How was your 5:2 day today?

Wanda, I agree with Jane, the drop dead date just leads to disaster for me too... but having the 10 pound goal is good and doable. I have a 5 pound goal right now, and I have confidence I can do it, but when? Don't know. Just know I'll get there some day! Hey, I think I might add another ticker to my signature... for those last 5 pounds..... I couldn't post another weight ticker, so chose a bmi ticker... if I lose 6 more pounds I will be in the "normal" range...even though we all know that bmi measure is BS...and I will NEVER be "normal" ... it would be a better place to bounce from for me. I really don't want to change my weight loss ticker though... I want to be at goal even if I am trying to lose 6 more pounds! I feel like I have gotten to goal.....

    NSV shout outs

I am a painter. I posted a painting the other day for some friends to see. It had my face in it, and some other background things... anyway, one of my friends here said "is that an older painting? You need to do a new one showing how you look NOW" I didn't even realize I was painting myself "fat"

How was your 5:2 day today?

Hi All! There is a form you fill out with all your measurements from your optometrist (is that who does the measuring?) Anyway, that does the trick. You can then have them tinted if you want, they have many color/darkness choices. Its not much more, maybe 10$ I think... I have experimented on different shapes and types... colors... the pair I am wearing mostly now gets tons of compliments... even from my friend that sells frames at a very upscale eyeware shop... she said they look like $500 frames... I paid around $69 including the bifocals.... I wonder if Butter and Legal even remember we are here! ( I know Butter does, but not sure if he has ever been here himself?) I'm glad you and Bill are working things out, so glad you are happy... I have "co-habitated" with a Steve and a Steven Ray..... one after the other... not so many name slip ups that way!

swiz, I just can't believe you haven't lost on 5:2! Our bodies really have their own idea about things don't they?! That weather is really something, we are having a drought here at this time, and It just started sprinkling outside (at last something!) Last week it was in the 70's! I know that sounds great, but without water, all the agriculture and such are screwed. Hope things start looking up for you soon, I know cold and dark don't help one bit! sarah, you are a sweetheart! Thats all I have to say, you just are! I just figured out the last time I weighed this much was in 1985. That is a head trip!

I look very squishy too, with folds of Sharpei skin in a couple of places... (!) But I do look pretty good in cloths, I feel confident in cloths. I am 60 though, and know the wear and tear of life will do that to you, let alone years of being obese... I think you should consider a "corset" style swim suit! Do they make such a thing? http://www.ecrater.com/p/11223739/victoria-secret-jantzen-retro-pin-up?gps=1&id=20539275859

I responded with congrats and old school dancing bananas on post 3415! Hey Florinda, it may just me, but I felt a little "betrayed". Its like, you say you were saving it up for a big surprise, but I was feeling for you and all your difficulties, including not losing any weight, for months.... (I felt like) you were kind of lying about the good news. Not sure what that was about, and then you were all hurt that you did not get the big hurray when you revealed. I felt a little used emotionally.... I am still happy you have lost the weight, I am actually ecstatic about it... after all your efforts, but just left me a little cold... I thought we shared here. Here of all places where losing weight may not be everything now... but it did bring us together in the first place....I want to share your success in real time... just saying. I think defining your goal is a really good idea...just waiting for it to be recognized when you get there is really some kind of limbo. Even if you reach a stated goal, you can always change it if its not enough or too much... but there is power in stating a goal... thats why picture boards are so powerful, visualization....perhaps a piece of clothing to get into, an activity in particular, or something like that... not necessarily a number...I am so happy that you have seen some movement, I know how that can really energize things. Coops, I hope you get to the bottom of whats making you feel down energy wise... I used progestrone cream from a health food store... it took around 3 months to really kick in, but the flushes went away, and my wonky sleep patterns, strange thinking and energy really got better... I read this book...... it really helped...I believe this is the newest version... http://www.amazon.com/What-Your-Doctor-About-Menopause/dp/0446614955 I have finally gotten to the bottom of my bounce range again... even around 2/10s of a pound more... those pesky Christmas pounds have really been a blitch! I managed to pretty much stay in my bounce range, but the upper limits.... so happy to push it down again... Im shooting for 5 more.... so when I bounce, it won't be back into the 170's... head trip.

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

Welcome back, you have only gained a little bit, and I think you are at just the right place to get that off and clean up the habits so it doesn't happen again. I like sweets too, and have some every day, but I mostly make them myself, so I know whats in them, reduce the sugar/carbs and fat, and still enjoy! I know cold turkey is the way for many, but I choose moderation. Have you checked out eggface? She has recipes for Protein ice cream, cake and Snacks, that are just fine to include in a day. Its one way to go.

The sleeve has made me a snacker.

I snack too, 3 meals, two snacks and a desert/snack. I am in maintenance now. Gotta just find what works. I just make sure I write it all down and keep track.

    Complete Stop at losing

Welcome to BP! Its a great too to help you get back on track, and get the support you need. I also use MyFitnessPal every day, and write everything down. I find it helps me say "no" to some eating when I know I have to face the facts at MFP. I also use a fitbit, and that helps me to see how much I am burning through activity as well. It is compatible with MFP which is nice. I would personally not eat less than 1200 at a year out... especially if you are exercising. I eat part of my exercise cals back as well. Others may disagree with this. I stalled out around a year, and even gained some weight in the second year. I used the 5:2 and this broke my stall-gain and I got the gain off, and got to goal where i am now. I use the 5:2 to maintain. Do take your vitamins... I don't think they will make or break your weight loss, but being low in Vit D and B12 is NOT a good idea for other reasons. Even though you are a "vet" because you don't have much history here you may not be able to post in the Vets forum, but you can find some 5:2 information to read there, and some here as well... do a search if you are interested... its basically a 2 day a week calorie reduction plan.

You look positively tiny! I am so happy these corsets are so nicely made! I know you probably posed with arms down because of the "underarm" (not that I can see anything at all) but really, you look fantastic, and will wow someone with that corset for sure! I need to get mine back out and try it on! I have the "underarm" going on ... but layered up with some nice jacket or blouse, who cares!

eyebuydirect.com I have a code there... if someone I recomend buys something and enters my code I get a discount or something. I have bought maybe 8 pairs of bifocal and bifocal/sun glasses there. Always happy, and cheep enough to afford a coupld of styles/colors. code # IFTAAZXH6S Their return police is a hoot, one of the legit reasons is "my boyfriend doesn't like them" check the sale section first... some good deals there....

does it close in the middle? Is it the top or bottom that doesn't close? Perhaps you can pick up a small piece of fabric to add onto the existing panel...? Is i a Juliette? Picture please! I have not even tried mine on yet.... I wonder if mine is too small as well... I have only worn the 3/4 black one, and that was fine.....

Thinking of doing the 5:2 plan

Keep in mind that the 2 in the 5:2 is eating normal/less including lots of veggies to help keep us from burning out on a "diet". The fast refers to the open time period where you rest your digestion. It is not eating "nothing all day" like some fasts... it is realy calorie restriction with a fasting window. They recommend 500-550 for women, not less. my 2 cents.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I think the 5:2 is much the same as other "diets" in that we can get bored of the same old habit... and might get excited over something new. i have checked out so many diets over the years... at first I was so excited, and hopeful that I could make the new changes last.... but few of them lasted. (a few did at least!) I have to say sometimes I meet a fast day with less than enthusiasm... really not so much when I first wake up, but later in the day..... the last part of the day when that spoonfull of PB just slides right down before I even notice I did it. BUT and this is a BIG BUT(not butt... ) It has worked for me when I use it, and even sometimes when I don't. I do 6:1 some weeks too... and 5:2 some weeks when I pull it together and there is not too much distraction (I have a short attention span around food and partys...) Some days I have to re-evaluate my commitment to the plan....What else has worked better for me in the past? What is new out there that might work better than this has? I think there is some room for maneuvering and freshening up the plan...Some feast days I eat over my MFP calorie limit... I just choose to do it... my reasoning is, that the 5:2 plan says you can. I know I am not "normal" and this might be dangerous reasoning... usually its not over, and the days that it is, are not that often. I figure if I can't maintain with the sloppy way I do things, I will have to tighten up again. But I learned from the Buddhists, who know about vows.... when you take a vow, the first time you break the vow, it gets easier to break it again... and the more you break it, the less power the vow has. Keeping a vow is not always easy, but there is great power in it if it is the right vow for you. So I try to look at it like that... I take breaking it seriously, because I think it might be the right vow for me. You can re-establish a vow... but you really have to feel it in your heart enough to get over the little voice that has broken it in the past... ...and heII yes Florinda, that kind of slipped by me too.... you are at you lowest again? Well, then you are on the very edge of getting below that! How cool is that!? Take it girl, take it and run with it! Party time!

    da Vinci

My bariatric surgeon is a robotics professor at my hospital... he did part of my surgery with robotics three years ago... don't know if it was DaVinci... They had me strapped to a board standing upright during surgery! That must have been a sight!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Florinda, please make more of your life than the shape of your butt...is that really all you think of yourself? I know "looks" are stressed in our culture to the extreme (mostly in advertising... I know how you feel about that!) every minute you concentrate on the size/shape/imperfections of the body, the magic stops. You know how to fast and work out... what you need practice in is loving kindness and the spirit of adventure! Make your life sing girl... it may be harder than focusing all your feelings and attention on your butt (fill in the word with whatever is bugging you about your body) but the rewards are so much more liberating. For you, for others as well. We know your a bloody genius... so go use it on this, OK? 2 cents...Love ya! so glad your going home. What a relief that must be!
