Good quality protein drinks are well absorbed by the body. Even those with lactose intolerance can tolerate whey. Its just that you really need a full spectrum of nutrients, fiber and such.... which may include protein drinks forever if you really need them (according to my doctor)... Eat variety to hit your numbers, to not get bored, stay on plan and get well rounded intake.

One day at a time ladies. I posted that Crack and Fudge are the same thing on my Facebook. I LOVE fudge. I could eat it every day. I have had non yet this season, but Im sure some will show up at work yet. I took a nice walk in nature today, its so cold (for here) but the sun was shining and saw lots of cool birds jumping around in the trees by the river. It was really such a nice break. Dont forget to enjoy your nature ladies! -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

If your still losing, then the bounce is not really gaining... most people have a bounce. You might want to only weight every week or so if the weight fluctuation is bothering you. You have done great! -

Thinking of you.... http://www.edd.ca.gov/disability/di_how_to_file_a_claim.htm http://www.cdss.ca.gov/cdssweb/PG118.htm If you are "fired" from a job because of a disability, you can get unemployment for a while cant you? https://www.coveredca.com/ You might want to read through this, to see if you need anything from your end, Drs letters, employers letters of dismissal... so you have them to make your case. Having to get them later might be a real pain. -
January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?
feedyoureye replied to pottergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So we are all rolling up to a pile of surgaversaries next month! Mine will be 3 years on the 18th. And by the way, I have you ALL beat, I am the slowest loser here! It took me almost 3 years to get to goal. Now to maintain maintenance. I am working on that now, figuring it out. I have to tell you "slow" losers, that getting to goal at three years is just as awesome as getting there at 9 months. Feels like heaven. Now to just stay here! That is the trick. Best of luck all, Kim -

That attitude will get her a speedy weight regain alright... 42pounds+! I have a co worker who has lost 65 pounds in about 3 months, she comes in every week at weighin, and gives me a high 5 because she has lost 3 more pounds. I am happy for her, she needed a change, and I hope she can keep it off, but I worry a bit, she started walking 2 hours a day, weight lifting 2 days and gym 2 days a week, then a 1200 or less cal diet... I don't see how she can keep it up after the weight loss....she even knows she cant keep it up... This week has been a mis match for me... hubby' birthday food on Monday, good fast days on Tue and Thur then pizza last night to celebrate Betty's Police Cadet acceptance. Now it is the weekend and I am not hungry at the moment. I still have the dreaded man flu so I haven't been to the gym this week - it is also manic in work at the moment and my energy levels are really low and it is sooooo cold - and that doesn't help either! I'm not saying I'm off track, but I don't 'feel' on track either if that makes sense. My bounce has started already - so I know I need a little more vigilance on my feast days for sure. I really wanted to see my surgeon's goal for Christmas, but I don't think that will happen looking over my 5:2 pattern of losing. Never mind - it will come in the New Year! On a side note a friend in work - who is a dear friend and I love her to bits has done well on the 'conventional' slimming world diet - she's lost just over 3 stone - 42lbs and is looking fab. Others have told her that she is too skinny but I don't think so, she is really tall and has lovely long legs so she can carry herself well, oh! and she is young too! She is aware that I am struggling to get to my target weight (she doesn't know about the sleeve) and now she is complaining that she is under her target weight! And that if she doesn't put weight ON she will have to start paying again - she goes to a weekly club thing. She's lost it all through diet and no exercise. This did one on my head to be honest - insensitive? Or just completely in her own weight loss bubble? Here's me struggling like hell and she knows it - she knows I do the 5:2 and exercise, and she just kept on about being under her target! Arghhhhh ... I dunno - I was a little sharp with her and told her to just drop her target weight and not and not pay. She said: 'Nah, I'll just have a Snickers bar!' - What? really? FFS!!!! Ok... rant over... sorry but momentarily that really p*ssed me off! this week I realized (again) how thin the ice is I'm skating on... when everything is in place, and I am all prepared and in the right mood, physically well... I can pull this thing off (the routine), but company, holidays, injury..... bam, things start sliding sideways. I am in my current "bounce maintanance" range 169-172, but really need that range to shift down 5 pounds to all be in the 60's....sometime!(I'm with you coops, the new year looks like the time) But life is always going to have something going on that I can't control....and even don't want to control.... so Im trying to grab the days that fit my criteria, and keep the ship from sinking that way. 5:2 really helps this... -

Not that it makes any difference, but the research section has been on this site since 2009. Thank you for posting this, I am sure it will make a difference for some one, and I really hope you can make the surgery happen for yourself, you will love it, and it will be so good for your family as well. Best of luck. -
You might also want to look into the 5:2 diet, really only recommended for people a year out... I also started gaining weight, in the second year(22lbs), and started the 5:2, lost all the regain, and got to goal too... Now just trying to maintain through the holidays! The bootcamp is good, the 5:2 may be easier for some... I will not go into the details here, look up 5:2 diet in the vets section for more details.

How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh that's not not good! I would be in serious distress over seeing that daily! The only good thing I see there? Those cheap asses are charging for that crap! If it were free? Would be like "oh you must grab you mustn't pass up free food it might come in handy" ...yea, when the zombie apocalypse comes, I want to make sure there are some snickers bars in my coat pockets just in case! We had a guest staying here the last couple of days, and it shot my fast day all to hell, then this morning I got up early and made scones, healthy ones, but still 300 cals each... I ate two before 9am! I'm not even sure how I fit them into my stomach! Then I snacked on some potato chips... guest food! I really had no self control this morning.. I somehow managed to pull in the reins later in the day, and ate like a fast day to just get back on track...and stayed within my MFP goals... but really, this morning was crazy head behavior. It was as easy as falling off a log eating those two scones. Well, I did get in a bunch of fiber in!!! Thats for sure! 22gms! -

Oh hell no! That would be so hard to resist! We have buttered popcorn everyday in the office...then sometimes baked goods and home made cookies for sale on T-T..... Yikes! Yesterday I started out good, 1 protein drink all day before dinner... then i got the call from hubby, two dinner guests, he was picking up wine and snacks, and would I cook dinner? I made something not too bad, but I ended up with 800 cals.... and lots of extra salt...... weight stayed the same, but it will be hard to fit in another fast day before monday... Oh well, happy I didn't gain! -

I usually follow MFP suggested gms of nutrients, but often go over that on protein and fiber, under on carbs (which is still a lot!) and usually right on the cals including the added exercise cals. I have MFP set on "sedentary" and "lose 1 pounds a week" then I also do the 5:2 twice a week, so with that I am pretty much staying at maintenance, maybe lose a little more over a long time frame.... I am married, and not on "the market" but I still think about what it would be like, approaching people with "relationship" in mind, and I really am at a loss too... I wasn't looking for a boyfriend when I met my current husband... I didn't sleep with him for around 4 months... that messes with my ability to be objective if I get into that too soon... we just went through a lot of adventures, and spent time with lots of other people most of the time, so I could get to know him in stressful and fun situations. We knew each other for two years before we talked about getting married (lived together for about a year). We were apart for a year as well, and had a long distance relationship by snail mail... sending mail art, and that was really fun. While he was in New Zealand for that year, I knew we would ether get married or split it. When he got back to the states, he asked me to marry him... if we were going to keep the relationship up, he needed to get his green card. So I took almost a month thinking about it, I could see there were things that were hard to deal with, and tried to be rational about the decision... not always my style in relationship at the time! The problems have never really changed for more than a week or two at a time. We have developed some ways to make it work most of the time. We have been married for almost 20 years. -

here is why in a nutshell to eat lower protein: Next, the show moved to talking about IGF-1 and its relation to cancer and various other disease. This should not be confused growth hormone, or with the variant of IGF-1, called mechano-growth factor 1, which is responsible for the muscle growth associated with contraction (muscular work). They are different, but MGF is often confused with or simply referred to as IGF-1. This is probably the most controversial part of the show as it refers to the connection between high protein diets and high IGF-1 levels. Again I can relate to Dr. Mosley as this is also where I get the most slack on line, for my book How Much Protein. The basic story is that constant growth is NOT a good thing. Yet a high protein diet promotes constant anabolism, or constant growth. The section on IGF-1 reminds me a lot of the chapter on Autophagy in Eat Stop Eat, stressing that there must be time for recovery and rebuilding on a cellular level if optimal health is the goal. The protein link is there, they weren’t making this up…think about it… We all know protein is ‘anabolic’, in the documentary Dr. Mosley refers to this constant state of growth as ”go go mode”. However, the role of protein in health is the topic of a different blog post…bottom line – Health and Optimal muscle building should be viewed as two different things. - See more at: http://bradpilon.com/weight-loss/the-52-diet-my-review/ -

I believe the minimum recommended protein for most non weight lifting diets is 45gm. You can lose muscle lower than that. http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/protein
