How was your 5:2 day today?

152.2!? fantastic girl! Spelt: ancient species of wheat from the fifth millennium BC. Spelt was an important staple in parts of Europe from the Bronze Age to medieval times. Its just an early type of wheat, before wheat was hybridized and genetically modified to death. Rolled like oatmeal for quicker cooking.... in my rice cooker. I am always working to replace the "chocolate chip cookie" in my diet with something that is a little bit better for me... 67% chocolate chocolate chips, walnuts and oatmeal or spelt.... kind of does the job without too much sugar or junk. Go to in the face of extra sever head hunger! awww... just got on the scale, day after fast... same number. I feel skinnier! Was thinking there might be a drop, but not this time... -

OD, so glad you figured out what was going on! Georgia, tell that bug to get lost for me will ya? Laura, Like I said, I don't know where its going to come from! End of Fast day, 437.... I could only eat half of my dinner... and SO glad I had some more calories to eat later... STRESS eating... I had a long talk with dad... about a bunch of stuff... MUST HAVE food. I reached for some left over rolled spelt, added some chocolate chips and PB. Honestly, is was so yummy, and still came in under 500. PHEW! Got out of that like a champ. Found a senior care counselor on line, we talked on the phone tonight, and she was very helpful. -
Not 1 person has told me it looks like I've lost weight! I'm sad :(

Lots of reasons people don't comment, they don't see, they don't care, They are jealous, they like you better fat...(I had a guy tell me this early on... I think you looked better the way you were!) I don't know how long you were at goal with the band, but perhaps you know, the compliments slow down in time, and people just start thinking of you as "normal" and don't comment. Perhaps they didn't even notice you had gained... or just didn't want to go there.Compliments are fun, but you and you husband can see whats going on with your body, and really, thats whats important! -

Yesterday was the second birthday in a row at work. Homemade cake. I ate. Then made an eggplant dish with lots of oil and salt.....Home grown veggies.... I did stay right around my calorie goal, but more fat and carbs and SUGAR. The scale stayed the same... wonder what it would have been if I hadn't gone the way I did (my mouth does not agree that these ingredients were a problem...) .... anyway fast today, looking forward to it! Enjoy your day all! -
I think sometimes you just have to eat and sleep! I have had that feeling before... I know I don't get enough sleep most of the time.... I bookmark the page that has the new posts for the group highlighted, I just go to the bookmark and I'm there.

Your start date and start weight for the 5:2 method
feedyoureye replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So that averages 1150 a day... You are also working out every day? This seems plenty low in the calorie department... Stay away from that damn scale lady! 20 days. I forget, you got this in Mexico? Do you have a doctor you can go back to at some time to figure this out? Write down your efforts, and you will have something to take to him/her your efforts.... -
WANT the Sleeve - but is it worth it for 60 lbs at age 60?
feedyoureye replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 60. Its one of the best things I have ever done for my health. I did it at 57 1/2, but close enough. It is not a miracle cure, but with some hard work into the future, you can have a new lease on life. The chances of a leak are VERY small, but real, the chances of other co-morbidities are much higher if you stay overweight. Your hubby is worried for you, but seriously, he should be worried for you if you don't do it. The chances of losing the weight and keeping it off are much worse without the sleeve. Good luck! -

Thanks Georgia! Its getting there, I am kind of high waisted, so really thats what you can see in the pic, I always buy dresses and blouses that nip in just under the boobies! Works a charm! I have to say though, the 5:2 has cut my waist some, and my belly dance classes are paying off in that department as well. -

You go girls! Lovely poem, beautiful truthful confessions and thoughts. Thanks all. Fasting today. Already posted what I'm going to eat tonight... Thinking ahead! a few days ago I went through my photos, looking for "fat me" photos... most of the "bad ones".... really just the less flattering ones.... were gone....deleted quickly... the "good ones" were there, but did not really show the real everyday me... hiding my real shape back then...I went back and found my "before" -pics... the ones I took in the bathroom mirror... in a bra..... wow. It was humiliating to take them...I feel sorry ofr me looking at them now! I only found the strength because I knew I was changing things soon with WLS. My body has really changed. I can complain about my floppy tummy, and the other odd and end flaps and bumps, but they are NOTHING like what I had before. I am so at goal compared to those photos. Even though I am still me, I am no longer trapped in the same body and mostly, not trapped in the same mind... but now and then, the old self loathing kicks in... looking at those before photos really gave me some perspective.....That girl deserved love and compassion as much as I do now... same to you guys... don't forget it! -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found taking the time is really important. If I cook most of my food, I am way more in control of what I put in my mouth. Also if you don't already do it, log what you do eat... in MFP or something. Seeing for yourself what you eat, healthy or junk, is really powerful. I log it all, and when I don't, I usually gain. Later, when your hunger goes up and it is easier to gain, you will be happy that you have this habit. -

I went there. Yesterday I was jonesing for Mexican, was going out to pick some art supplys up and walk the dog and planned to go ahead and go out for Mex at my fav place. Taco salad. It was delish, I could only eat half of it if that, and went home and logged it. This morning I was up a pound, but really I did not ear 3000 cals extra and know it has to be the salt (I was over by around 200 cals). My little dog is in a manic mode (dad is gone on motorcycle adventure) and got me up (or tried too) every hour last night. When she does this I usually just get up and stay up... but I decided I really need the sleep hours, so kept going back to bed. I ended up dreaming every time, so I think that is good, and if patched together I got in 8 hours, more than usual. Gotta work on that sleep thing... I have been eating them every day except fast day. I have moved up from oats, which I also love, to spelt, Einkorn and Kamut.... less gluten(I eat tons of gluten anyway) I am really getting into the "feed your gut microbes" mantra, and good whole grains are one part of the recipe for that. I personally have been able to continue to lose weight eating grains. Whole grains, rolled, chopped, or occasionally flour for baking. One or two servings a day (that would be between 1/4- 1/2 cup dry...see package... around 95-130 cals) So satisfying. The serving size on whole rolled oats is usually 1/2 cup dry, I find half of that is just fine, served with fruit or a poached egg. Get out that fitbit! It is so fun to use! Really is a good tool... I seldom get in the 10,000 steps goal... but its good to see what you actually are doing, just another piece of the puzzle... no judgement. It will only call you a bit*h if you program it too... your call ! I have mine say "Howdy" How corny is that!? The more you bend your vows the easier it is to break them. This is true. Eating 5:2 may not be a vow exactly, but it follows the same rule. I actually don't think changing a day is a big deal, its just starting a trend that will lead to bad results we don't want to do. Planning is good here. I filled in the progress tracker on the 5:2 site, and it told me to eat 560 cals on fast day, so it looks like I have been right on there, this may be the sam for some of you, if you want to fill in a form! I think this is the page: http://www.52fastdie...3d74fe4dc4da537 and Thanks you all for your kind words about my mom and dad, I know most of us go through this at one time or another... here is what the 5:2 tracker said: Based on your current age (60), height and weight your Resting Metabolic Rate* is estimated to be 1442.85. For your selected level of activity (Moderate Activity) you should be eating around 2237 calories on your feed days and up to 560 calories on your fast days in order to lose weight. Note that your body's needs change as you lose weight and it is important to adjust your calorie intake accordingly so as not to overeat. If you are currently losing weight with calorie intake different than these suggested figures then there is no reason to change! I am eating about 50-75% of their recommended cals for feast days.... -
How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hey you guys, The 5:2 is supposed to be good for fat burning, and that can show up in the measurements as well as the scale... I measured around July 10th... then today (so not even when I started and lost the most weight) and my waist is 2" smaller! I thought I looked different, and the proof is in the pudding! Measure everyone, Its not too late. Also... I was measuring at the smallest part of my torso... thinking that was my waist, but 5:2 said measure at the belly button (NOT the smallest on me...) My MFP chart looks funny because I switched from smallest to bellybutton, and it went WAy up! -

Water! Protein! mind distractions.....and as a last resort, Cave in and logit in MFP! -
You alway contribute mature thinking to the vets forum! You are a medical professional? This is the most interesting part of this study to me... Sunblock contributes to a lot of our Vit D def. I was low on VitD, and Vit B12 (Im a vegetarian) but not much else. My doc said it was because I ate so many damn organic veggies and if not raw cooked them in an iron pan! I think it is. Mine is reduced, but not gone from early on. I can say its not MORE than it was at around 6 months out.....yet. Even though I think so much of what you say here is correct... "I think it is all a mind set" is a little simplifying. Emotions, physical craving, triggers, chemistry, genetics (edited to add: support!)... are so powerful, and not that easy to understand and to catch hold of. Its a little like saying, "If those poor people would just work, they wouldn't be poor!" Poor people=lazy people, not that easy. That being said, getting your mind set in the right place is a tremendous help in the weight loss/maintenance Quest. Is it "all"? I look at people who try and try again to lose and maintain, and slide back, and I think there but by the grace of god go I... went I, I may go again, and again.... I hope not! So far my mindset along with some other tools, are keeping me on track. I just know that not that long ago I gained 22 pounds... in what seemed like a blink of an eye! Realizing this frailty (along with my personal strength) allowed me to come back here and get back into the game with support... and not be so afraid that I would be seen a having a weak mindset or really, a failure, but as a person that is not giving up when the numbers go up...(not really a rant Fiddle, just a perspective)

Hi ladies, as long as there are hugs all around, let me join in. THANK YOU for being there! Today was not a fast day, but ended up kind of tough. Dad called late from the emergency room...his foot was killing him. He asked me to come and make sure my mom got home ok, she has mid stage Alzheimer's... so we went over and hung out with them in emergency. Turns out my dad cracked his ankle... he is a "man in charge" type, does not know how to slow down and take it easy... is taking care of my mom, just moved house, and is going a little crazy right now. So a broken ankle is NOT making him happy. Anyway, by the time I got them home he had broken his cast... DAD! I see lots more mom and dad in my near future. All I wanted to do on the 1:30 AM drive home was pull into Mcdonalds for french fries! I did not do it, but soooo close. I was planning on getting up early to make grape jelly with a friend, but its already early and I have not been to bed yet... oh well! Tomorrow is another day! And COOPS! Thats the way to go girl! Peaches on the beaches!
