M2G, you are the official name keeper! Make me a list won't you?(I am not kidding...) If I have it next to my computer, I will learn to put all the right names next to the right people. I am hopeless at some things! sad face... I want to have it right.... but on the fly like scrolling down these pages, it just doesn't always stick to my brain. Globe, have you ever posted your name? ....I also want to know who your artist dad and mom are, I wonder If I know them from somewhere... I taught a class at the Mendicino art center years ago...there was a guy with a cool gallery at that time... "this is art" or something like that... what the heck was his name.... I can see his face..... He showed some artists from Sac.... This was the 80s.... -
I'm 18 months out. I think this is what I need to get these last few 12-15 pounds off.It will be good for maintenance as well. Did you watch the BBC show? The program is for longevity, not weight loss, so its is actually good to follow wether you need to lose or not.

Hey Susan, so whats the story... You said you feel like you might need to be re-sleaved... so how long have you been sleeved, who did it, what was your experience? You feel like you have lost your restriction? (5:2 can help with that...) Do you think it is the sleeve size- stretched out... or was your original sleeve made larger in the first place....what else have you tried? Give us a way to support you! Thats what we are hear for. Bouncing and regain are a bitch! Did you ever get to goal? -

Susan, at one point, when this group was "open" we started moving to another private site. That privacy was so important. I believe it is helpful to others to make our wisdom available... but this group is more than that. The general crowd does not need to see naked pics or deepest secrets or private troubles. Most people in this group do post in the other areas... I know these days I'm mostly in the vets forum, but other places too now and then... and have been here contributing for over 3 years. Vets helped me out early on, and I am forever grateful. I am open to letting in a few more folks, but really it needs to be vetted by the group... if we lose one of our regular friends here, because it has turned into just a another corner of the regular forum, then that would defeat its purpose. You sound like you just might be a great fit here. In the past we have asked that members already have a commitment to the 5:2... and once in, you are in if you participate, we are loyal to our group...even if the 5:2 is not working that well for you... and I think this is good for MyBariatricPal even if we are closed. We really wanted to stop the flow of people who just wanted to jump in, ask the million questions that have already been asked a million times, and bring no long term experience with the sleeve, we also have really tried not to lure in people in their first year... thats their Doc/Nuts job, not ours... also, as you know, there are some aggressive, mean, short sighted, disagreeable people on this forum, its bound to happen, and we didn't want any of them crashing our happy home. I am a social worker in my "day job" as are others here... I know full well that helping others can burn you out if not paced. Some really great people are not here any more. They took on so much, helped so many, and are gone. I know I am trying to hold the long line here, to be here as much as I can for others without making it my full time job and burning out. This private group really helps me to stay on track personally and not burn out. Who knows what it is that makes something work for one and not another!? Its a freaking mystery Brown! Just keep in mind, I did not get to goal until the end of year 3! It took trying a few things, giving them a good long try, keeping track of WAY too much information.... Its still a work in progress at 3 years... your not done, until you give up. We are here for you! That being said, -
What did Brown eat today?

Use your MFP... that fast day adds up to 580... I used to not count my light veggies, cabbage, greens, and such, but now I do... they hardly have any calories, but Im seeing how even they can add up! Just make those fast days tight as a drum for a while if your not already doing it Brown. I let the calories slip upwards all too often. I like your plan! And you walk way more than I do! 10,000! Im luck if I get in 7000, and I walk quite a bit (I thought) I guess I sit quite a bit too! I have a party tonight and its a fast day.... so fingers crossed... Protein Drink in the am, then nothing until the party... -

I hope the 5:2 takes care of that for you... I gained 22, got it off plus some to goal..... Work, but not THAT hard.... I hope it works for you that way. Boo to another surgery if you can avoid it! -
Ha! Funny, I was reading your post Laura, and when I got home from work I had a message on my phone from my bariatric Docs office to come in for a 3 year checkup! I am so glad I weight a little less than the last time I was there instead of 22 pounds up pre 5:2! My last visit must have been at one year....

Sarsar, hes a big hulking Kiwi, around 6'1", 255 pounds, (we used to weight the same!) and his hands are GIANT. He has Fred Flintstone feet... he didn't wear shoes until he was 12! Country boy. I met him by a bus stop in the Himalaya. I could totally see him swinging a sword in some Scottish battle. His clans motto is "Conquer or Die" and our clan motto is "Love" Do you think we might have different conflict resolving styles? You would be right. I have gone out with men of all sizes and shapes. I did like his stature for sure, and he likes bigger girls, so that worked for me too. Love that story! What were you doing in the Himalaya? Working? I am also attracted to big guys. My husband is 6 foot and about 200 pounds. He likes it when he weighs around 185-190 pounds and I like it when he's about 200, a little more meat on the bones. I would have liked someone even bigger but I fell in love with all 6 feet of him! I like that I'm smaller than him. Now that I've lost more weight he keeps commenting that there isn't anything to grab on me anymore...I told him there's lots of skin to grab...lol! I had set up an art studio in Mcleod Ganj, a Tibetan Resettlement camp/town where the Dalai Lama and other Great Teachers, artists and scholars live. I wanted to study, paint and just have a blast in nature! I had meet a Tibetan style monk from the US in that little town the year before, and he met Craig in Thailand a few months before... long story short, he brought Craig with him to India, and introduced us... in the bus stop in the center of town. We traveled around India, Sikim and then onto Nepal, where the magic really began for us. We split, me back to India and him back to Thailand, then hooked up later and flew back to California together. That was almost 22 years ago. CUTE!! Love it, it will look great with black tights and maybe some black boots? I like with the jeans jacket too! You look TINY. Susan, the first couple of weeks are a little hard, but it grows on you. I really miss it when I can't fit in a fast day for some reason. I feel so much more in control of my eating on non fast days... I just feel like I am eating a lot, but am not. Im sure its someplace in the Novel of this thread, but we don't eat to TDEE on feast days like it says in the book, we keep it in the ball park of sleeve normal- 1100-1400 seems to be the range, some a little less or more... so we are eating lots less than a "normal" eater for sure... but it feels good, and still gives you the option of eating more on some vactation/party days and keeping the wight down with the fast days. Congrats on your first day! -
I take a bath almost every morning and take a giant glass (4 cups) of Water with me, and make myself drink it all before I get out of the water, I even sometimes fill it up again... If I don't do this, its pretty hard for me to get in enough water.

Now that should take you all night! Check out the research thread too, some good science and/or anecdotal info there. Have you watched the BBC show that started this particular protocol? This site has an anoying popup, but is one of the only places I can find the show right now... well worth watching, around 55 minutes... http://leangainsguide.com/diet/igf-1-and-fasting/ -

Hi Susan, welcome, and I hope the occasional swear word will not offend! This private site lets it all hang out. I agree with just hitting the old 5:2... slow, steady and not soooo difficult or "diety" Glove, great wise post. "What can you do besides take up boxing, invest in a state of the art sex toy, and play the stock market." Love it! Jane, "how to tell if someone is good in bed before you take the free sample..ha! " Made me laugh... that free sample can be the experience that drowns out the behavior that will bug you in the long term... no easy solution! How about an arranged marriage? I had many conversations with people about this while I lived in India... most of them said that a good arranged marriage is better than a love marriage.... because you have someone on the outside that cares about you make the match. I am at the bottom of my bounce (thank you 5:2) with several more food parties coming up... I may end up with two 6:1 weeks in a row.... or semi 5:2s.....party tomorrow night on a regular fast day... probably fast until the PM then TRY to take it easy. Last year the food was not that tempting, so with luck and the same event planner, I might survive it. Daisy, the "host" thing ... a call went out for some folks to become "hosts" and help around the site, say hi, do some maintenance, keep the peace. Be a go too person. I am thinking about it, but not sure if I have the time... Cheers all! Kim -

some of the most attractive people I have met were not "good looking" . Attraction is often (for me) intellect, humor, adventuresome, and kindness. If that is there, the other things just fall to the background. I am 5'9", and tall is attractive to me in an animal way, but I need other things first. I would at least like someone who is as tall as me in flats. The heals are just a bonus. I don't like feeling "bigger" even if Im not that big now. -

...the forgetfulness may also be from eating so few calories girl! Upside, living in Portland or Seattle would give you absolutely great food choices, great farmers markets, therapies and such. Following your plan will make you feel so much more powerfull!
