  1. I so agree OD! It just keeps working and is rarely a burden to follow. I have to keep reminding myself that the main benefit of this WOE is longevity and lower risk of cancers and dementia! Weight loss is just a side effect.

How was your 5:2 day today?

You can do it OD! I'm fasting today. My low weight stuck so feeling really good going into my day. Also, My sleeve restriction was really good on dinner last night. Funny how sometimes the lil' tummy really kicks in.

    some self discoveries

Looking up I-Theanine, it is also an umami source!... it is in the glutamine family...so I might add it to my soup to improve the taste... ... I can't tolerate caffein much at all... One thing I was hoping is when I get a caffein response from chocolate or black tea, or an accidental dose of coffee...the I-theanine might mitigate it....I just ordered some... so I will report back!

Sounds like all you ladies are doing just fine. I fasted today, came in about 100cals over the mark, but I can live with that right now. Some of my long to-do list got done, and that makes me feel so much better and the stress is reduced. Now to get some more things on that list! See you all tomorrow!
  9. That 6 can turn into 20, believe me! Take a hard look at whats up.... write everything down, protein first... You can do it! Easier at 6 than 20.... (I gained 22 pounds last year.... in a blink of an eye!) I have been using the 5:2 plan and have managed to get the weight off at last (still 2 pounds away... but that close!)

I was going to suggest meditation as well. It takes time to develop, but really does help the "calm factor". Have you considered that it might partly be what your eating? It sounds like you eat really clean, but is there caffeine in your diet? Caffeine just kills me. I get this anxiety that feels like my nerves are burning at times. B vitamins and especially nutritional yeast really help take the edge off.

So hard letting go of old clothes

I gave away 7 black garbage bags of cloths. I did keep a pair of pants to remember where I came from. Its really great to pull them out and lay a pair of my new pants on top. I did hate to give away a few of my favs, but figure, someone else might like them as much, and I want to make room for something I really like that fits now. I had a regain last year, and had to buy some larger sizes... kept my smaller sizes in a bin... now that I have lost the regain I can now shop again in my bin! In the past I always kept my bigger sizes thinking I may need to go back to them sometime... but this time I let things go, made a new start.

I usually fast today, and am so far, but I am going to a gala this evening, lots of food, wine and art... So I decided to fast this morning to even things out for today, then do a real fast day tomorrow. I'm going to wear something really tight so I cant fit much in! Wish me luck! It should be fun.

    What makes someone a veteran?

Welcome! Me too. I just make sure I write everything down... keep track, and plan Snacks and desert, as this keeps me from eating the unplanned snack or desert! Good work, keep it up!

hair loss and im little over 12 months post op

I have been having more hair loss lately.... You can see lots of short hair sticking out all over... before surgery I had long sleek hair, not much short hair in view.... I lost maybe 25-30% of my hair at its worst. At one point I just had to cut it off... from waist to chin length. Im growing it back out now, but may have to cut it again.

I so feel for those folks in the little ravine towns...What a mess! So glad you and your daughter went out and handled it... And no after party in front of the refrigerator! I never noticed I was a stress eater before surgery, but I can sure see it now!

How was your 5:2 day today?

When I do some activity that does not show up on my fitbit... anything with extra upper body, incline or such, I just add it on MFP and it works it all out for me. (assuming your fitbit is talking with MFP) Like today I worked in the garden, LOTS of shoveling, and fitbit doesn't have much to say about that.. I added it to MFP and it gave me more calories (yea!!!)
  21. Looks lovely! I made soup last night too, ate 2 giant bowls of it! I feel a little funny eating so much, must be a slider, but I do like getting in all those veggies... I probably eat 4 cups! SLOWWWLY. Its going to be a go-too this winter for sure.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Fasting. Happy. Ate two giant cookies yesterday.... and then a salad for dinner, so good calorie count .....but not so good food. Today will be different. Fasting does seem to get me back on track after I have derailed! I weighed in today at 176.3... my low on 5:2 has been 175.2.... but I wonder if I am sabotaging myself with the cookie attacks? So close to goal, like last time around a year ago... Yesterday I actually went in search of cookies! I thought there might be some around school... and went out looking. I said to myself... why eat something like that when you can have something at home in stead? And my dear co-worker tried to warn me off as well.... "Those things are around 500 cals each! I'm saying no!" I still went there. Maybe I need to take an emergency treat to school so I have a back up for such a time for a while.....
  24. When you look on the British 5:2 sites, soup is a standard dinner on the plan.
