Help! No Weight Loss - Over 1 Year Out Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to Finally!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took three years to get to goal. I stalled after year one, then actually gained 22 pounds "eating what I want but less" I also tried a couple of plans to get that off (Southbeach phase one did get 5 off) then was introduced to the 5:2 plan (see in the Vets forum) That helped me to get to goal, and I use it to stay in maintenance as well.check out this info if interested http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291240-52-links-and-info/ Do you take a PPI? Sometimes hunger is acid production or thirst. Best of luck! -

The rain is going to keep coming for a few more days, then a break. The rivers are really high, hope lots of it soaking into the ground to fill the water tables. Its still not going to be enough, but glad to get what we can. We have implemented some water saving things around the house.. our water bill went down 12 dollars last month because of it (we are on a meter) What do you think Sheryl? http://ilarge.listal.com/image/1486219/936full-greta-garbo.jpg Have a great time in Cabo. Nice to see you Skinny! I got into ancestery.com this weekend. Like I don't have enough to do! My mom has a progressive dementia, but is in love with her pictures and the stories about the people in them, so I thought I would work with her to make a family history book. It has been fun so far.... -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still in the "honeymoon" phase of the process at 6 months. It does get harder later on when you can eat more, you may be board of the process, and hunger may return. You have lost 5 pounds in 6 months?.... do not take the sleeve for granted, and really get those good habits to stick now, you will need them even more later. I have never gained. I'm a woman. 6 months post surgery. -

Coops, doing 5:2 with the hubby sounds good, wish my hubby would consider... but really he would become a 5:2 tyrent if he really got into it... . Globe. I feel for you. Having all the focus on you and your weight loss efforts and how you eat must be really uncomfortable. They REALLY don't know what they are talking about. I guess you could do two weeks and get a buddy to watch your every move, and show them the reality... but really, thats not any way to live. And you have done so well, getting those pounds off and keeping them off during the move... thats fantastic! Well, I got new batteries for my scale... it was weighting me a little wonky. It measures body composition... So I checked my body fat, and 28.4. I feel good about that... I thought it would be more...under 30 is my general goal there. Of course, less is better ... I am working on being happy at this maintenance spot for a while. Maybe trying to get 5 more off this summer. -

Please Help Me Wrap My Head Around This...
feedyoureye replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Do you have a full length mirror in your house? I take the time to check myself out- get a reality check on my size and how I look. I don't always see it, but it does help me believe. -
So our running forum is to danged long for me to go back and get the actual discription that Sheryl left for us, so I will do my "take away" from what she posted and start it here! I have beed doing this for a couple of days and decided to post as an exercise. Join me if you would like to! We all have some self talk going on, some good and some not so good. This morning I heard some self parental type voice tell me "you are crazy" OK. I caught it was a condemning and not very compassionate or true statement, and decided to rebuttal. No, I am not crazy this morning, I am actually a little unorganized and sad. I then went on to look at why/where I was disorganized (that was a long list!) and why I was sad. (it is often just a couple of things that make me sad, this was one of them, I have been hearing about a new book out reviewed here: http://www.npr.org/2014/02/11/275404707/the-earths-sixth-extinction-may-be-one-of-our-own-making about the current big extinction going on globally. It makes me sad and mad and makes me feel a little guilty for just being a human being. I realized I would be willing to die to stop the greater extinction cycle... but also know well that this will not stop anything. It strangely did make me feel a little better, going there and realizing how passionate I am about this. So I am not crazy. just disorganized and a little sad, and at least some of that I can change. 90 day watch will put us around April 14th. So I will try and post any "crazy voice stuff" most of those days. The other day I told myself "You are a mess" .....that kind of thing....

Nice to hear from you, what a mess! The workers at my job are currently organizing. Do you have Union representation? We saw so much disrespect and decline in our program, we didn't see any other way to go. We are voting in 20 days. Just read the article... YIKES! What a stresser that must be! -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Thanks you for having the strength and courage to come back and post your situation. Many have come and done the same before you, you are not alone. I gained 22 pounds before I found the system to turn it around and get to goal. You can too. For me it was those things that Pdx mentioned above... log everything I eat every day... use every tool at my command, fit bit, MFP and the 5:2 protocol (you can find info on that in the Vets forum if you are interested) I can not depend on my senses to steer me towards the right food or amounts, so I HAVE to write is all down every day whatever I eat good or not so good. I found 1200 a day plus eating back part of my exercise calories (between 1200-1600 a day) and using a semi fast on two days a week... 500-600 cals on those days. No drinking with meals or after, keeping the protein up, vitamins, lower carbs. For those days/weeks where we get off plan for whatever reason, keep a bounce range that will trigger a stricter plan to get back in line before the pounds really rack up. It is harder to lose further out than earlier out after WLS. You are not alone! -
Perhaps just keep track of what you eat, use your MFP to remain conscious about what you are eating at this time of stress. This helps me, even if I make some impulsive choices, I don't lose sight of my actions and completely run the train off the cliff. My sympathies to you and your friend. Maybe this is the time to spend some time cooking, healthy dinners for mom and yourself? Make sure there are healthy snacks in your purse for hospital visits and times where you just don't have the energy to take care of yourself.

I love how you are not running from the pains of life, and really seeing them in a somewhat analytical way... which takes the sting out and allows for perspective. I don't see/smell any cr*p here! Never! (((((((( <3 <3 <3 ))))))) -

How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Met with the Doc and Nut today. They were over the moon(I wished I had asked what the average weight loss at 3 years is at the office...). Only suggestions were more protein (at least 80), I can eat more on regular days and less on fast days if it evens out to 80. Take vitamins with some iron, not because my iron is low at all, but they are looking into the distant future and iron levels in the long run. They said they would feel better if I had breakfast on fast days. Great post Georgia! No way you look bigger on the bottom! That empty spot. The thing that fills it up for me a bit is bird watching. I am thrilled, I cry, I just feel so much when I am communing with the birds/nature. It fills me with wonder, grief, I feel small and privy to the secret life of birds and animals. The feelings that "fill the hole"are not just happy or nice... they are the full gamut of feelings all rolled together. I think taking the treasure gained from filling the hole needs to be shared somehow. I am taking photos that I share, and hope to become a better person from my exploits.... and share that somehow... I want to die with no regrets. -

Nice to hear from you all and all your perspectives. .. special optimistic heads up about the puppy, PetSmart seriously need to step up and help with the bills.... how about a free insurance plan as well as some money for bills after she pulls through for a start? I am going to my 3 year check up after work today. My labs are in, and they look OK, the cholesterol is still up a little.... I really don't want to go onto statins.... normal/high is 200 and I was 207...... -

Science of why and how the pouch / sleeve works
feedyoureye replied to mistysj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a BMI under 40 also... You do know that with co-morbs 35 is the standard? If our Docs approve, what business is it of anyone else? I lost 91 pounds, had a BMI of 38, The health insurance costs will be helped by me losing weight and not turning into a full blown diabetic with those costs into the future. -

i agree Georgia! Globe, Really like the new voice you have found and are exercising! Sheila, My old pup is right on the edge healthwise. The doc said if anything happens to her where she needs an operation, she doesn't recommend it. That means a broken leg would spell the end for her. . Your pup is so lucky to have you, and if/when she pulls through, she will be a treasure for you and your family. What a rotten way to start life, I have never heard of a pup getting fixed at 6 weeks! ....but theres a new mom in town! and things are changing for the better. Cathy, your dogie had the best time! I like it when they are all worn out from so much walking and stimulation. We call it "picking up her Pee-mail" when our pooch goes out for a walk and a sniff. Hope the rest of you are finding satisfaction in life this weekend! -
