1.
The honeymoon is not over. Things may be slowing down, but with a kick in the Assticle you can get back on track. Do start using MFP if you are not. Eat a good Breakfast, then go through the kitchen and get brutal. If you have family that eats crap, then lock it in a cabinet and give them the key. Make a safe cabinet of stuff for you, safe Snacks and what you need to make safe meals. Same for the fridge. I find if I have the right stuff to eat, I will eat it. If you go off track, log that too. Start really looking at what you are doing daily. I find this helps me so much. Just "living life" and not paying attention gets me into trouble. I would like to think I have gotten past this at three years, but I have not. I have two forms of exercise I do every week. I use a fitbit. I wish I could just listen to my body, but my body always want to eat and sit on the couch! If I cook lots of veggies and food that I like that is healthy, then I tend to feel full and not want junk as much. You can do it. I used the 5:2 method to finally get the regain off and get to goal. THe Vets that use this do not recommend it to those under a year... still in the honeymoon... follow your docs plan untill then.

2. I know! Those little devils! I lost weight on reduced carbs, not low carbs. I try to mostly stay with low glycemic carbs though, and save the refined stuff for the very rare treat. Whole grain, eaten with Protein, I do substitute artificial sweetners in my cooking (stevia mostly) to satisfy my sweet tooth without eating refined sugars. I do watch carbs on MFP,and just try to follow their recommendations or less.

What causes regain?

I think it was a complex of different things that started my regain... more hunger, long term company, vacation eating and an injury... and not keeping my eye on the ball every day so to speak. Bam, 22 pounds up. It took a while to get it off, using the 5:2, I am at goal now... but still acting like I am in the losing phase to just stay here. I weigh, log and keep track of exercise every day now.... no mater what... if I eat like crap I write it down. At three+ years this is working for now!
4. You are only 3 month out GP, All of us felt like you do now... things can and do change later for many of us.
5. Watchdog here, keep in mind that this is the vets forum, that means that you need to be a vet over 12 months after WLS to start threads, or to post on them. This is the only place on the Bariatric Pal that this is the case, and vets post all over the forum. Read on, we all hope the info here is of value to everyone.... and it wont be long before you can post here too!
6. It can be harder to lose regain, so stoping it now is the best! I gained 22 pounds, and found the 5:2 worked the best for re losing. It was not lost fast, but did come off fairly painlessly. Check the 5:2 links in the vets forum for detials. I would say that 900 cals is too low to maintain on? I could not keep that up myself... I do start with a min of 1200, add more for exercise, and follow the 5:2 protocol two days a week at around 550 cals to maintain. Best of luck to you!

Can't stop losing

I agree with Isereno ^^^^^ Plan, and get in more calories, if you don't track, you might try that... I wouldn't stop exercising, but choose your poison... don't over exercise...

What causes regain?

Hi K33, thanks for the great question, I am going to move it to a non-vets only forum, where vets and others can answer. This forum is for 12 month or more out vets only to post.

Hi Earthy, I am going to move this great question to a non vets only forum, vets will still be able to answer, but the vets forum is for Vets over 12 months only to post on, Thanks!

How was your 5:2 day today?

I talked to my Doc today about getting the shingles vaccine... she is putting the paper work into motion... if Insurance approves it, I will get it.

Recommitment

Whats the 5:2? Like I said in the post above yours, read the link. It is not recommended by the vets to anyone under 12 months. Do follow your Doc and Nuts plan until then.

Recommitment

http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291240-52-links-and-info/ watch the video, read the links. After not reaching goal, and gaining 22 pounds I started using this plan, and finally got to goal at 3 years post WLS. I have been at goal for 3 months, and recommit twice a week this this plan. Losing the regain is harder than losing it the first time... so no time like the present to get back on plan!

need some tough love from my fellow vets!

Oh good coops! I had to take it for closer to 12 weeks for it to really kick in, and then it really took care of all of my symptoms, sleep, "thought disturbance", hot flashes...

How was your 5:2 day today?

Oh hell! The bills are probably a paperwork SNAFU if its supposed to be free..., (hopefully!!) But the Taxes due... time for a great tax wo/man in your life! I always said, I would be happy to pay taxes, it means I'm making money! But really, I don't make enough to pay much. I do have a good tax preparer who finds every stinking deduction to bring things down legally....

How was your 5:2 day today?

Great Post Denise! I live in Sacramento, maybe if we have some time we can hook up for coffee or something while you are here? BariatricPal Hosts at the very bottom of the Gastric Sleeve forums page. Sounds like a hell of a day Florinda! Those oreos are the devil to me as well.. The last mini binge I had I at least took the "stuff" out of the middle first.... There are very few things I just can't have in the house, but those are one of them! 7 pounds must be at least 6.5 of water... drink lots of water, chop the salt for a few days and that might help. Do you think the hip is an injury? Run for your dreams girl! The sooner you head for them the sooner you will be living in them! Almost any situation contains a blessing. Even the hellish ones! The list you gave of "loser" traits you fear will make you up, all can be fixed, learned from, or used for something good. You are a creative person... dont forget to look at the possibel up side of any situation, and go there! I want one!!! My weight has been farting around the high end of my bounce range for weeks. I did a fast yesterday and bam... down to the low end. I have to say that made my day. I don't like to let these things push me around, but I still like to see that number!

Good luck with that, and do check in and let us know how you are doing!

5:2 Links and info

5 days a week you eat "normally" (for me that means around 1200 cals plus a few more depending on exercise) protein first and the rest of the "sleeve rules" Two days of the week, for me that is usually Monday and Thursday, I only eat 550 (the plan says 500 for women). Create a food rest of 12-16 hours between the time you finish eating and the time you start eating on those two days. Thats it. If you watch the Horizion video it is really worth it, it shows you the evolution of this longevity plan (its not a weight loss plan) and helps you to see how it works. The original plan has you eating "normally" on feast days... like junk, and many of us really don't and cant go back to that, so we have modified those days to be a lower sets of calories and to follow the sleeve rules.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I know, a search is worth the effort... and sometimes it seems there are those that search, and those that get someone else to do the work for them. And of course there are those that don't even know what to look for, so can't really blame them...

How was your 5:2 day today?

I finally got appt today at 2. 100% sure it is. Rash w blisters over the area and excruciating pain. Wish I gotten the vaccine. My dr wouldn't give it until age 60. ( turned 60inJan) So glad you got some meds! The vaccine works after you have already had an outbreak? That is great to hear as well. I finally got appt today at 2. 100% sure it is. Rash w blisters over the area and excruciating pain. Wish I gotten the vaccine. My dr wouldn't give it until age 60. ( turned 60inJan) Georgia sorry to here about the shingles. I asked my PCP for a a shingles shot and he told me I couldn't get it until I was 60. That so sucks. Hopefully it's a mild case and will clear up with the proper medical care. Florinda I love your insight. I think in some ways we are all trapped in our own little boxes and get stuck in our comfort zones..... Perhaps maybe the time is coming to open the door and experience the other side. You are beautiful inside and out whether you realize it or not. I have learned that life is what I make out of it and yes, I too have been doing a lot of contemplating about what I want to do.....I find myself just doing the same old thing everyday. How boring is that. the problem is, I don't know what to do to get out of this box... Lately I have committed myself to being an in home health provider for my friend that is paralyzed from the waist down. I see a different part of life and am coming to realize how lucky I am to have mobility, good health, and wonderful friends. She lives on basics and takes care of herself last which really pushes my buttons so I find myself doing what I do (I'm a therapist), and challenging her to take care of herself. then I have to remind myself to take care of me too. Cathy it's good here I'm not the only one sitting in the back seat. I am working on encouraging myself to bring myself forward too. Yesturday I started out really good and realized that I could do a fast day since I was out of the house and ate minimally. well when I got home, I ate everything in sight! I don't know what happened. It was a ravenous hunger. I ate so much, 2 small slices of pizza, protein bar, piece of sugar free pie and then sneezed for about 5 minutes. It was like I lost my head. SO frustrating...... I know that a friend of mine has this dilemma going on too. I need a coping skill to deal with this issue. What do you guys do if you have this situation? Do you know what causes it? Is it that I'm hungry? Or is it stress eating? So many questions........sorry.... Sheryl I love your pics! You look awesome and sexy! Greta Garbo looks too! Skinny! In home care, thats a job that really needs great people, and Im sure you will be one of them. Lucky friend to have you! My bestie is in a chair, has to have care 24 hours a day in her home... when she finds someone who is good and cares and does not steal... she is so happy. I could never work for her because honestly, I am a slob., and she is not.. but I do love to spend time with her and she is a great gal. You are still young, just go for it girl. Scary as it is, the older you get the more hurdles life can throw up, so live it like you mean it. Its hard to see you as ever being invisible again if you avoid hiding!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Listen to all that good advice from Cathy and Wanda! I think the set up in these "work camps" is made to make it easy to just be there to a degree. All that cooking, cleaning and yes, possible deeper relationships await you here lovely! Its a good question you ask, and only you can really answer it. Do plan for your near future... I for one think it is time for you to get on with your other future, not the austere Afganistan one....that can go in the memoirs later!
