I eat a LOT of veggies, they fill me up and they taste good, add fiber and nutrition. There are plenty that are low in calories. I eat pots of veggie soup, salads, and stir fries. I can eat 3 cups of veggie soup! Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, greens, brussels sprouts, peppers, tomatoes... you can almost eat these without even counting the cals they are so low. Throw in a little potato with skin, carrots, corn other root veggies to add flavor and variety.... I am a vegetarian so I add a little olive oil and veggie protein, and that makes a fantastic meal weather cold, hot, wet or dry! (Im talking about the food, not the weather ) I have come up with combos of the tastes I like, and just make those time after time. Mexican, curry, Italian, Cajun, Thai, Mandarin.... so many flavors to choose from!

How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Multi quote time! Me too! Happy Birthday Lovely! Hope your day is fantastic fun and full of love! I have done a few 6:1s as well... mananged 2 fast days this week, was thinking about doing a third today, but the scales didnt move up, so I just went normal today. I think just do what you can, you know, quitting is not a logical answer to not doing 100%... you are moving, and doing at least 50%! Thats pretty good girl! Things will calm down after the Bday cake;p Good for you! two days! and down 3 pounds, awesome! Cheri is back on the fourms, perhaps you would invite her back to our little group? She would have to spend 2 weeks solid catching up on our soap opera! We would all love to see here here again... I think the 'break" in eating is a key as well. I don't make a big deal about counting hours or anything, but on fast days I usually don't eat until after noon, and then only a little. I sometimes skip breakfast on other days as well.... haha I worked so hard at incorporating breakfast into my day even though I wasn't hungry! Instead of dropping the cute dude, how about just telling him you are a busy gal, and a little more notice would work much better for you. (Let him know you have a life. Your time is valuable and you are in demand!) It sounds to me like he might be fishing for more than fish... maybe others in the pond besides you? This may not be a bad thing, it just needs to be up front, or it gets messy. If he can't comply with such a small request, then ba-by lovely! At this time i think you just have to trust him to do the right thing... he may have to go and pick some of his shite up or something. If there is unfinished business, its better that it get finished. See what he says when he gets back. -
Im glad you have a plan. I plan for an evening sweet snack (almost a meal really). Being able to look forward to that helps me say NO to other things that come up. I usually make a home made fat free chocolate pudding at night, with something extra, like a spoon of Peanut butter, or 1/3 cup of mini marshmallows... If your really have a breakdown about something like this, plan for it. I might even skip breakfast if the PM is when I really want to eat. I use MFP not just to count calories/protein,but to make a plan I can see right in front of me, that I will still be eating more later, deep breath, I will NOT starve. I also add in lots of veggies if I am feeling hungry after the protein. I make big pots of steaming veggie soup, low cal, adds water to my count, and gets me full and full of vitamins too! Just stay away from regular sugar and white carbs, they will just add to the feeling of hunger later. Glad you found a nice dress! Do you ever watch "Say Yes! to the dress"?

Upset by old - fat - pics
feedyoureye replied to Indigo1991's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
jen, the first time I really would say out loud how much I weighed, was here, then in public shortly after that. It does help seal the commitment to lose the weight and keep it off (the hard part by the way...)Getting real with the pics is good too, even if hard to take. I don't have many of those in my personal pic stash, but my husband has lots of them, and looking through his pics I see lots of the "worst" and some really nice but FAT ones too. I was really trying to look good with what I had. I remember this too. -

I have not even tried my "juliette" on yet. The other one I got, a demi with a tutu, fit just fine. I have been seeing lots of swans lately, they are so lovely and make such a racket for sure! I once watched a mexican mom tightening her little girls belt up snug... she was around 8 I would say, and say something about training her waist to be small. Remember there is some research (on mice ! I think) that says that intermittent fasting helps stave off cancer....among other things....as does developing a healthy gut biome. I will be taking some photos of my costume on saturday.. I will ether wear my demi corset or the full hoo-haw, I dropped off the art today and the place is pretty cool. I then took a car trip to a restored wetland area up by the golden gate bridge, then went up the coast a bit to check out some shore birds at Stinson beach. The dog hates me now because of all the twists and turns in highway one... she'll sleep it off I'm sure.... I ate at TWO fast food places today, Subway (not that bad) and Mcdonalds! Medium frenchfries and an apple pie. bluck! The dog barked at me the whole time I was eating them. She was saying "Don't eat any more of those, they are bad for you... give them to me instead! I'll take that bullet for you mom!" (drool) I think I might fast tomorrow too... make it three days this week... Saturday will be some eating out as well.... -

Fasted ok yesterday, back into the 160's again after almost a month of "party!" This weekend may be off the hook, so hopefully I will be able to hang onto the 60's....Glad I got the fast day in before the lid blows off! You know, for me, the more I break the diet, the easier it is to break the diet and the harder it is to stay on the diet. Gotta get to that "I will do it... if just for today" stance, once you follow through one day, the next day is easier again.... What Sheila said.... Will the request to go to Germany still play out? Can you cancel that? The money would be nice for sure, and make you feel seccure, but will it take a big toll on your life in other ways? Having a buddy will def make it nicer... if he does some kind of split on you, will it be hell to be there again? Only you know how you feel... support from here whatever you decide... Time to get in front of the camera with them ASAP! -

Sarah, that is so lovely! How sweet, he's a keeper! His mommy must have been a great and loving influence on him even if she was a little sad three years ago. That is the very reason you did the surgery, and it worked! Awesome! Denise, you deserve the best, I'm glad you feel that spark! Enquiring minds want to know... is he the drinker? (I cant keep my men straight!) That sounds dangerous if he is, but I sure have known some extremely charmning and intelligent men who had drug and/or alcohol problems.... -

It is possible to get the sleeve and not be given protein goals. Some Drs. in Europe just tell their patients to eat normally, any kind of food, in small amounts and chew well. Thats it! Even in the US the plans vary widely from one doc to another. I was also given the 65-80 gms of protein goal... but no carb maxs.... It just depends on your plan.

Thank you! I'll look into that! You can find the pouch test on line for free, there is something here called "Divas Boot Camp" that some swear by, others use the 5:2 (like me) to get the pounds moving. We do not have a pouch, the test is used by people who have gotten RNY surgery mostly. FYI, when i look at your post on my desktop computer, i see your full profile, including your surgeon's name. I don't mind, Im not worried about a lawsuit... but I can see Lizv123 surgeons name...

You must feel so frustrated! All I can say is, track what you eat and drink (myfitnesspal is the best in my opinion) if you are eating under 1000 cals (probably closer to 600) you will lose. You may be a slow loser, but there is no way your body can go for that long and not lose at some point. Keeping track of cals, pounds and inches is a good idea. It took me 3 years to get to goal... with stalls, gains and s-l-o-w spots plenty. You well may have gained during surgery (I gained 10 pounds) and gone through a stall before you really lost much, but do not beat yourself u[pp. If you are following "the rules" and have not lost much, it is not you that is failing. It may just be timing, swelling, or the stomach fairies! Hang in there, what else are you going to do?

My foodie friends were worried they could not enjoy hanging out with me anymore... I have proven them wrong! I can still eat anything, just less of it, and not as often! I save my special foods for when we visit, make stuff from scratch and we sit down and enjoy. The next day? Back on routine. Being able to enjoy life sometimes involves food. Finding ways to make this work is part of being successful with the sleeve. -

My doc said figure 10 pounds a month average. 3 a week is GREAT! Many people have the "three week stall" starting around the first 3 weeks, and you can have no weight loss for weeks... this is normal! Try not to compare yourself with others, your body will do what it needs to do in its own sweet time... just follow the rules, Water, move, Protein first and go through the stages.... you will be fine. If it makes you feel bad weighting more often, weigh every month or two weeks. I made a deal with myself that I would not let the numbers push me around emotionally if I weigh every day, and thats what I have always done.

go for the 26, the bust and hips can expand a bit no problem, I am working on my sleep too... Im afraid there is not too much I can do as long as I am ruled by my little dog Sukie... when she says she needs to go out, I get up and let her out... which included at least one 3-5AM back yard call. She is getting so old, she sometimes forgets to scratch the door and just goes on the floor, and other times forgets why she scratched on the door. I don't know how long she will be around, and she is my little sweetheart granny dog, so I will let her out any damed time she wants. Im lucky to still have her. I also can use my fitbit to see my sleeping patterns, I haven't used it lately for that, but it is interesting to see how many times i wake up and REALLY wake up, get up.... around 4-7 times a night last time I checked... I have had a lot of anxiety lately... I don't drink coffee, have even cut out regular tea... but still have a chocolate fix every evening... I'm thinking that might be contributing to my problem.... So every other night I cut out the chocolate... hope that is enough, would really be sad if the chocolate has to go.... I also find mixing a couple of Tablespoons of Nutritional yeast in a glass of water and swigging it down helps cut the anxiety down pretty quickly. You might give that a try... lots of b vitamins.... -

I will take pics for sure. Put it on your bucket list and we will go together when you are in the states!...and.......job offer?!!! Thats a good sign! I am not the person to ask about negotiation for salary... it appears I will work for nothing if I like it and am pretty much always broke! You must have a great short term memory! Phone Camera! I had forgotten about that... thats a great Idea! Will fit in a tiny beaded purse too.... with the lipstick and monocle! I'm going in for my 3 year check up in Feb. hope to be at my personal goal/low end by then... but the RN that saw me last time gave me a goal of 160 and that ain't going to happen, probably EVER. The doc and nut never gave me a goal...I'm going to see her again this time... Hi everyone else, you all have a great day! -

Helping others can cause burnout, and sometimes, when lots of other stuff is going on elsewhere, a wise helper takes a break. I work in a field where the staff really does a good job of staying on track in the face of confront, and avoiding burnout can be as little as taking a day for your self, letting someone else do the job for a while, or changing direction all together if needed. Not even saying that these peeps are burnt out... just a thought...life outside the "Pal" goes on.... -

Thanks for posting Jane, if this is a support site, it needs to support. All of us. Coming for support does not make us a failure, it puts us firmly in the success process. Losing is hard, and maintaining is harder. Let us be the ones that do not run away and hide... or feel like we might be a "downer" for long, because there is work to do, and WE WANT GOAL.(health, happiness, community,....and forgiveness... even enlightenment) -

I was thinking I would "tuck it in" around the sides and back . That corset hooks in the front, and laces in the back, so you can start lose and then tighten it up. I think at that price, you should get one and try it out! They have directions on how to measure to get the best fit.... and 4 sizes left... -

I am going to SF on Thursday, so will fast tomorrow. Did fine fasting yesterday, and not to shabby today. I have my 3 year checkup in Feb, and really want to hit the bottom of my goal range by then if possible..... Want to show off! The last time I was there for a checkup, they said that many of the sleeve people were disappointed with the sleeve... I wonder that that meant! I will ask more questions this time and see what others are saying....I'm guessing that I might be a big success around there! Before I got the surgery they asked me if I would be happy losing 50 pounds ... and I said yes, but would rather lose 90... so here I am! -
