Does anyone else not take calcium citrate?
feedyoureye replied to groovearmada's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Dont take it with vitamins that contain iron either... I was reading something on here the other day that said you should actually take at least 1700mgs of calcium citrate to start to reduce bone loss.... expensive! The Bariatric advantage losenges are the cheapest ones I found ( in the giant bottle) Each chewable is 500 mgs... comes in 4 different flavors... -
Advice Needed & Welcomed
feedyoureye replied to kelsey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went in to explore weight loss surgery, I was thinking RNY. I had looked into it a bit, and knew it seemed preferable to the band. When I went in for my Surgeon visit, he said he could recommend the sleeve or the RNY. What? So I went home, luckily found this site, and read and read and read. I was sooo happy that the Doc mentioned the sleeve, and I had a chance to get it done. Once I looked into the details, the sleeve just seemed miles ahead of the RNY (for me anyway). My stomach might have been healthy, but it was also killing me! It seems more natural than the RNY to me... the bypass part and the no pylorus just seemed creepy to me. food passes through and out of my stomach just like before, except I can't fit as much in. Its that simple. I don't miss it a bit. In fact, I feel so fortunate! Keep reading here, there are lots of posts discussing RNY vs Sleeve.... -
I was thinking each of them would have a single thread together in a folder... I guess there would be about a million of them....

lil'miss, would it be a good idea to have a pinned folder somewhere here where peeps could post their support goupe meeting info? Maybe we even already have one and I didn't notice....?

Hungry, or not...after surgery
feedyoureye replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no physical possible way to eat a whole chicken after surgery. You will eat your protein, like around 2-5 ozs depending on how far out you are from surgery, and you will be stuffed. We eat little bites, chew well, then swallow. Some even put the fork down between bites just to let the food settle in before eating the next bite. It may sound crazy and impossible now, but believe me, it is VERY possible after surgery... in fact if you don't do this, it will hurt very bad. I am satisfied with so much less food than I ever was in the past. If you are worried that your eyes will still want to see that big old chicken and salad on the plate, use a small plate and measure and weight your food to make sure its not more than you can fit into your sleeve. I even end up leaving food on my little plate because Im just too full to finish. Its a learning experience, but the sleeve makes it much easier to learn the new habits than it has ever been, -

Day 27: The more things change
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Computers and ex husbands. Good luck with that. I am addicted to my computer, and maybe just a little to my ex husband as well. I don't want ether one of them to die... but I think it would be harder if my computer were to "go" of the two. I feel kind of evil thinking that.... -
Any Easter Bunnies Cheating?
feedyoureye replied to PrincessFluffy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some little chocolate eggs my mom brought to dinner. 2 of them, and I have two more plus a cadburry egg in my junk food drawer. I may eat them, or give them to my hubby. I did not feel like they were CRACK, like I used to... just a nice flavor... I didn't feel desperate to have more right after. I went to dinner at Sizzler... I don't eat meat, so I had the salad bar... some cottage cheese, fresh pineapple, a few pieces of spinich with chopped egg and the BIG indulgence, blue cheese dressing. I have to say I could hardly make a dent in it... I watched my family eat what appeared to be gallon plates of food piles.... like I used to.... How in the heck did I do that before? For desert, I had three broken pieces of oreo cookies from the ice cream sundae fixings table.... that was it. I must say I felt a little green afterwards... I think it might have been the salad dressing... or maybe the chocolate eggs... but I got away pretty well all in all....gained .8 lb... prob from the salt. -
Day 26: Easter Squirrels.
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Years ago I belonged to an OLD (Im talking 1910's) health club with a giant indoor pool. It was ratty. It had cool murals on the walls of swimmers, it was....with hesitation.... clean. Well, at least the water was. The walls and floor... lets just say it was OLD. I loved it. And I'm not sure I ever saw anybody else in the pool for months. I actually got pretty fit walking in that pool. Then using the sauna. The only problem with that pool being empty all the time was... the gym went under. No clients except me apparently. Boohoo... LOVED that pool! -

So sorry you are feeling down and out! Lots of good advice here, I think drink and get in protein and vitamins however you can is great, one thing that might be an issue... hormones gone crazy. I have a bit of this, and I have been in menopause for a year! I would think drink drink drink... even if you think of it as one hour at a time... and see if after getting in enough liquids for a day or two, if it makes a difference. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Your slower loss may not have had anything to do with the bunny! You sound like you are doing just fine. Moderation in action. -
Any Easter Bunnies Cheating?
feedyoureye replied to PrincessFluffy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been known to enjoy a sweet now and again. Usually a chocolate. I don't seem to have the inability to stop after one that I used to have. (I am saying a prayer to the great chocolate god right now) If I can keep that current moderation ability in place, chocolate and I will get along just fine. If not... it will have to be D-I-V-O-R-C-E. For now... if mom gives me a chocolate egg... I might just have to eat it (over a week or two). I know the sleeve is working... about three weeks ago I picked up a little reeses caramel cup at an art show opening... I took a bite, put the rest in my purse, and threw it away two weeks later. Believe me, if it had been before the surgery... It could have been in there 6 months, and I would have eaten it anyway! -

Liquid Protein 15g in 2 tablespoons
feedyoureye replied to groovearmada's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Collagen does not contain all of the amino acids your body needs, so your body can not use it very well. One of the first things you need to watch for in choosing protein is the amino acid content. The collagen proteins always look like such a good choice at first because you don't need to drink much for large protein grams... but its not a very good choice in the end. I believe it is made from animal skins. -
Able to drink too much too soon??
feedyoureye replied to BeachWithMyBabies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GIRLFRIEND! You are doing great! I could drink the same as you at your stage too. I worried about restriction too... Others on here told me that when you start eating dense proteins then it will be VERY clear that you have the restriction you paid for. When I got there I had good restriction. 2 1/2 ozs of dense protein, and BAM...full. As I can eat a little more, I add my lovely veggies. (at last!) You and I had the same surgeon... he uses a 36 bougie a little loose, then stitched. (Others on here got a 32.. not a lot smaller, but a little smaller for sure). He also leaves the pyloric end a little bit wider than some. This may accommodate more liquid, and liquids do leave the stomach pretty fast. Faster than solids. You will be fine. Get in your good quality proteins, and liquids, and keep moving up the food scale. When you get to mush and beyond, you will feel the power of the tummy! And if you haven't yet, join our Sac Sleeve support group! -
Thanks Pasquini, very interesting! Too bad they don't include the sleeve, but info is still relevant to us all. Heads up to you peeps who don't want to take your Vitamins or protein! This will scare the $hit out of ya! And addresses Bone and hair loss.....how to chose your Protein... does Not promote low Carbs diet... In fact mentions how getting in 100gms a day of high grade carbs can benefit nitrogen, or amino acid quality....(I think thats what it was saying!) Wrap your heads around it, you will find something in it that will help you!

I just went in and averaged my weight loss weekly... and I have averaged 2.5 lbs a week. You have to understand there was an 11 pound loss week, and a 1/2 pound gain week in there... and lots of .6 pound loss weeks...my Nut told me to expect to lose 10 pounds a month, and here I am, right on her target!. That is with stalls and all figured in, so keep up your chins newbies! The weight will come off... and all the worrying and buyers remorse will not make your life funner or the weight come off faster! Sure I would love to lose all (or even half) of the extra weight in a week... but unless I lose a leg or two, that ain't going to happen. Besides we would end up looking like a deflated balloon overnight! I've got some loose skin showing up as we speak... it needs time to shrink a little. (please pleeasse please shrink!).. now I'm pleading and begging my skin! I'm not nuts....
