Look up the "three week stall" Many get it. Mine lasted for over 3 weeks at started about 2 1/2 weeks out. Just do what your doing, and your body will start to let go again. -

We all have bumps in the road, and practicing getting over them will make us strong into the future. When we get to goal, we are really just starting the rest of the process, which lasts a lifetime! You guys are doing great, coming here and talking it out and getting advice. The friends I have made here have helped me so much over the last 3 years. I still have about 2 pounds to get to goal after all this time, and I know I will get there soon. The setbacks I have had, and worked through, have given me strength to keep on going, and doing what I need to do to stay on track through maintenance. One step at a time. Like someone here said earlier, one day at a time. I actually gained 22 pounds at one point after surgery, and have finally gotten it all off. We can do it. Best of luck to you all. -

Goat cheese bricks... the Tibetans eat a version those too, made from Nak milk (the Yak is the male)... they take them with when they cross the Himalaya on foot! You can buy them strung on Yak hair. Theres a rural snack for ya! They suck on them. Sounds like it might be good in soup! -

I believe we all have some gift we can bring to the rest of the world... something we learn from our unique perspective. I work in a field where people have brain damage, gene disorders and other syndromes... if given half a chance, they bring something bright and insightful to those of us who work there, and beyond through their art and creative activities. You, being who you are, have something to give to the world, it is not diminished by your new found illness, it is only informed by it. Are challenges there? Of course. This is the heros adventure... to bring something back of value to your people, in the face of difficulty and distraction. Thats how I try to look at life anyway, and it brings me strength. One step in front of the other sister! Find a class you like, its a great start! OK, so you know how I said I had gained almost 5 pounds (in about 3 days...?) Well, I dusted myself off and did a fast yesterday. This morning I was down 3 1/2 of them. I used to bounce a lot, but not for almost a year, so that 4+ pounds was a shocker. I pee'd my brains out yesterday, and keep on drinking water, and I guess that was it... water weight. Im now .8 pounds from my post 5:2 lowest. Back on track. I also have spent some time getting organized, finishing some promises I had made to others, and setting up a new projects program on my computer so I should better manage some things I have to get done. I also have been thinking about what I WANT to get done, what I dream to get done, my goals and pourpous. Its long overdue, and such a powerful way to get yourself back. I'm feeling a little better. I reset myfitnesspal to show cholesterol...and saturated fats, so I can get on top of that... Moving along. Have a nice sunday ladies. -

Laura, the test I took that may indicate higher cortisol is the: EOSINOPHILS ABS 0.1-0.3 K/MM3 0.05 L A lower-than-normal eosinophil count may be due to: Alcohol intoxication (not! in this case) Over production of certain steroids in the body (such as cortisol) so really, I am only guessing here... will find out more next month some time.... -
Didn't expect hunger pangs so soon
feedyoureye replied to pittsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stick with the docs plan. Your staple line needs a serious break... and eating "real" food will come soon enough... giving in to the temptation to cheat will come back to bite you too... take it slow. Sometimes the hunger feeling can be acid, or thirst as well... or maybe even hunger! Some never lose the feeling. -

So cool Georgia! You are def living the good life right now! Have fun girl! Coops! Its so nice to know you have such a perfect mate! ...and hitting that new number is pretty sweet too! I have entered the Twilight Zone or something... up another pound, that makes over 4! I think its stress... my eating is in pretty good shape, I did miss a fast day on Halloween...and went over just a smidge... darned dumdums! But I bought candy I don't personally like that much, and even though I live in the "hood" I had over 20 kids come to the door looking for goodies.. so cute! So, the candy was almost all carted away in kids bags. I bought little suckers (dum-dum lolliepops) that were pretty low in cals... don't want to give all the neighbor kids diabetes!! I do feel chemically off... a little depressed, and some anxiety too... My labs came back with signs of increased cortisol, and my cholesterol is up again after a nice low reading a few months after surgery ....my blood sugar markers were at the top of the normal range... will have to watch that too....theres a few things I can do with diet... but not that much left to change there! My triglycerides are nice and low...thats good and my HDL is up so that is good too... no more egg drop soup for me! -
When I miss one day walking or dance class it drives me crazy, I can only imagine having to take it easy for weeks on end!

Jane, I put that horseback riding in there for you!

So sorry to hear this Globe, Glad you are so motivated to follow your plan though. We can just do what we can do, and hopefully you can get the Affordable Care benefits at the first of the year. Can you sign up while you are there? I just got my three year labs results, and my cholesterol went up to a number that send off a red flag. My triglycerides are great, my HDL is great, but my LDL is high. I feel like my efforts have failed this part of my health improvement plan.... I had gotten off my statin drugs, and now I don't know if I need to go back on or not, will find out in december. There is not that much I can do with diet, I guess stop eating eggs.... I don't eat meat.... My pre diabetes markers are at the top of normal too... have to keep an eye on this too. Anyway, this really has bummed me out, and hearing your situation has helped kick me into perspective. The human body is frail, and also so strong at times . I guess when we find our weaknesses, its should not be such a surprise! We just don't have control of everything. You take care, and know you can still find your greatest happiness within yourself... you are still very much alive and kicking! -

So true. The current scales I have weigh me so differently than my old ones... I don't bounce at all. I can stay the same for 2 weeks in a row with no changes to the 10th of a pound. My old scales had me all over the place every day. They seemed to reflect what a body might actually do, the range. I am going to the Docs today, and will weigh on their scale for a change, hopefully in line with my own. Boy Globe, your diet would be so hard to follow! If it makes you feel better, that is a great thing though. Have you looked at the microbiome sites? Here is one, not any answers, but shows the research.... http://www.hmpdacc.org/ http://www.hmpdacc.org/impacts_health/impact_health.php -

Oh, I flopped out this weekend! Someone on the dock said to me... "It doesn't have to be pretty as long as you end up on the dock!" Thanks for that! I'm just glad I didn't end up in the water! I'm not sure what the 'elegant' way to get out is....I may never know! Laura, I paid $249 for mine new, and you can find them on Craigs list for a great price. This should be the right time to find one... people don't want to store them for the winter.... -

So looking forward to fasting today... had a blast yesterday kayaking, but loaded up on snacks, salty high fat snacks.... gained 1.4 pounds, but Im pretty sure fasting will blast that off. I also exercised like a fiend... almost 4 hours of kayaking... well over 800 cals. SORE. See ya later ladies! Have a great day! -

Step away from the morphine first.... its a mood changer.(if you are still using it....) -
Happy! I know right were your coming from... I gained 16 at one point (up to 22).... I have it off now, and am one pound from goal. I basically did the same as you.... stopped paying attention, stopped the gym (I had an injury...) had company for almost 10 weeks (can you say happy hour?) I got back on track, and tried a couple of plans, gained 6 more pounds on one of those plans, then finally got on the 5:2... and have lost it all from there. (you know most of us that follow the 5:2 still count calories on "feast" days) Thats how it works. And back to activity, weighing every am and putting everything I eat in MFP 95% of the time....even if its pure crap... seeing the calories of that ice cream for myself is a great motivator. You can do it, and the time is NOW.

Why am i not losing weight?
feedyoureye replied to missypooh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really, just do what your doing. Time is the answer. I have had stalls that lasted for many weeks...i was following orders, it just takes time. This is a NORMAL event. Like I said above, the body needs to heal, reduce swelling, adjust sometimes. There is NO way you will stay the same forever eating 700 cals a day! Wait it out. If you must, drink more water, take more walks, do something you love, measure in other ways. It is common to lose inches when the scale is not moving. I did this myself 3 years ago, and have seen hundreds of others do it in the meantime, take my word for it. Follow directions, and let your sleeve do the rest. -
I really developed wrinkles and sags with weight loss, however they did get better with time (and exercise helped). I think many of us lose off the face first is seems! Things will even out a bit over time. When i see peoples before and afters, they always look younger... I think looking in the mirror close up shows the bags, but overall, we seem to look better and younger, don't you think?

Need help to gain weight
feedyoureye replied to 1maryreigel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What does the doctor advise? I know, the surgery, but how about eating styles? Meds? Bio feedback to slow the vomit reflex? Was this caused by the operation? If the pylorus is lose, it seems like it would let the contents of the stomach empty faster than vomiting... how about cream soups, eating slower, purees again....best of luck.... -
Why am i not losing weight?
feedyoureye replied to missypooh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am coming up on 3 years post surgery... I am now only ONE pound away from goal. Talk about stalls. If you lose 10 pounds a month, that is heaven. There will be stalls and maybe lots of them for some of us. I understand we all want the fat off NOW! But if you had 85% of your stomach cut out, and are eating 700 cals a day... it will come off. Maybe sooner, maybe later... this is a good time to work on your mindset... this process is not over after you get the weight off, its just starting! You need to keep vigilant during maintenance as well. The three week stall is a bi**h, why would the body do that to us? It is swollen, it is hurt, it is losing its income drastically, it does not want you to die! Give it a break, it wont last forever.... and by the way, 3.9 pounds a week would NEVER be counted as a slow loser. You peeps will get there, in fact the time will fly. Some will lose faster than others, but it feels just as good to reach goal, at 6 months or 3 years. Relax a little.
