I was never lactose intolerant before surgery, but was for the first several months after surgery.... try without for a few days and see how it goes. At around 4 months, I had no problem with dairy. -

179.8- Just saying, what a difference a .2 pound makes! 6 pounds to lowest, 5 more to "normal" BMI I have been looking for some specific pants.... I was even willing to shell out the big bucks (non thrift store prices!!) to get them.... well out looking for shoes (mind you I wear a size 12... as a shoe store manager once reminded me "nothing bigger than that shoe than the box!") anyway, I found the very pants I wanted at Ross... for $13! I didn't try them on.... they were in the Junior 11s.... and I figured for $13, I might stand a chance of losing into them (old story). I got them home, tried them on, looked pretty much like they were painted on, but I got the zipper and button done! And my husband, he went crazy, he kept making me look at my butt in the mirror! I even found three pairs of womens shoes... I usually wear mens! Im giving credit to all these things to the last .2 pounds! Girls, I am a little afraid of vacation....its going to be full of my foodie friends , LA restaurants, and a big after party where food is the name of the game..... I guess all I can really do is enjoy, and hit the damage control when I get back.... -

5:2 and fitness, staggering your routine to match your intake?
feedyoureye replied to Globetrotter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The book and other sources say that working out on fast days is a good thing... before eating. Then have a low cal protein drink or snack after your workout. When your in fat burning mode (glycogen is all used up from fasting all night) you will use more fat during exercise as fuel. -
Your start date and start weight for the 5:2 method

I used to NEVER give my weight away....My drivers license was such a 50 pound lie! At some point (around surgery time) I just gave it up and started to use the real number. It was pretty freeing. -

Great work girls! All your great results are keeping me on track today! I bounced a little this morning, but I know that will come off and I just might get into new territory this week. I'm also planning on an early fast day sunday, vacation starting monday, so I have to fit them in when I can. -

Ima! That sounds awful. I think putting the scale away, and keeping up on your 5:2 is just the ticket. In two weeks things will look much better! Im fasting today as well, We can do it! -

Glad your back on track Globe! -
Three miles is great! And elevation is that much better! Good work! I was at dance class tonight (wed and fri) We had a scare last week, we don't have enough students and the boss threatened to cancel the class... I had to think about what I would do if the class was canceled. The majority of exercise I do is my dance class and a walking class I lead twice a week (around 2 miles, with 6-9 adults with disabilities) I love both of these classes and they are my regular exercise... I also started birding in May... and walk around 2-3 miles two or so times a week with that. I HATE it when I have to exercise... but I love moving when its something I love. I have had to identify those things that I love to do. If those things were not right there and motivating.... I might just sit on the couch too.... like I did around 5 years ago when I turned 55, and realized I could hardly get off the couch and needed to make a change. The exercise was not enough for me to lose the weight, so thats when I went for the sleeve... the second tool in the toolbox.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do check out the Vets forum... many in the same boat working to get to goal or lose those reagained pounds. I never got to goal (close...) and had a22 pound regain... I am almost down to my origional low... using the 5:2 with lots of success and not too hard to follow. Sorry about your regain, please try this before you go under the knife, it might just do the trick! joly, seriously relax, you don't feel that much restriction until you are at solids. Even if you cant feel "full" don't eat till you feel full, eat by measuring and counting calories. You had nerves cut in your stomach, and you may not be able to feel full yet, until you actually heal up... maybe quite a bit later! Just slow down and follow your Docs and Nuts advice. Also, at 2-3 weeks many people go into a LONG stall (the 3 week stall its called) Mine lasted 4 weeks! This is normal! Just hang in there. Things will move soon. -
Don't laugh, my dad talked a plastic surgeon into giving him a rate for doing him and my mom! (him and her face lifts)

Are you telling me that the dreaded stall can happen while you are on the blessed 5:2!!!? BUMMER!! (Old hippie talk....) I have been lucky so far, but I'm sure its only a matter of time, I had a TON of 2-3-4 week stalls before the 5:2. -
:D that cracked me up! I belly dance... and my totally fit teacher tells me that I have a very good core, and control over my abdominal muscles.... but a BIG however.... when I do hip bumps, the old stomach just stays there, hiding my movements.... but will keep moving on its own when I stop the hip bumps! My butt also love to move without me asking it too... like a bowl full of Jello in an earthquake!

I think you look fantastic! And your mom is a doll, she looks really sweet! You know, when you let yourself feel proud of your accomplishments, and proud of the body that lets you do so much... it shows. It shows in how we dress, hold ourselves upright, how we move and how we laugh! When we can OWN our body and life, we shine!

...so I lost another .1 pound today. Its like finding a penny on the ground, eventually they will add up to a dollar! Here is an idea for next time. (and you know there will be an next time) Take two chocolates, wrap them up and put them in your desk. Save them for tomorrow, because on this plan you can do that! What? Did I miss some horrible thing you did? -

I mostly use Stevia, but the studies are saying that ANY sweet taste will trigger the bodies hormone response to sugar... so it may still cause insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome..... Its the sweeting of our food in general, whatever kind that is the problem , not the chemical composition of the sweetener..... BIG SAD FACE. I am trying to just cut some of my sweet choices during the day... I used to like unsweetened ice tea.... not any more! I'm working on getting back to that..... -

Fast was around 575.... seems to still work for me, I usually eat pretty light the morning after. Lost my bounce--- to .2 pounds under my 5:2 low. Only .4 pounds from the 170's.... I'll get there yet! It feels so good to feel like there is hope that what I'm doing will work! And really, the BIG point of this is better quality of life into old age.... -
husband, family, sig others...and the 5:2 lifestyle
feedyoureye posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So after my husband gave me a load of **** yesterday about talking about "dieting" all the time and who cares and get a life and such, he said he needed to lose some weight and improve his liver. (he's a big strong guy with a ton of muscles and a pretty unhealthy eating habit-about 30% fat) I had sent him a link to the life extension program that the 5:2 plan was started from... and he actually queued it up and we watched it together. I gave him the the book, and he said " I don't need that" but I left it lying around anyway just in case he wants a look see when Im not in the room! (stubborn?) His answer is that "You cook everything for me and I will eat it." But the problem there is he hates about half of what I cook, and has told me so in no uncertain terms, and so I don't cook much for him- except a few things I know he likes- or he will eat the measured out healthy food I have cooked, then belly up to the snack bar and make a stack of cheese/jam sandwiches with a side of mashed potatoes or something. The man is a trained chef, so I don't feel too bad letting him cook for himself, but he has no self control or motivation.... (there is a twinkle there of wanting to get more healthy and improved energy- fingers crossed!) So I have a scale that measures body fat, and he set it up to check his, and figured out I had mine set as a male! He changed that for me...(boohoo, my body fat measurement went from 25 to 30 ) I'm hoping there might be a hope in hell that he might be the right type for the 5:2 (eating what you want for 5 days a week!) and maybe if I cook for him two days a week, he might make it work) He can do what he wants, hes an adult, but I do worry about his "death wish" as far as his eating habits go... I want him to be healthy for as long as he has! -
Is anyone doing the ADF version of 5:2?

How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Fasting today, so far so good. This morning was up a little, but If I can knock off 1.3 pounds this week, I will be in the 170's, new numbers which is a little voodoo boost for the morale. If not this week, then perhaps next! My all time low after WLS was 174... so heading in the right direction. Vacations coming up, so I really am motivated to stick with this now.
