Is anyone having problems with bowel movement?
feedyoureye replied to valleygirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
Milk of Magnesia, tastes like crap, but works good. You don't want to have to bear down too much when its finally time to go... so take care of it early if you can. -
During my vitD research, i read somewhere that if you put mushrooms in the sun for a while, they produce VitD. Its one of the only places you can find it in your food (vegan source that is). Its not enough for therapeutic amounts, but thats pretty cool huh? Mushrooms The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA has been seeking a natural, non-animal food, rich in Vitamin D. That led them to mushrooms. It has been demonstrated that when white button mushrooms are exposed to Ultraviolet B radiation, for a short period of time, the level of Vitamin D increases to levels many times the minimum daily requirement, i.e. 10 mcg. Normally, a serving** of white button mushrooms contains 18 IU (0.45 mcg.). Treated mushrooms contain over 80 mcg.***

pan fried/steamed greens of all types have lots of nutrition... with a little oilve oil and some garlic or thinly sliced onions..salt and pepper. Green Beans Don't give up on the squash yet, with a little Pasta sauce, ricotta cheese and parmesan..... Or perhaps a little eggplant parm fixed in a tiny ramekin... diced fried peppers and onions...with diced veggie sausage.... and ketchup... salsa, diced cucumber with rice wine vinegar , Just dreaming here, the only veggies I have had at one week out are pureed in my pea Soup.

I had to think a minute about the hair thing too, my thick long hair has been my crowning glory when all else was sh*t. I have always gotten tons of comments on my hair. I went and did it anyway. I will use henna just as always, it adds some volume and will get the waist length hair cut into something that will boof up better if I need to. Nothing like long stringy hair to put a dent in ones glamor! I decided that my health is just to important to avoid this change, hair trauma or not! Im sure you know some fantastic stylists that will give you a makeover if you need one.....Girls day out! Might call for some new earrings and lipstick at the same time.

My doc gave me a shot glass of MoM before I left the hospital. I took another shot my first day back (yuck!) IT did get things going the next day. I have also been drinking split pea soup... think the fiber in this has helped too. -
Whats happening now is the worst part of your journey. It will get better and better. No one plans to have to stay in the hospital, but keep your eye on the prize, this will just be a distant memory soon.

I was ready to go to Mexico if my insurance turned me down or if my Doc insisted on doing the RNY... lucky for me, they approved. Good Luck!

My doc and nut said "If you are all crying and feeling strange, blame it on the rapid weight loss! Hormones you know..."

I used to eat tons of fruit, veggies and variety, now not so much, but with time I hope to get more variety in... veggie soups as snacks and fruit in the shakes. I am even now adding a small amount of Acai/blueberry juice to my water once a day (a 1/4 cup). Im talking small amounts of calories... how can this be a bad thing?

Question I have never seen here
feedyoureye posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, when I lay on my back, I think I can feel how my stomach takes up less space. It actually feels like there is less "stuff" in there... sort of an empty spot where the rest of the stomach used to be.... anyone else notice this? -

I don't think 35 carbs is going to derail your weight loss. Just a rotten stall. Sounds like a little depression and anxiety... and who wouldn't feel that way! You are starting a new life. Do you know the saying "You can never go back"? It just means after you experience a broader life, then when you go back to the old places and ways... you are a different you, and it wont feel the same. Take one day at a time... write down some goals and if there is anyone you can talk to, do it. I traveled in India for 6 months, and when I came back home, things looked familiar... but not the same. It was very strange! Good Luck!

Question I have never seen here
feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be, or even just the sensations from the surgery itself, but when I lay down.....theres an "empty" feeling, just a little.... almost related to how it used to feel when I had not had anything to eat in a long while... and my stomach would be shrunk a little... perhaps thats it.... I am on liquids, so maybe thats it. -
How do you get veggies into your pureed and soft food diets?
feedyoureye replied to TynMcsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
veg baby food.... Also, I make split pea Soup and add in some puree vegs... I make it drinking thin, so it is kind of used like Water... except it has veg and some Protein and Fiber in it. -
Hopefully by then we will be in good company....
