Sleeved two days ago!
feedyoureye replied to seattle sleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad! I thought I got a little personal with you, but I just felt it. Hang in there! I am getting surgery in January and I'm sure I will need the pep talk then myself. -
Sleeved two days ago!
feedyoureye replied to seattle sleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Miss Leslieh, Seriously now, how many people that have gotten the sleeve felt the same rotten way they did just after surgery for the rest of their lives!? None of them girl! You won't either. You just had some major surgery to your tummy, and it needs you to be very nice to it. That means not getting all upset and projecting the most horrid things into your future forever. Relax as much as you can. Don't forget to enjoy something once in a while... maybe the nice nurse, or getting in a little more Water than the last time you drank, or the new jammies some one got you for your surgery... before you know it you will be feeling much better and happy about making such a great big and healthy change for your future. I know things must feel just horrible right now... but don't be your own worst enemy sweetie. I would bet that about 99% of the folks on this site that have had the surgery would "do it again in a heartbeat". Im sure you will be saying the same thing soon too. -
Anyone see Rachel Ray Thursday?

I wondered what fail means too... Rachel looks like she has had some work done on her face/mouth. -
Don't have a clue what to do????????????
feedyoureye replied to a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My gosh Kathy, read on! This forum has tons of examples of people who have revised from band... and had very good success. The side effects from the band can be far worse then the vertical sleeve. Put "Band revision" in the search and read away. -
What are my chances???

Now stop me if Im wrong, but isnt DS a two part surgery? Months apart? What if you get approved then get the first part, then just never get the second part? -
60 is very handy! I just ordered True Protein samples, it has 45 gms per serving... and 188 calories- no carbs...I will have to see how it tastes.... https://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=22&pid=6797

Sooo....should I not be eating carbs?
feedyoureye replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a vegetarian, so I will be eating lots of carbs. I do eat eggs and dairy, so that will help... but beans, tofu, even dairy has carbs. oh well. I will see how it shakes out when I am eating after the sleeve. I will be putting proteins first, and the protein drinks will help too. I did lose weight on Southbeach, as a vegetarian, without a lot of carb fueled hunger. -

Im confused... The 100% Whey Protein AMP from GNC label says that one serving is 20gms of protein. You must be using three servings at a time? Thats 390 calories plus milk...x 2 a day....? I guess 800 calories isn't bad with 120gms of protein.... Is this your pre-op diet or after? Thanks for clearing things up for me! oh, and I love your quote, so true!

feedyoureye replied to Billy363627's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Theres always Egg Nog protein shakes.....dash of cool whip and nutmeg on top.... brandy extract..... I wish I could get mine then, but I am going to New Zealand for Xmas. I had to wait till my DH comes back in January, two weeks after me..... I would miss all the chow... but really, my health is the best gift I could give myself or my family. -

looking good! -
....how many of us will die prematurely without the surgery? That is why this .5 percent is an acceptable risk...
-
The weight loss center that I am going to has had one death over the years (well over 200 people). They talk about it openly and talk about the details too. They said that the person had a heart attack. They are not entirely sure, but they think it was a chemical imbalance. The Dr says that even if the odds are very good for patients, for that one in (fill in the blank) it is 100% dead.

So you had 85 to lose and lost 60... thats not minimal! That may not have been 100% but the stats say the average loss is around that for the sleeve. Gaining 15 lbs must be disappointing... Get back on plan... protein first, lower carbs, exercise a little every day, drink your water. Losing 5 lbs from exercising is great over two months... keep that up for life and I would think you should get to where you want to be. Good luck and don't give up, you signed on for some changes with the sleeve as your little helper. Do you have access to your nutritionist and such still? Perhaps a review with her, and when I log what I eat in a nutrition counter on line, its lots easier to keep on track. Maybe it will be for you too. I find its allot harder to write down junk filled days! Believe it or not, this keeps me from eating extra junk... I just hate writing it down and taking responsibility for eating it all! lol.... good luck to you tweaking your course a little towards better health and those last few pounds.

Four months out and reality has kicked in
feedyoureye replied to Estrellita's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Estrellita, My nut said to expect to average 10 pounds a month, so by her definition, you are right on track! Congratulations on that weight loss! I know it is hard to change habits, and it sounds like you are working on it, which is good. You might have lost more so far if those self defeating habits had not been there, but the gift is, now you see them more clearly, and are working on it. I don't think you are a failure at all. Just keep going back to the basic rules... you see them here everyday and your Doc gave them to you I'm sure. Protein first, veg/fruit second. Try 5 small meals or three meals and two Snacks to help keep hunger away. Eat these meals even if your not hungry at the time. Plan ahead for the day. Drink a Protein Drink before going out for dinner to help keep you from eating something that does not add to your healthy nutrition needs. Taking your Vitamins? Using an acid reducer? Don't drink 5 minutes before/with/30 minutes after meal, keep track of protein/calories/water- EVERY BITE/SIP, fitday or something like it helps. try and get some exercise in over the course of the day. This will get you the weight loss you need for better health. When I do not write down what I eat, the calorie count goes up. For some it goes down, but I don't think this is your problem at this time. Make sure you have friendship and activities in your life that you like. Don't make food your only and best friend..... Good luck! Stick to this site, they will support you when you need it! -
