How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
:lol:Hurray about the loss!! Cathy, we are the same weight. Im shooting for 3 more pounds as my goal, but will try and make a bigger bounce range after that I am sure. -
Sorry you are in a stressful part of life right now. Its good to have a backup plan for when things like this come up... I plan snacks first thing in the morning (for the rest of the day) This helps me to have food comfort when I need it, planned and healthy, as part of my day. I know its best to just say no, but sometimes that is really hard to do. Cut up some carrots and other veggies with hummus in the fridge, buy some SF puddings or jellos with coolwhip, and plan them into your day. Then do the hard work, counseling? Time talking with friends, journaling, reading self help, getting the information you need in the situation you are in.... Exercise, fresh air, nature, a good book.....one day at a time. Do keep track of what you are eating... even if you don't like what you see on the list. Best of luck!

Thats one of the reasons I started taking dance class, then got the sleeve... I could just see myself in a wheelchair or Lark! I just had too much life to still live to do that before my time! I also like exercise because it changes the way your body looks... like you say, not that many calories, but better lines and feel better generally.

Don't let it go too long without having a doc check it out. Do you take acid blockers?

Daisy, breakups are the hardest, but its even harder to stay with the wrong one. You did what you needed to. I just want to eat around relationship confront too. It will get better. I gave myself permission to eat a couple of hundred calories extra today, I have not done it ...yet, but it made me feel better just having permission to do it if I wanted to. Head trips! -

I would have to agree.... It sounds like you might be eating lots of sliders, and this will help you gain weight, or at least not lose.... Getting a clean diet in place will be the restart you need.... protein first, plenty of water....not while your eating.... -

Relaxing is good! So is snorkeling, so do both. I went on a boat trip to "bird island" I think it was Isla Contoy(sp?) That was cool, and we snorkeled with barracudas and then ate one! (the look in their eyes made me think they would have done the same thing to me given the chance) http://www.islacontoy.org/ -

Let us know what you are eating, your start and current weight and goal weight, any exercise... We will try and help see what is up and make some non professional suggestions.... If you were talking to me, I use the 5:2 fast diet, do some research and see if it appeals to you....It takes many people more than a year to lose all the weight.... -
That sounds miserable! So sorry this is happening, but congrats on your getting to goal. It sounds like when you get your hydration back up, you will feel better, as far as stopping losing, I think maintenance is hard for some to get in line. You like avocado, good fats, nuts? I hear some turn to those to add calories that are healthy...do you keep track on MFP or something to see that you are getting enough variety and protein to feed your body correctly? Throw some walnuts into your Kashi go lean with milk in the morning? You might just have to look at food as medicine for a while to get to where you feel better and get that appetite back. Best of luck.

What did Brown eat today?
feedyoureye replied to BrownDoesAll's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I remember the 5:2 site says the 5:2 is not recommended for people with Diabetes, but with you in remission, this might not apply.... I would think if you monitor, then it might be ok? I start with a 1200 limit on feast days, and add more as Myfitnesspal recommends with added exercise. I am also a vegetarian. I don't eat a very simple diet, my list is as long as my arm! I eat around 4 meals sized meals a day, averaging around 300+ calories each. I try and eat lots of veggies, in Soups, salads, stir fries and baked casseroles. I plan a sweet meal at the end of the day, and this helps me to avoid sweet snacking during the rest of the day. I try to eat more Protein and Fiber than MFP recommends, which is more in line with the 60+ recommended by my doc. My carb intake is lower than MFP recommends, but is NOT low. I try and eat very high nutrition foods, organic grains and veggies, good quality fats and fruits, and like I said, vegetarian Proteins. I can eat a lot. I make it mostly veggies. I can eat a 3 cup bowl of Soup, and the same sized bowl of salad. I try not to stuff myself, and quit before I get there. I do have good restriction, though but it shows up with some foods and not others. I can't eat much Pasta, go figure. I can make 1/2 serving, and leave most of it on the plate. (hurray!) Honestly, I don't see myself as a very good roll model, except for the eat lots of variety of high quality raw and cooked veggies advice. I even grow my own, and keep those local microbes going down the hatch! (I'm into feeding the gut microbes, pre-biotics and pro-biotics) -

YIKES! Sometimes a change is in order, glad you figured out what you don't need in your life. Best of luck with that and the Party. Browns Idea about the quiches is a good one, and you can use different fillings to add variety. -

I don't want to set you against your nut or doc, just thinking if their advice is not working for you at this point, then maybe lower the cals. I try not to go below 1200. I just started eating more veggies when I needed more food to keep full, and that helped keep the cals down. -

It started out as an addition to all the string of lame questions/comments one can ask to get a rise around here (and entertain the home bound Miss Jane and Mr. Bean) , but I might just have to try the cupcake and see how it works out....... make mine chocolate! I will report back with the results after i stabilize my insulin! -

Hair Loss Poll - Please post your experience to help others
feedyoureye replied to suzcomptime's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am at 34 months and still have more hair loss than before surgery. It had slowed down, at around 18 months, then I started losing some regained weight and this increased the hair loss again. I have lots of shorter hair around my face, of different lengths, and never had this before surgery. I did take zinc for a while, and that seemed to help the hair loss..... should start taking it again! The texture is different too, as are my nails. edit: Don't get me wrong, my hair is much thicker than it was at around 18 months, after losing maybe 30%, its mostly back, but different lengths and texture. -

Brown that sounds so fun and a huge project! I'm sure it will be a blast! I just try to plan evening snack, like you. Most of the time that is enough, i am actually full from dinner when I eat my snack... bad habit Im sure, but it really keeps me from snacking anything else. Home made pudding for me.... with peanut butter or 60% cocoa chocolate chips, cool whip... the works, all planed in the morning. Its a meal really, with lots of calories (150-300 depending on content), and a chunk of protein... It keeps me on the straight and narrow pretty well... unless I'm away from the house for the night! -

Although I know not all people are the same, at 5' 9" and 60 years old, 1700 would be more like maintenance, "treat" day or super exercise day for me... I'm looking at 1200 today, 5 of those a week would stall my weight loss. (My head still thinks that is crazy! 1700 is not that many calories for a "normal" person) Other people here eat more than I, and many the same as I. Some even less than I. I can eat 1700 now and then, Like on my vacation... Im sure a couple of those days I was that high, but also was kayaking, hiking and generally moving more than usual. Jumping on the 5:2 got the 3+ pounds off pronto... in one day...... -

When I came back from vacay day before yesterday, I was 176- this morning after a fast day... 172.6! This is were I was before I left. Go figure. Happy! You know, as much as I enjoyed eating cinnamon rolls, lattes, mexican food and good bread with cheese and olives without counting calories.... or weighing... it feels equally good to be able to maintain consciousness about my intake! And to be able to cook what I eat. Just because all that eating did not make a permanent dent in my weight loss, I know it can if I do it long enough and did not have this plan in place to get back on track. Thank you 5:2!!! -

OK, back from vacation, gained 2.7 pounds, but had a fantastic time... Lots of nature, went Kayaking in the eastern Sierras, in the Ansel Adams wilderness area. I was snowing the day before! Some hiking, and some eating. I think at least part of the regain was from salty Thai food on the drive back north in Reno. It was delish, but I knew it was going to make a bounce. Fasting today, very happy I have a plan in place that I can use to get this off! -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one of the people who had gained over 20 pounds after getting the VSG. I have finally gotten it all off and am slightly below my lowest weight after surgery. I plan on losing at least 3 more pounds which will take me to 90 pounds. -
Did your bfriend know you when you weighed more? I have one friend who didn't know me before, we met in a dance class...she is very sporty. When I told her I had lost 50 pounds (what I had lost when I met her) she said she would have never guessed, she just thought I was sporty too! I just saw her again tonight at class, after about 4 months, and she said I looked like a model.... I realized I had lost about 18 pounds from the last time I had seen her(thank you 5:2). All very strange to see myself that way, through a "normal" persons eyes.
