    Fresh Fruit and Salads

I am at 12 weeks, I have been eating salads for a couple of weeks, with tomatoes and cucumbers just fine. I also have eaten bananas and pealed apples so far... no problem. I have been using butter lettuce, it is nice and tender.

    Peanut Flour

I ordered PB2 as well, but have not got or tried it yet...should get it this week... but PB2 has sugar and salt in it and this does not. I will do a taste test when I get the PB2 and post how it stands up. Also I forgot to mention, after I ate the one cracker with about 2 teaspoons of the stuff on it, I WAS STUFFED. Looks like a go to snack to me!

    Any Vegetarians??

Hi, lacto ove veg here. Its all about the Saitan, tofu, soymilk, cow milk, ricotta, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, eggs, Beans, nuts and nut butter, cheese and invention! I make my own saitan roasts and sausages, you can use store bought meat substitutes too. TSP is cheap and high protein. I try not to rely on only soy, but mix it up everyday. Its easy to slack on the protein when your a veg... so I really make a point of protein first every meal. I just got peanut flour in the mail, and so far I love it! I stuck my finger in the bag and tasted it, and peanutty good, with only 110 cal per 1/4 cup, 16gms protein and 8 carbs, 4 Fiber 4 gms fat. You can mix it with Water and make low fat Peanut Butter... I added a little salt and stevia...yum! Some docs want us to get off the drinks fast... but my doc says go ahead and use them as long as you want. I found a natural fruit one called 4-ever-fit that has 21 grams of protein. I use the "not natural one", and it is good, so I imagine the natural one is good too. They are both made with whey, but the natural one is made from real fruit instead of natural and artificial flavors...look it up, I think the mango is one of the best tasting protein drinks I have tryed, and drink it every morning. keep in touch, we can share veg recipes! Wise Food Choices

Yesterday was the same for me, I snacked all day... I ate about 200 calories more than I was supposed to, but when I look back on it... heck, that is NOT a lot for a one time thing. I even lost almost a pound, didn't expect that! In a bigger perspective, the day before I ate 100 less than i was supposed to, so there ya go.... sometimes your just hungry and sometimes your not. I think having healthy Snacks on hand, and getting back on the horse as soon as possible is the trick. One day will not kill you. Its the day in and day out poor eating habits that will sneak up on you. When I was snacking I asked myself if I wanted to do it and I told myself "Today, yes" and I kept it pretty healthy and today is a new day. I packed my lunch with very healthy stuff, including a big salad. Its good. The guilt does not make my salad taste any better.

    Girlfriend, you look fantastic!
  15. I think my husband is working overtime to eat all the food I am no longer eating. Im sure he is putting on weight, and my grocery bill is going up. I think some of this is true, and some is me being sensitive to how much it looks like people are eating now. It kind of grosses me out at times, but like you say, I am the one who signed on to this! Perhaps you can read the paper or something to keep your attention off the husband while eating, or set him up with a first course before you come to the table....give him a 5 minute head start before you sit down? Does he know how you feel?

    Swollen Ankles

I used to get the swollen ankles all the time, and the surgery has really helped this to stop. Perhaps you have eaten some high sodium food? I think it is good you have made an appt with the Dr, could be something else too...new meds, or something.... good luck with that, post when you find out!

Where can I get a binder from???

Not sure what a binder is.... like a elastic wrap? Maybe a sports or medical supply store?

Do NOT do what I did today!

Believe me, it is much easier to learn to eat more slowly and plan for Snacks than it is to remain 100 lbs overweight for the rest of your life! I love my sleeve!

    Undergrad reunion coming up...

Will I eat and feel good inside again?

At almost 12 weeks, I can eat anything (that i have tried so far). I do have more restriction in the AM. I try to keep an eye on the portions, so I don't go over the top, but really, I have almost never gone over the top. I eat about 2 1/2 ozs of dense protein, and then some other stuff, I can eat almost a cup of salad greens, or a 1/2 cup of noodles (once in a while), or 1/2 cup of veggies or one egg with 1/2 english muffin. Then I am done.

    Am I obsessing?

The proof is in the pudding. You have lost 42 lbs in 6 weeks. It looks like your body and sleeve are in tune as one. I think (just guessing) that your stomachs swelling reduced quickly. I have heard that it has to do with the length of your sleeve, and how it is situated in your abdomen as well. I say keep up the good work and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
  23. Dr Ali, UCD Med center... My insurance, WHA pays for 100% after my $2500 deductible + hospital fee. it looks to me like UCD is picking up speed doing sleeves! I am so glad! When I was getting ready to have mine done, none of the nurses even knew that the Docs did the sleeve at all, many had had RNY, and loved Dr Ali and the whole staff. I was the only sleeve patient I met the whole process, although I was told that other sleeves had been done at the center. I was told that they(the sleeve) were on hold for a long while because of insurance regulations in California. I was told that many insurance companies did not cover the sleeve in California, but that is changing. There are "fellows" on staff that had assisted with sleeve surgery out of state for a few years though. I would not hesitate getting surgery there, LOTS of experience with Lap, robotics and RNY. I love teaching/research centers too. Dr. Pierce recommended I consider getting the sleeve, even though he was not performing it at the time, so Dr Ali agreed to do it for me.
  24. Maybe mash with mayo and a touch of pickle relish for a refreshing 'faux tuna' afternoon treat?
