I STILL SEE MYSELF AS FAT
feedyoureye replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
as some here have said, affirmations are a good place to start. Look in the mirror every morning, and before bed, and have a little talk with your self. "You are a beautiful person, and you deserve to be happy about who you are and what you look like" or something like that. Our sensitive selves feel much better when I talk to "them" this way! Treat yourself the way you would treat anyone else you really love... nicely! -
Okay, this is getting ridiculous!
feedyoureye replied to weightnomore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Weighnomore, Im kind of in the same boat...plateau for the last 4 weeks, I do eat 60-70 gms of protein and about 40-80 gms of carbs (I am a vegetarian, and most Proteins have some carbs). I am going to try and eat 1000 cals for a few days and see if that shakes things up... good luck with your efforts, stalls SUCK! -
Genepha, Our story is almost the same. I had surgery on Jan 18th, and the first two weeks I lost 23 lbs... I have been on a plateau, gaining 2 or losing 2 or staying the same for 4 weeks (28 days) so far. I am eating between 6-800 cals a day. I just added back regular exercise this week, walking and dance classes. (I was walking before as well) I just can't believe the scales are not moving! I guess I can try and go up to 1000, kind of makes me nervous, but not losing any weight makes me nervous too! I eat round 4 small meals a day, with maybe a Protein Drink snack. I know I cant stay at this weight forever, Im just not taking in that many calories. Before surgery I was eating between 1600-1800cal a day and losing very slowly, but losing. I a m a vegetarian, and most of my Proteins have some carbs. (40-80 a day) On the bright side, my BP has been good, I have lost 4 inches off my stomach, and people who I haven't told have noticed Just wish I would get off this plateau!

Congratulations! How exciting is that....so awesome. -
Not sure this is a complication... At 5 weeks I went into my Regular Docs for a checkup. She palpitated my abdomen and I was also given a shot for Tetanus and whooping cough which really made my arm sore for two days. I have noticed pain in my knees too...Don't know if this is relevant at all....Feeling fine besides that. I have had no real tenderness in my abdomen at all, only itchy staples at my lap sites. Well after I got home from my AM Dr appointment I noticed some tenderness in my abdomen. Mostly on the right side below my ribs, but also a little bit on the left. It seemed located next to my incision sites, not right on them... but could be where my new tummy is.. kind of hard to tell. Here it is 4-5 days later and it feels the same. Not bad pain at all, but sore. I would have expected to feel this way earlier in the process, but now? Anyone else have this show up later in the process? I have not called my doc, I have no fever or bruising or sharp pain... I start back to work and gym in a few days....

Post-Op Hunger Poll
feedyoureye replied to Can'tweight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I feel hungry-sometimes starving... every two or three hours, I eat a couple of bites of something or small meal, and am done for another three hours. -
I decided to open up about my VSG at work.
feedyoureye replied to brazcan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think its just as likely that they were talking about something else and looking in your direction. I've seen this misunderstanding over and over where I work. -
Orowheat also has outlets in some towns. I buy mine for $1.99 a bag.

when does this get better?
feedyoureye replied to big2twig's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most people gain a bunch of weight with the IV too! If you came here at all before, you saw sip sip sip walk walk walk all over the place... Its very good advice and you will feel better sooner if you do it then if you don't. You do NOT want to go to the Emergency room. -
Weight Gain/Weighing In
feedyoureye replied to Dawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am coming up to 4 weeks of the same three pounds. up-down-up-down-same same same! I have only had the sleeve for 6 weeks so....yuck! Anyway, I have lost 4 inches at my belly button area. (sort of low waist area) I would like to see the scales moving, but I'll take 4 inches off the tummy anyday too! -
I do have one problem!!!
feedyoureye replied to Losingnva's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I just bought stretch 16 pants at the thrift store, to try on until they fit (I can zip... but way too tight still) I was wearing a 22 at the highest... I bought a great cowboy tooled belt at the goodwill today for $2.99.... still too small, but I will love it when I can fit it! -
I was totally out, woke up with a scratchy throat. Easy.
-
I had a half of of one toasted this morning with a one egg and cheese omelet on it... I ate most of it, and saved a few bites for break.

feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In two days I will be at the 4th week of stall (only had the sleeve done 6 weeks ago)... I just started back at the gym last night, so hoping for a break soon! For the last 20 years I have been a slow loser, so why should that be dif now! I do look better and people are noticing, so its ok. Can't last forever! -
Congrats! That is nice to hear.

Can't I just Move on?
feedyoureye replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 6 weeks most surgeons order us not to lift anything over 10 lbs, and such.... You need to walk and make sure you don't dehydrate. Not doing these things can land you back in the hospital. Of course you are fragile for a while after surgery... thats just normal to be cautious for a short while until complete recovery. At 6 weeks I feel great and ready to really engage with all that life hands me. -
Stomach tenderness at 5 weeks

How lond did it take for you to get the surgery?
feedyoureye replied to snowfie9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Western Health Advantage, 6 weeks from first meeting to approval. I waited 3 months for surgery because of vacation plans and my husband being out of town. My insurance allows for Drs discretion about the supervised pre diet stuff and I was at a low BMI and didn't need to lose any weight... others did and took more time. -
Can't I just Move on?
feedyoureye replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be in a fragile state for a while, then it will get better as you heal. You do have to take care, and will have to take one or more drugs a short time and a few Vitamins full time. Drugs recommended after surgery are marked by an * I am on a beta blocker for irregular heartbeat (same before surgery) This also helps my BP. My BP is going down, but I can't get off this med, but perhaps can lower the dose. I'm am on a cholesterol drug, also on it before. I will hopefully get off of this after tests to be done at three months. I am on a drug to help me from getting *gall stones for 6 months after surgery. I am taking D3 and *B12 (which can be low from the surgery) I am a vegetarian, and was low before surgery as well. I am taking *Calcium Citraite which you need to take because of the surgery. I took *blood thinners for 7 days after surgery. I am taking *vitamins, recommended after surgery. I take a *PPI daily for three months before and at least 6 months after surgery to help protect the staple line from ulcers. -
