I was wondering about sizes post op
feedyoureye replied to sarahh1828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Then lets do it! I think being on this forum really gives us all a better chance at success. Being isolated is not what is needed now. -
Globetrotter, Even if you don't know everything, its clear to me that you are one smart cookie. Just do your research, read relationship books, talk to a councilor if you can, take your time. I would say, just stay out of bed for a while, get to know the guys well, and love yourself enough to be good to yourself. Perhaps meet some gal pals outside of work? Have you tried meetups? http://www.meetup.com/ there are lots of options to meet new women friends as well as men with real similar interests.

I was wondering about sizes post op
feedyoureye replied to sarahh1828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sizes have changes a lot.. around 1980 I weighed 146 and worked out, I was a size 11-13. I'm, 5'9" It sounds like now it would be around a 6-8.....Vanity! My doc asked me if I would like to lose 50 lbs. I weighed 250 in his office...I said yes, but would like to lose more... he has lower expectations than I about weight, but the same expectations in health. He also told me he believed that the sleeve will likely gain more weight back in the long run than RNY. I guess we don't agree on that one, but the results are not in yet....I hope to prove him wrong on that one! -
There ya go, that is going to work for you!

Anybody head of this alternative to protein from food/shakes?
feedyoureye replied to armstrong1003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If they are made of collagen, I would limit their use to once in a while. My Nut said they are a no-go. The quality of the protein is rather low. Collagen is made from boiled animal hide. If you can't get any protein down except this, then it is better than nothing for sure. -
I've been belly dancing for 2 1/2 years twice a week. Im lucky my gym has a great teacher available included in my membership price. I love it so much! I like you am not "sporty". I always say, what other exercise can you do where you get to ware jewelry, go barefoot and listen to awesome sexy music? The girls in the class are really nice and we are a little team now. We actually did a public performance last summer! I partly did this surgery for the class... I knew my knees were getting worn out and I want to be able to belly dance much longer! The fitness I have achieved in class let me hike up to two glaciers in New Zealand a month ago... My body shape is so different from class... I have more "shake with those fries" and cant wait to get back to it after my 6 weeks recovery. I will probably do some drills, but I don't want to overdo it. The core will have to go without exercise for a few more weeks...walk walk walk. Have fun gals!

U tube video of the Sleeve operation
feedyoureye replied to Was a humpty dumpty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if this is the same one I watched before surgery, but i watched one and thought it was interesting! I asked my Dr assistant if I could have a copy of my surgery tape... NO! I guess it could be a legal problem... too bad! I would have loved to see it after the fact! -

=( scared of having my sleeve gastrectomy! =(
feedyoureye replied to andre's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree...This surgery is mostly for health, not looks. Many of the people here have health related problems brought on by weighing too much. Its not a weight loss fad or fancy... It hurts and affects how you live the rest of your life. You need to weigh the problems you have with your over weight, against all the problems and restrictions you get from the surgery. You could DIE from this surgery. Many of the problems people here have from their overweight can kill them too, so the surgery makes sense. Get on a good plan to lose your 17+ pounds. Good luck with that, I know 17 pounds can make you miserable too! -
Dont want the Sleeve
feedyoureye replied to FallenAngel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reason the sleeve is being done as a stand alone process is super heavyweight folk were losing enough with the first part of the DS to not have to do the second part. I would listen to your Doc. The sleeve is safer than RNY gastric bypass.... -
How long til cleared for travel?
feedyoureye replied to jencomenz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I waited 3 month to get mine so I would have help around the house. I think its a good idea to wait... you don't want to feel crapy on your cruise, and to state the obvious, the cruise food would just go to waste immediately after surgery. I went on vacation for three weeks out of the country, a month before surgery, and I'm glad it was then. I had enough time after getting back to lose a few vacation pounds, and have my meetings and blood tests and get the house ready for me. The time went by quickly. -
I was sleeved 4 days ago and its drink-gurgle-drink gurgle-burp. I only gurgle after I drink, I think its the liquid going down.
-
Greg, I think this is a mistake, it is 1 oz every 5 minutes, just sipped slowly. If she only drank on oz an hour she would not get enough Water in... or 1 cup an hour drank VERY slowly. Faster can give her pain. Good luck to you and your wife! <div><br></div><div>EDIT: I went bqck qnd checked my rules, it says go even slower than that... one cup every TWO hours at first... just take it slower than you think... it will get better soon... Good luck!</div>

Sip, Burp! Sip, Burp! When will it end?
feedyoureye replied to Foxbins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do burp a little and am happy for it! They are just little burps though. I know the water has gone down when this happens, there is lots of gurgling too... its pretty funny now, but I do hope some day it mostly goes away... I just know that when I drink, there is gurgling and if Im lucky a little burp, I can have another drink. I can drink a little faster than the recommended speed of one oz per 5 minutes, or one cup per hour... its still hard to get all the water in! -

Protein Shakes Post-Op
feedyoureye replied to ozzy22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you will find out how it is for you when you get there. For me, all things sweet now taste horrible. Sitting in the fridge doesn't help for hurt at this time, it still tastes sickly to me. I drank one yesterday so at least I would have the one cup of water to make it and 45 gms protean. I really don't think ungery chicken soup will hit the spot ether... I'm thinking about bean soup today, which my doc says is ok if thin. I'm hoping I get to the point that I enjoy shakes again soon... they will be sooo helpful in getting in the protein. You may have a different experience than me. Its all a crap shoot! We will find our way somehow. My favorite thing to drink? Warm Chamomile tea. Goes down smooth and comfy. Really helping me to get in my water which is my first concern right now. -
Lucky you. Sounds like hes awesome.

HOW BAD DOES IT REALLY HURT after surgery?
feedyoureye replied to onedivanms's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Second day home after surgery- its not so much the pain pain as the all over yuck feeling... little pains, bloating, nausia, weird drug feelings, chapped lips, all the injection sites.. they all add up. But the gas and just getting used to the new situation is unnerving. I think the lovinox helps with the pain, but gives me strange "thoughts" and day dreams I don't like this at all. And my hands are cold. I know it will get better... just trying to keep up on drugs and Water and walking... -
I just got surgery two days ago and there is NO way I could do yoga or pilates yet... I can barely stand up. I am walking a little bit, and hope I will be able to do more of that soon. Don't rush it, you will see what you are capable of soon enough!
