I just did a course of antibiotics, so killed off my gut biome... i am now taking a pro biotic in the am and pm for a month... also eating some organic fruits and veggies raw along with cooked. I do not use soap to wash the raw food... just Water if needed. a variety of fibers, cultured foods like pickles, sauerkraut and such...active culture yogurt... the idea is to get a variety of foods to give the biome something good to eat and thrive. Sugar and too much over cooking/processing all the time can really make the biome sick.... so I have read.... -
How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hooked into Ansestery.com 14 day free trial, to see if I could find anything.. of course, the free is over and I am lost in ancestor land! My goal is to print a book for the family. My mom and dad are pretty much the last generation left from the old school... Im going through the photos with them before its too late... I sure don't know who anyone is in the photos. If you have even your mom and dads birthday and place of birth, any grandparents names... the application does a lot of the work looking stuff up for you... census info, death and birth certificates... and with some work other clues... I though my family came over later as well, some of them did, but it is pretty amazing how long many families were here... before the Revolution.... I have found 2 slave owners , a couple of Quakers, some transport ship names.... but hardly any personality.... a few stories.... that is the interesting part, and that is the part that is lost... almost lost... I haven't the time to interview my folks about everything, but trying to get a word now and then... and the best surprise? All the animals. I have pics of people on horseback, with wagons, with dogs, with cats and even a goat pulled cart full of kids. I dont know who many of these people are, but I think I will put a collage together with the animal pics... love them. I know animals are a big part of my life, and I relate to them. I see the ap in the name, and verch must be daughter of? As my friend Jack says "We're in the Zone" meaning old enough to start seeing the end stages of life all around us... I just saw this on Facebook, and thought you might like.... A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles roll ed into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’ The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.. ‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—-the small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn. Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend. -

7 months and told to stop losing and start maintenance.....
feedyoureye replied to sophiepants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Sophie, you look great, and I think you should do what you want as far as a weight goal that is... I think having a little bounce room is smart, at 7 months things are not where they might be after 12 or more months... weight regain is greatest at 3 years out, so a little room to bounce is a good idea. I am going to move your post where others can answer too, this vets forum is only for those over 12 months out to post on. Vets can still answer you where I am moving it to. Best of luck, Kim -
My mom passed away and now it is hard to stay on track.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am going to move this post to someplace where everyone can give answers, not just vets. Take care. -

Some of the most forward and promising research on weight gain/loss has to do with the gut biome/microbial system. This is just one more bit of research. I am going to move this to the research forums here. Other bits of this kind of research is posted there and I think I put some in the 5:2 info links in the Vets forum if you are interested. -

low bmi vs normal and high bmi
feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
under 18.5% BMI is pretty darned "skinny". I think what you say Jane is true, and when you reach that weight, you don't have much to lose before you will die from it....if you get sick or such.... -

Dry sex. Really kills the moment doesn't it!? Got lovely UTI a couple of weeks ago from that. I gotta change something else and get this working better for both of us. -

Thanks for the link Florinda. I'm leaning that way too... Wanda! A play on top of everything else you are doing? That is wonderful! I seem to have my hours maxed out right now, and some things are definitely being left undone. I hope some things can be finished up, or abandoned so I can get to some other things I love (ART!) I have a lot on my mind, and just not sure how to express them in my art yet... Go get'em girls! Just make sure to take care of yourself too... we are in it for the long haul. Love ya all! -

Yep, I see her on MFP now and again. She had a tiff with Laura on a post that kind of blew up a while back. I guess it might have had something to do with that... I just got over a UTI as well... am now taking probiotics for a month to try and get the biome back in shape. http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2013/04/gut-microbiome-bacteria-weight-loss Hang in there girl! You will feel so strong if you get through the day! And best of luck with the interview! Exciting! -

Are your stats wrong: Starting Weight: 212 lbs Weight Lost: 57 lbs Current Weight: 155 lbs Goal Weight: 152 lbs BMI: 24.3 If you weigh 155 and want to lose 3 lbs? No. If your stats are wrong and you weigh 212, I weighed 220 and am 5'4". My thought is, Seriously, are you kidding me? I am 67 and feel like a teenager again. I am shopping for cute clothes again (lol I am off my big butt and just shopping). My husband says woohoo 10 times more than he normally did when he sees me uh in my underwear. I just bought 2 new size 12 bathing suits after wearing the olden black one for 20 years. I am no longer dwelling on old age and bad health and dying, I am young again! Good luck all. She had the surgery 6 months ago... old post.... -

Sarah... so sorry too, please remember we are here to take a break with if you need one. Hurray Georgia! I just dont have the time to police as often as they post! Luckily, I have a great "spy" that helps me to get there and kick when I don't see it myself first... Butter and Laura were such good buddies, I guess its not surprising they both jumped ship at the same time, but really, having this forum is a great support to have in this WLS life we live now. I have to write Laura again and remind her we are thinking about her.... I don't have Butters home email, but I think hes still on MFP... will check there... -

Looks like it. No wonder I am the only host around the Vets forum kicking out Newbie butts at this time! Miss them both! Every thing I have read about it says you may lose weight when hormonally balanced with progesterone...I would give it some time.... You look darling! -

Being a vegetarian.... all that Fiber, cabbage, Beans and such, can really lead to some gasbomb days! The intestinal biome loves to make gas!

How's it going two to five years out?
feedyoureye replied to Rogofulm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Rogo, Vets Watch Dog here... that is the same question I had early on! Still do after 3 years out. This Vets forum is for people 12 month or further out to post questions and answers at... so I am going to move your post someplace vets can still answer, as well as anyone else who wants to talk about it. Good luck with your decision, and by the way, You certainly can gain weight with the sleeve... at three years I still have to keep a sharp eye on my behavior... at less than 2 years I had gained back 22 pounds... I have lost them again... but it is a struggle at times. However saying that, it is still easier to keep the weight off than without the surgery. I love my sleeve. -
