feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hear ya Georgia.... I am fasting today... trying REALLY hard to stay on track.... I have a desert planned in the PM to help me pull through at the end of the day.... Good luck, to me! I am up 2 pounds over my bounce.... I have been eating salty stuff, I hope my fast day will get me back into the range. I feel fat! -
best of luck all!

Cute skirt too! Those pics of your boat time look great! I have a friend that is talking about renting a house in Mexico (maybe Porto Viallarta or something like that) or a month March of next year... and inviting friends to come by... she is choosing a great bird watching area so we can go and do that... I have not been to Mexico for year... starting to save up now! -

I have had panels done several times... Just LDL and HDL... as well as ratios, total, Triglyserides and such... I have started taking plant sterols (spelling?) which may make a difference.... I did manage to get the numbers down a little by eating less saturated fats... family... all on statins. . Well, I'll get back on this wagon... thanks for the ideas Globe. -

Heres a good one, my General Doc asked me to lose 5 more pounds (not because I'm fat, but to try and get my cholesterol numbers down a little) and I am starting to feel like a failure. I know its silly, but I am just not ready to make any more changes than I have already to lose 5 more pounds. I have been savoring maintenance... I have NEVER been in maintenance before.... I was kind of liking it and feeling normal and proud for a change. Its only 5 pounds, and really, the funny feeling is just in my head... but I do feel like I am closer to rebelling and sabotaging myself a little bit more from it... I really want to avoid taking statins if I can do it in another way, but the timing is just wrong. -

Sheryl, your NSV post in the Vets is answered by almost all newbies.... Theres no end to it! -
Thanks for asking a great question, I will move it to a place where Vets and others can answer your question. The Vets forum is for those 12 months or more out from surgery. You are welcome to post there when you are that far out....sooner than you think!

Um-Hum.... and welcome back girl. The old grilled cheese. drool. Im a damn fool for it too. I think I am the only Vet Host left. I will move them. I need to make up a rubber stamp that says " Thanks for asking a great question, I will move it to a place where Vets and others can answer your question. Ian in the same boat. I have gained back 12-14 pounds since Feb 2013. Sweets is killing me. Plus late night Snacks. I still fill up quick but within a few hours I want something. I need help. What is 5;2 (not sure I typed this right)? http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291240-52-links-and-info/ Read these, watch the Horizon docu linked up, its worth it. A few other links of interest as well...

Hi jmpc, I'm going to move this to a non-Vet forum area where everyone can answer it. This forum is the only one on this site that is for Vets only. (you are welcome to read here and can post questions and answers after 12 months out) thanks for understanding!

Globe, I have you beat, yesterday was a "normal" eating day, I managed to add over 500 cals extra. Cake, ice cream, crackers chips, bread, etc etc etc.... I gained 3 pounds in one day! I know its not all fat, but nothing like a salty binge to kick the scales in the ass-end. Fasting today.... TGI fastday! -
Caffein may add acid in the stomach early out... and of course cause sleep loss and aggravation in some.
-
no. Volume stretches the stomach, and caffein will dehydrate you, so drink extra water.
-
Good list... I would add: "there is 20 pounds I will never see again" If you hear this coming out of your mouth, think again. That 20 pounds is around every corner waiting for you to let your guard down. It will hook up with you if you stop being vigilant. The statistically highest time to gain weight back is at 3 years after surgery. Learn what works now and stick with it. Have a bounce range of 2-3 pounds and get back on plan if you go over that. Losing regain is harder than losing it the first time (so I have experienced and have been told by many friends in that boat). Just because you feel like you could NEVER eat enough to gain, guess again... it is quite possible you will feel different about that later. Not a downer, just a fact. You can be successful for the long term, thats what I believe at 3 years out, but it may not look the way it does to you at 1-6 months out....

Glob, Im happy that your mom is finding herself again after losing her husband. Change is the natural state of the world, but that knowledge is small consolation when you want things to stay the same! Now it sounds like you want some things to change, and maybe some of those you can direct. Focus on those, and move out of this state of mind. Like Wanda said, you have a plan. And you are on the road to getting there. One step at a time. hug hug hug! -

So around 1200 cals, lots of protein very low carbs. That looks good, but maybe add in some low glycemic index veggies... salad, low fat dairy? -

Georgia, I don't know if I mentioned this before... I talked to my Doc about getting the Shingles Vaccine... she put in a request to my insurance and it looks like they approved it... thinking of you when I did it girl! My brother has them, and my hubbies sis too (she is in her 40s) -
Hit the thrift store girl... then give them back when you shrink out of them. No need to punish yourself at the last minute! I just went through my closet again for like the 4th time... I still managed to find a black garbage bag worth of too big cloths to give away... I thought I had given them all up except two pairs of giant pants for the record!

Follow your Docs plan... are you tracking everything still? Stalls are normal for most... if you follow your plan, it will come off when your body is ready! If you list your normal day, we can take a look at it for you... -
WANT the Sleeve - but is it worth it for 60 lbs at age 60?
feedyoureye replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won't be on clear liquids forever. Before you know it you will be able to eat anything you want. (and will have to say no again now and then!) don't forget to enjoy your life even now... you signed up for an adventure! -
It just goes to show how different we can be. My BMR is closer to 1300-1400 without exercise.... I have more of the problem of keeping it off. It took me three years to get to goal, and that was a pretty high goal at that...
