powder to volume ratio
feedyoureye replied to Chicadee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have another brand of unflavored, and I mix it in a lot of stuff including coffee, mash potatoes and soup. I just mix it with water or milk first, then stir it in when the other thing is not tooo hot or the whey curdles. I can't taste it much at all. It worked great in the latte, and the best so far is in Thai Ice tea (I use soy milk) The mash potatoes taste good, but the texture is a little different, who cares, its mash potatoes with a blast of protein! Just experiment, sometimes I use half a scoop, sometimes the whole thing. -

VSG and Back Problems?
feedyoureye replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 weeks out and still no back pain! -
Two nights ago My feet wee sooo cold when I went to bed. It kept me up for hours... I finally went to sleep and had a dream I was on a ship that was sinking, and my feet were in icy ocean water as we went down... The real question is why didn't I just get up and make a hot water bottle or something!? The strange thing is my husband said my feet weren't even cold, he usually yells when I put my cold feet on him...it must be some chemical thing from the surgery...

VSG and Back Problems?
feedyoureye replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have back pain. Maybe not as much as you, but right before surgery I had to be very careful of my back, keep my knees bent while laying down and such. I talked to my surgeon and the anesthesiologist about it. They said they could put a pillow under my knees at first.. but during the surgery no go. I was having robotic surgery, and they strap you down on a board that can be moved into an upright position if needed for surgery. I was really worried about the back when I woke up... but when i woke up, no back pain at all. Im sure the morphine helped a bunch, and in my hospital bed I could adjust the bed, but the spasms I was having before surgery just went away. Go figure. Talk to your team. Maybe get a great massage the day before surgery too... -
Bellydance costumes and accessories are many and fun. I'm guessing by your tattoos you follow a tribal style? Check out: http://www.tribalbazaar.com/ They are really nice. You can collect coins, and other stuff to sew onto a bra or belt... perhaps a little packet for each goal, then when you reach the big goal you can sew them all onto a nice bra or vest...? I have bought many cool parts on this site and made coin belts and jewelry....

Body chemistry changes with weight loss
feedyoureye replied to lisaenidok's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many people have vid D deficiency. Its a sign of the times. I was VERY low before I ever had the sleeve. And we have to use calcium citrate because it it hard for us to absorb any other calcium if we are on acid reducing drugs such as PPIs (which can cause brittle bones) because calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. Iron can be a problem mostly if you are pre-menopause. Vit B12 must be supplemented by taking sub lingual pills or B12 shots because of loss of intrinsic factor in the stomach as stated earlier. That is my understanding.... I was very low on B12 before surgery because I am a vegetarian....sublingual tabs brought it right up over a couple of months. -

You can have diet beverages, just let them go flat before drinking if there is any carbonation.

feedyoureye replied to VIV121's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same thing happened to me at the same time. chin up, this will pass. -
I would eat it with something else, like pudding... i find it sticks to my stomach and feels kind of strange all by itself. OR blend it with a Protein Drink...

Went for my Pre op today- 1st I ever heard of a catheter being used
feedyoureye replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They kept talking about the "Foley". I guess it is a kind of catheter that they used on me. After they put it in, they fill a little balloon thats inside the bladder with water that keeps it in place. -

I'm afraid I might be at that 3 week stall

January sleevers how are you doing?
feedyoureye replied to time4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Keep in mind that its not so much how fast you lose, but how successful you are keeping it off. Thats where we have had our downfalls in the past. I know in the past I have not been able to sustain a 600-700 calorie diet for long enough to lose much weight. Its pretty easy with the sleeve. I am at three weeks+ and have lost 21 lbs, (including two days of Clear liquids before surgery) The last 11 days I have lost only one pound. I have lost inches over the last 8 days. I highly suggest measuring, and not just using the scale to feel your success. My doc said why set yourself up for failure with numbers? -
I'm afraid I might be at that 3 week stall
feedyoureye replied to AChristian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax girlfriend! I was sleeved two days before you and starting weight quite a bit more (247) and right in line with your loss. I think we are doing great! Just let the sleeve do the work, stick to the plan and it will keep coming off. I have had some stall time too, 5 days at one weight, lost a pound and on two days at the next weight... If I was weighing every two weeks I'm sure I would never notice I was in a stall ... I have been measuring now and then too, and have continued to lose inches... have you done this? I have decided to celebrate the three week stall! It just shows we are on the same path as all these nice folks that are losing a bunch of weight with the sleeve. PS my starting weight was two days before surgery, when I started a liquid diet for two days, so really I probably lost about the same as you...
