How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know that part of this is the aftermath of the holidays still hanging on... the carb monster feeling, but I wonder if it is also winter time cravings...? I know I am in the same boat, wanting to eat more and the wrong kinds of things! A couple of days this week I ate almost 400 cals extra (on feast days) I did write it down, and move on... but It is kind of scary! I'm going in for my 3 year checkup soon, and want to be at a new low for that... but at this rate, I'll be lucky to be at the same weight as my last check in with my regular Dr. I'm glad your checking in with us, don't be a stranger, it is times like this that we need extra support... it sounds like he could use some as well! Is he gaining? time for some good solid meal planning... including lots of pre prepared snacks I think... Maybe weigh in together in the morning and make a pact about eating for the day? Im glad you said something to him... Im sure he needed to hear it as well! -

Cathy! One pound! So close... stick with it girl, I know you can taste it! -
I have always wanted a real corset. The victorian lace up kind. They are so expensive, and need to be made to order some times. I saw this ad on Bariatric-pal(one of those personalized cookie driven adds Im sure...) for corsets, and cute costume pieces... victorian, steam-punk, burlesque, 50's pin up and such.... Well, last night I bought two of them! They also have light weight costume pieces not made for cinching in.... these are the real deal! http://www.corset-story.com/cdf-106-blue-and-black-brocade-pattern-corset.html (only in silver and black- sale for $25) and http://www.corset-story.com/ge-120-black-underbust-corset-with-tutu-made-to-order.html (only $9!!)

I went to a kiddie birthday party and lunch at my nephews. I just decided I would not fast today.. and pull a 6:1 this week... should be able to do Thursday OK. I managed to get away from this weekend with no gain/loss... Ill take it. Sarsar!! That is so fantastic! How amazing is that low bodyfat! So glad the 5:2 worked for you too. I think if I crack down a little more/better I should be able to lose maybe 5 more... I would like that, but at this time I am trying to maintain and see what that looks like for a bit. Coops, If your daft than so am I! You are doing so well too.. I know its still going slower than you would like, but you are still chipping away at it, and I bet the tummy job makes such a difference. Do post a pic if you would like to share, you know us, we want to see/hear it all! -

I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

Hi ladies! I'm from the area too... if you want to talk surgeons, take it here. http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/391-gastric-sleeve-surgeons-and-hospitals/ Make way for the LBD's! Here is my look for the Edwardian ball, I also wore a flimsy cover/blouse to hide the unfortunate from seeing the arm and back flaps! But here is the look with the corset top and big skirt. In Black of course... not that little but I think qualifies for here! Sorry, no skirt shots! -

The The Edwardian ball is really all over the place costume wise... I know I was more Victorian, but really, not even that... Its more like whatever you like, there were Batmen, Aliens from the 50s, and lots and lots of Fantasy, Steam Punk, Gothic and a few pure souls who were spot on edwardian... really, even during the Edwardian time, there were some major style changes... from the Florodora/Gibson Girl look, to the more sleek man tailoring looks leading up to Coco Chanel. Florodora_sextet.jpg m_FloradoraGirls1.jpg gibson-girls-at-the-beach.jpg dress-for-the-decade-indexed.png Wanda. I wish I could say I have not arm flaps, but I had to pose this pretty well... arms down and covering the back overflow as well... I wore a flimsey blouse over the top to soften things up a bit... and it was pretty dark at the event... great mood lighting most places... oh, and the hair, I started that morning, spraying and ratting, I wore it up to the city to check out the vendors early, then when we went back to the hotel, I took it down, started over sectioning and ratting, and rolling it up to get the volume, then adding the fake"snood" at the back, the black flowers and the little black facinator tophat with feathers and hatpin... then, I hot curled the side curls. Spray, makeup and jewelry... then "lets get the hell out of here cuz we are late!" It took about 3 hours to dress and do hair both. Hair alone was about 45 minutes, my friend and I discussed how your really needed a "dresser" to help out if you were going to maintain this intensity of look every day... We did need each others help on hair and corsets.... -

Dead eye Jane! Have you ever seen that show "Intervention"? It is a good roadmap for separating yourself from abusers and really setting them up for help without dragging yourself down into their thing any further. Check it out. Its Tough Love. -

HI Sar, That is a piece of my art from about 3 years ago. I submitted my work to the guy that selects the art for the event (my second year submitting) and at the last minute he said he loved it, and took 3 pieces. He put them in a nice prominent place, with decent lighting, so that was all good. I went with my bellydance teacher and friend. We got a room to change and crash in, and really had a blast. Thanks! The purple hair looks pretty styley all pilled up on top, made me want to rat it up more often. Well the corsets were certainly in style last night! There were some really great high end hand made corsets there too... there was one little room that was called "the peep show" where beautiful burlesque ladies in extra nice corsets and stockings stood on a tiny stage and got ogled by anyone who wanted to. It was a hoot! -
suzis corn cakes or genisoy crackers with PB or hummus, or deviled egg, or stack up cherry tomato-cucumber-celantro+ on top of a few crackers... I like "picky" foods that I can eat with my hands. I eat sugar free 110 cal maple-brown sugar oatmeal..... a few walnuts and cranberries added are nice... 3-4 tortilla chips with refried Beans and a dab of melted cheese with salsa...

I ended up wearing the demi-corset(goes to just under the bust...only takes off 2 inches...)... took not great photos, but judge for yourselves! Also some from the party too.... It was as awesome as I could have hoped it could be! These people you are seeing in the photos are all guests, there where rooms and rooms of "oddities", art, peep shows, puppet shows, plays, musicians, DJs, live painting, contraptions, psychics, and great venders, lots of hand made hats, cloths, jewelry and the like.... perhaps 7 big rooms of cool stuff, a bar in every room.... the ladies room had two "feinting couches" in it and lots of ladies sitting down because the corsets were so tight! There must have been 300 corsets in attendants, and the men looked fantastic! Really got into dressing up too. San francisco is great for that! -

Oh holy cow! Why do some people have to act like this!? So sorry, that would feel like a kick in the gut to me too... It was NOT anything you did... I do think something else is in the mix...with him.... but really, there must have been a better way to deal with it. He sounded like a great guy, but perhaps his inability to be mature in this situation is the same reason he is having an open relationship with a youngster, and not a full on relationship with an adult! -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Keep up the good work Angel! We all slip now and then, but you don't have to give up.... stalls are horrible! But when you give up, that is worse, because there is no chance to get it off... fast or slow. I use the 5:2 also, after gaining 22 pounds and not ever reaching goal... I finally got to goal at three years out! Who cares if it took 3 years!? Not me, I am glad to have gotten there, and now face the challenge of keeping it off. You can too. -

Wanda, so glad to here that the scale is finally tipping in the right direction! getting in the groove. Sorry to hear about Uncle... We have some great memorials, confirmations of life too... I still cry when I say goodby, but coming out to testify to a life well spent is awesome. Shelia, glad you had a nice bday with family and friends. A 3" at Subway... Im afraid I can get down a 6 inch slowly, but surely.... I don't eat meat, so maybe the veggie with a little cheese is more of a slider, but still...I love subway! If I get the chance, I do usually cut off about 1/4 of the bread.... -
How Does the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Affect You?
feedyoureye replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Best of luck on your surgery Linda! .... just read your other post... so sorry.... hope it all works out for you OK. My coverage at work is the next to the lowest the company offers (the lowest has no perscription at all...)... but my WLS still only cost me $3000. -
Sounds like part of a reasonable plan. I have gained weight listening to what I thought was my reasonable inner voice, and moderate eating... but add accountability (MFP, weighing, balancing nutrition...) to those practices , and it works very well for me. I try not to have any enemies in my plan, except blind feeding.
-
Big congrats to you! How long did it take, and do you feel like you can keep it up to maintain (maybe 6:1) ?
-
I am not near as sporty as you, and don't have the same problem as you... but was told by my Dr that depression comes with the WLS often. So I keep an eye out for it, and do feel that way sometimes too... with anxiety. Hopefully with the resolution of that, your routine will get back to normal. It would be very hard for me to eat 3000 a day, of good quality food, thats for sure! I eat up to 1600 on days that I exercise, and it feels like a feast! Perhaps weight gain shakes? Spacing out your meals to fit more in? Good luck with that, it sounds like a challange. Perhaps Butterthebean can chime in here, he runs a lot and seems to keep things in check...

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Sleeved, When you hear about a "lifestyle change" it is so true and so hard to change unhealthy habits that are in place... sometimes for a good reason... Then realizing that the changes adopted during a "diet" need to stay around forever! WHAT!!!? But its true. That is a life style change. Forever. I see people here say "That is 50 pounds gone forever" and I think... well if you keep up the good work, then probably yes... but I also know how my mind can just shut off if I let it, under stress or vacation, or name your trigger...and I go into shark mode (roll my eyes back in my head and open my mouth and start chomping ) The damage is already done when I get on the scale weeks, months later.... So the lifestyle change that has worked the best for me is keeping my eyes open. Even if I slip up or make a carb monsters dream choice... I know what I have done, and I write it down, and I weight the next day and I write that down, and I move on, and not quit just because I "blew it" or more unemotionally said, made the choice once in a while.Sometimes medication, injury, or circumstances gets in the way of success... but even then, we can make the most of what we have. That is a success too. -
How Does the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Affect You?
feedyoureye replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also have no place to respond to the poll, I have coverage through my work, but did go through the california covered site, and would be paying less if my work dropped me and I got on board of the Affordable care act. My husband, who is self employed and pays for Kaiser for himself, will be paying around 20% of what he pays now when he switches over. I would also pay a little more to support a compassionate society. My insurance has gone up so much during the last few years that my income has dropped dramatically as a result. Something had to be done and this is it! Perhaps single payer will come next.
