fine! On my vacay, I did the 6:1 and ate out most meals, and still lost! -
Have you signed up yet? You start at the sign in or if you sign in automatically, you start on the HOME page. Click GOALS and fill in your goal info. Click on CHECK IN and fill in your weight and measurements. click on TRACK food This is where you enter your food for the day. Click ADD FOOD under the meal or snack you want to add too. a window will open that has a search form, and a list of recent or frequent items you have used in the past. Say you are looking for "ESA Carb control chocolate" or ketchup..... type it into the bar and click on the green search button. Some choice will come up, sometimes I like to find measurement choices, sometimes weight choices... you can often find more than one choice, and usually there is brand names or generic choices. click once on one and on the right side you will see a box where you can choose how many servings, and a drop down menu that gives you more choices. (such as Tablespoon, or cup) to modify your selection) this is where you estimate your small bits and pieces. I don't get to crazy here, but do my best to get close to my serving size. When you have this tweaked, you push the green ADD button. You will then see that the food has been added to your meal. This sounds complicated, but its pretty fast, and after you use something it shows up in your recent list, where you just chose it again... we have a tendency to reuse the same foods over and over. You can also add your own recipes, divided into serving sizes and other cool things. You can also add your exercise under the EXERCISE heading at the top of the page next to the FOOD. When you add exercise, MFP will add extra calories to your daily allotment, if you want to eat them back... I usually do!

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?

People love iced sugar Cookies because they are pretty, AND have a pure dose of sugar on top! Down one more pound. That makes 14 pounds of the (22pound) regain back off. Im 8 pounds from my lowest and only 13 pounds from goal. Pretty soon I'm going to have to kick the 16s to the curb (the belt tightening only works so long!) back solidly into the 14s, and will be back into my cute 12s in a few weeks. I felt like I was eating sooo much yesterday (normal day), but came out the other end 100 cals under plan. Eating 3 meals and two Snacks seems like so much next to 1 1/2 meals on fast days. Still, normal days are not TDEE days. They are way under that... for most of us. People on the regular 5:2 sites are eating closer to 2000 cals a day. We are not normal people, but luckily, this plan works for us too, when our normal is 12-1300 cals a day! ( I know some of you eat more) This is the sleeves real strength, I can eat 1300 a day and feel full if I'm eating the right things. Thanks Goodness for the Sleeve!

Every day. I decided I needed to use it as a tool, to remain conscience to the facts every day... even if they don't make a lick of sense at times! I don't let it push me around to much emotionally, I have worked hard at getting to be able to see it more as the facts, and not a reflection of my worth.
