You have to understand that the vast majority of the people on here are very PRO sleeve. The people here have had mostly great experiences, and have strong feelings about wanting the sleeve over RNY or the Band. If you read on, you will see story after story from people whos lives have been changed by getting the sleeve. Its true that some of the stats say the RNY has a better loss rate, but it also comes at a big cost in other ways.... Vitamin and Protein deficiencies, the pouch stretching, dumping, stoma problems and the list goes on. The sleeve leaves the digestion process in a more natural state. Research RNY vs Sleeve here, there are many many posts on that question alone... People here also know the odds of losing weight from dieting alone and keeping it off are very small.... but add the sleeve, and many here who need to lose as much as you, are doing so very well. Read on....

How I'm Doing At 3 Months
feedyoureye replied to KabinKitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Kitty, I was sleeved about two weeks before you, and have lost 42 pounds from surgery, and 10 before that. I also have more to lose, so it looks like you are doing really well to me! I cant wait to get below 200 and on down to 180. You look fantastic in your pic. I still have some appetite... I get to starving about every 2-3 hours, eat a few bites and am fine. I eat around 800 cals a day, but eat more carbs than some here, 50-80.... I am a vegetarian, and everything has carbs except the protein drinks! Best of luck to you in getting where you want. -
This cant be a stall......
feedyoureye replied to Hip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until you lose the weight, this is a diet....and exercise. The sleeve just makes it easier to keep the numbers down. It is still work... and more work for some than others. The weight you lost with the sleeve prob did put you in a place where it is harder to lose now... I still think you are in a stall now... its right when I was in a stall....and others.... I think crack down a bit, don't except less for yourself right now when you want to lose more... eat a little more Protein, a little less carbs, and exercise a little bit more... thats not such a bad thing is it? Resistance is futile! Just see what you can do for yourself... at maintenance, hopefully you can be a little bit more loose with your plan. Talk to your doc when you get a chance. -
WEAK AS WATER!!!! =(
feedyoureye replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girlfriend! Chill out and be a little bit kind to yourself please! You know that 1100 cals are not that bad... and when you are at maintenance you will be eating that or more. Some eat that before maintenance and lose. One mcdonalds triple thick shake is 1100. If you are anything like me, you could down one of those before surgery and go on to eat your regular meals as well. I know we get upset with lapses, but this is a diet during the losing phase. Diets are hard and cant last forever without a break now and then. You have the sleeve, and your BIG SLIP UP was only 300 calories. (1100 calories -800=). Get in your water, plan better for your difficult times, bring a protein snack(cheese or something) with you... and drink your water. I plan on sweet snacks too... sometimes a little bite of brownie can be planned in. Just make sure you eat protein with it so you don't get a carb lashback. Write it down, don't hide it. You can do it! You have the sleeve to help you keep those numbers down where you need them! Keep up the good work that you do most of the time. -

19 DAYS POST OP AND GAINING WEIGHT
feedyoureye replied to babybig's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The cottage cheese is Protein, and the mac and cheese is not, that is one of the reasons the mac goes down so easy. Its a slider food. Keep in mind its one of those foods that you can eat without really getting in your protein or feeling full. Perhaps mix some cottage cheese into your mac and cheese to boost the protein... or mix in unflavored Protein powder... this will help you over all. -
How long did your 3week stall last?
feedyoureye replied to Lanette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The body changes are amazing... it comes off one place then off another, the butt is gone and the calfs are the same, the stomach takes a hike and the wrists measure the same, but looks smaller and the bracelet falls off. Its really something else. Sit back and marvel. Take some pictures of your self if you haven't already. Measure! -
I don't get the "don't eat bread"
feedyoureye replied to tntransplant06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried my first bread at about 6 weeks out... no problem. I just had a veggie sausage on a whole wheat bun... ate about half of the bun... no problem. I don't do this every day, but do sometimes and try to eat whole grains. Protein first.... -
How long did your 3week stall last?
feedyoureye replied to Lanette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink your water, eat your protein. Move. The stall will end in its own time. Stalls ARE normal. Almost everyone has many stalls over the course of their losing phase. Reaching goal will be one BIG stall if your lucky. Follow the rules your Doc gave you.... 99% of the time these will work in the long run. It is as frustrating as hell when they happen... take a breath... throw the scales away if you cant take "it". Use measurements as your standard instead of the scales. Search and read here... you will see story after story about stalls... and ALL of the people who have been doing this for over a couple of months can say that the stall passed. It may not be anything you are doing! Honest! My longest stall lasted almost 4 weeks and showed up at week two. Looking back I did actually lose two pounds over that time. My weight was up and down and staying the same for 4 weeks. I was doing everything right. Then it started coming off again. -

My "3 week stall" lasted an evil 4 weeks!!
feedyoureye replied to Kelly'sChipper's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At two weeks out I started an up-down-up-same etc, etc... for 4 weeks. I actually lost two pounds in 4 weeks starting at week two. I say just do what your doc says. drink your water, exercise, protein first..... The stalls come for many reasons.... and they leave for apparently no good reason as well. just follow the plan and it will happen. -
Everyone seems to weigh so often.
feedyoureye replied to Griselda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I weigh every morning. I am training myself to not feel so pushed around by the numbers. I also measure so there is another way to tell how my body is changing... as well as how my clothing fits. -
Day 36: Size eighteen.

Don't forget thrift stores.... buy'em, wear'em and donate them back. I have found some fantastic pants and tops also for a song. Shop at thrift stores in or near better neighborhoods for the best merchandise. I am in a 16 from a 22 as well.... It feels like heaven. Last time I was a 16 I thought I was too fat... HA! Not anymore.. I'm working it! (Even if I don't have a butt anymore) -

The body is a funny thing. I would use fitday or something like that, it even figures out how much sodium you are eating! It really helps me to keep on top of things. 60 oz of water is not to bad, but a little more is probably better, I am trying to up my water as well... summer is here in California! It was warm today. Good luck, Im sure things will get back on track for you soon. I gained 2 1/2 pounds two days ago, and most of it was off today. -
Please all that can, answer this question for me
feedyoureye replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a little bit the first day in the hospital, and the first day home I ate something really bitter (meds) that made me feel like puking, but I did not ever throw up. Really not that bad at all... after three days, I was up and around. -

As the fat melts away, its REALLY nice to have some muscles there waiting for you underneath! Exercise, it is one of the traits of those that keep the weight off best.... -
Never heard of it as a substantial risk before....unless you have some predisposition to it for some reason?

My Pants Fell Off Today
feedyoureye replied to Cinderella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fantastic! Sounds like you have the right spirit to succeed. I am lucky enough to get to go to a belly dance class twice a week... I love it so much! Keep up the good work! -
I ate a lot today!
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds yummy. I make ravioli using wonton wrappers...I make ricotta or some such filling, and seal between two thin wonton skins, boil for about 3 or 4 minutes, sauce up... cheese up... eat up! 2 or three are usually enough. I make several small dishes, and eat the next few days. -
This whole site is crammed with amazing stories. It may seem too big to even dive into, but you really should, its worth it. Spend some late nights on the computer looking through parts. I hit the "view new content" upper right to see whats new... then go down the list and peek into where ever looks interesting to you. The vast majority of people here love their sleeve even if some of them had difficult patches here and there. I have had NO really bad patches to speak of ....a few stalls, sore stomach, crapy taisting meds...., I love my sleeve, and if I don't lose another pound, it has all been worth it. I am still learning... at 15 weeks out.... and about half of my weight lost. I still read this forum every day, and post and make the most of it that I can. ...read on!

Day 35: Life of Sleevey
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hallelujah sista. When i'm am bouncing around in my belly dance class, for the first time in my three years attending, I don't think about myself as "FAT". Now don't get me wrong, i am still over 200 lbs, and the others are pretty well living in athletes or dancers bodies, but I don't feel like I am TOO FAT. And I think this is not as much my size as the feeling like its not permanent or really me somehow. I'm on the move and so is my fat. We look at mirrors in that class... and I can see myself along with everyone else. Im OK. Hurray! IN my Tango class, its the same, I am the largest person in the class, but I still feel kinda hot. I am confident I guess, that my fatness is not the ultimate definer of me. And the food thing. I feel like I must have opened some Genies bottle or something... When is it that 4 corn chips are enough? When you live in the world the Genie answered your wish in. It is such a relief. I am so happy you have found this too. I can relate. -
I'm just fine with it too.
