Co worker 3 yrs out and looking great!
feedyoureye replied to Whittle down's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I just posted some research I found here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/12994-ghrelin’s-receptor/page__pid__111468#entry111468 It talks about how the (rats) body reacts to losing its Ghrelin receptors... Sounds good to me! -
Fantastic! Funny how such a little thing can mean so much. Congratulations.

I would count your Proteins too, It would depend on your choice of Protein powder, and the flax meal has 3 proteins per 13 gms....I don't know how this would shake out, but Im guessing the protein may be so high that you can make 6 bars from the recipe. I don't know how many gms of meal would be in 2/3 cup.....
-
I have not done it yet, but there are recipes on line to make your own bars. I think the simplest is a little oat flour, Protein powder or your choice of peanut or other nut butter. Smash together, refrigerate and eat . this one looks good. A little high in fat, but I think you could probably reduce the PB and flax meal a little bit to bring the calories and fat down. Ingredients -4 scoops chocolate Protein Powder -2/3 cup flax seed meal -4 tbsp natural Peanut Butter -1/4 cup Water -stevia or natural sweetener (optional) -2 tbspn coca powder (optional) Directions -makes 4 servings -mix all ingredients in a large bowl and stir. At first it may not seem like it is enough water, but keep stirring and it will eventually become a sticky blob of dough. Add 1 tbsp of water at a time if needed. -divide mixture into 4 equal portions and place in separate pieces of plastic wrap placing them into bars. It's easier to shape them by lying plastic wrap on one side of a small casserole dish, pressing the dough into the natural shape of the dish. -store the bars in fridge or freezer. Once solid, enjoy. Number of Servings: 4 Nutritional Info Servings Per Recipe: 4 Amount Per Serving Calories: 280.7 Total Fat: 14.1 g Cholesterol: 30.0 mg Sodium: 145.6 mg Total Carbs: 13.5 g Dietary Fiber: 8.9 g Protein: 28.0 g View full nutritional breakdown of peanut butter fudge Protein Bar (clean eating) calories by ingredient

What do I know, I'm not a researcher. This study can be interpreted to mean that the removal of the Ghrelyn receptors cause rats to maintain their body temps better....I wonder if any of them asked the rats if they felt cold? http://www.physorg.c...thermostat.html Anyway, research on body temperature regulation has been looking at Ghrelyn and Ghrelyn receptors possible connection to heat regulation in the body... they are looking at how removal of the receptors causes rats to lose white fat and increase brown fat production that helps promote heat regulation and weight loss.

Between the Band and Sleeve, I want the Sleeve...
feedyoureye replied to Infernored's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you printed out some of the findings about the lap-ban vs Sleeve you can find here, would he read them? You can get some very good lists of why it makes more sense to get the sleeve. Check out Tiffikins, and search here... Sometimes a guy just has to read the facts. -
Morphine drip with a button at the hospital, Lortab liquid at home. It really helped the first two days, then I could stop using it. Lortab is liquid hydrocodone with acetaminophen.
-
I would agree that later on, this might be true, but many people here are cold before they lose much weight. My hands were freezing when I got home from the hospital, not a usual problem for me.

Anesthesia is a miracle! We are so lucky to live in a time where we have such good anesthesia and pain management! I met with the anesthesia team, and talked to them a bit. When I was through with all the Dr visits and such, they said they were going to put a little something in my IV to relax me. Boy did it. I don't even remember being wheeled out of the room to surgery. When I woke up in recovery, I had no pain, and the best recovery nurse ever. My husband and I even exchanged numbers because we had so much in common. If I would have had pain or nausea, he would have been there for me to get me drugs or help. I also have Atrial Fibrillation... and never had any problem with it. Just let your anesthesiologist know of any concerns you might have and they will take care of the rest. Adding stress hormones to your body will not make your experience any better. Try to relax and enjoy modern science!

As long as she's not lactose intolerant, I would say cottage cheese or other cheese, other Proteins like chicken or fish... Yogurt.... She may need some Probiotics.... you can get them in some yogurts.

If you take a "sip" every two minutes, and can drink 30 oz in an hour, that makes that "sip" an oz. That is chugging in my book. I can't drink an oz at a shot ...yet anyway. I can drink a cup an hour... maybe a little less... thats 8 ozs an hour. In the old days I could drink 30 oz an hour, but not hour after hour after hour...
