How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cathy, Im going to have to look it up... I don't eat meat, but for beans and such Im sure it would work a treat! I do use my crock pot for lots of things.... and have a rice steamer as well that is awesome (I also make irish oats and other grains in it...) Here is a link any of you doing 5:2 might want to read..... about weight gain at 2 years..... sound like us! https://forum.fastday.com/benefits-side-effects-f28/does-prolonged-fasting-change-us-in-ways-that-lead-to-regain-t13735.html -

I would like to know too.... -
Make your plan NOW. Fill out your MFP for tomorrow, and get your lunch and breakfast ready so its easy to grab. Take a snack or two to work with you that will not throw off your numbers. Get through one day, and the next will be a little easier.... best of luck.

I actually asked myself.. is this really worth it?

Such a relavint topic CGJane. I just realized I was 4 years out three days ago. HURRAY! I also am finding that if I exactly copy the way I re-lost 22 pounds a little over a year ago... (which I am doing at this time trying to get off an 8 pound regain) I am not losing weight. . I may need to do it a little longer to see some downward movement, or I may need to eat less cals, and/or less carbs or exercise more than before. Too bad, so sad! It is what it is though, and all I have to do is ask myself "do i want to go back to mindless eating and the consequences?" NO. Im just not sure yet how I need to reinvent my behavior to get down off those 8 extra pounds! I have always wanted to only make changes that I think I can live with. We are a brave lot ladys and gents! ...Going into this dark night! I may need to go from the 5:2 to the 4:3...... (no happy face here) -

Fasted yesterday which is good. I also found my lost fitbit (in the couch!) and have been wearing it to get another tool back on track. It feels really dofferent wearing it than not.... I actually feel my movement more with the myfitnesspal hookup and such in place. As far as loss goes... the same pound has been on and off twice so far.... hopefully it will stay off this time and get a couple of more friends to join it!

Nice to see you here Florinda, the party sounded great. Glad you had a good time. I also gained my one pound lost in the last 2 weeks.... fasted today again, hope it comes back off! Going to the docs to check my cholesterol in a couple of weeks... was hoping to get a few pounds off like she asked me to do... at this rate... good luck! Still working on it though. -

Glad you dropped in... and so happy you love your job... 2 hour commute is hard... Personal trainer Jeff Daubs says even drivers can get exercise on the road— working the core is a good area to focus on while you’re stuck in traffic or sitting at a light. "Place your hands against the roof or your car, push up with your arms and squeeze your abs at the same time," he says. "Hold for 10 seconds and release. Repeat as many times as possible. The dual action of pressing up with the arms and shoulders and squeezing the core creates a static hold that serves to strengthen the arms, shoulders, back, and core all at the same time." He suggests lifting one or both legs off the floor to engage your core even more. Another good exercise for drivers is an arm strengthener, says Daubs. "Open your driver-side window and, assuming there is no passenger in the seat next to you, straighten both arms to the side," he says. "With your left palm up and your right palm down, start to switch your palms from up to down. Your arms are straight out to the side, left palm up right palm down and switch, left palm down right palm up. Do this for sets of 50—it feels easy at first but after 40 or so reps you will start to feel it. Rest for 10 seconds and repeat. Just the action of holding your arms out becomes a challenge and the toning benefits of holding that position and switching the hands is undeniable. This is a favorite move of Tyra Banks as it a proven overall toner and shaper for both the arms and shoulders." http://www.howcast.com/videos/225976-How-to-Tone-Your-Body-during-Your-Commute -

Coops! Sounds like my last year.... sorry... this is not easy to go through, but happy to hear you have close family that is there for you. Take care! My mom stopped eating much for a couple of years before she passed on...lost around 35 pounds and at the end she really hated eating at all. All she wanted were chocolates ... who can blame her! But not very nutritious... and acording to the 5:2 studies, sugar makes rats with dimentia decline twice as fast. (My mom had dimentia too) What can you really do but love them and hold their hands during this time. I just tried to make a connection every day with her... which was really lovely. I brought her art supplies to use, which she did, and brushed her hair.... used lotion on her hands and face. Sorry Coops, I know its a hard part of life. -
fasted yesterday, and started the day up a little... this morning stayed the same. I know I had too many carbs and salt yesterday, so still calling it good... but going pretty slow this time around... I hope the 5:2 kicks in at sometime soon! I need to get in more raw and lower carbs... I think that is the ticket. I just ordered some high protein low carb items on netritioncom today to stock up the pantry.... some black bean pasta, some chicken NOT! strips, both pretty high protein and tasty as well as some other stuff. Love that place! http://www26.netrition.com/explore_asian_organic_black_bean_spaghetti.html 25 gms protein... and http://www26.netrition.com/dd_chicken_not.html 25 gms protein

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, many people GAIN weight the first week. So you are ahead of the game. I came home 10 pounds heavier than when I went in.... its the IV. I suggest you let your body do its "thang" and cut the worry about the numbers at this point. There will be stalls, there will be slow downs.... just follow your plan and it will end up in the right place in the end. -

I don't want to be a downer, but I couldn't lose 10-15 pounds a month during my first 6 months after surgery... I would however get back on track, and lose as fast or slow as you do... and keep on it- forever. You still have your "tool" eat protein first, dont drink with meals, keep track of weight and calories... and add some exercise. I have found 5:2 very helpful for re-losing and maintaining as well. I know you can do it, just no need to rush... or set yoursef up for a fall, you are here for the long run. -
Slow weight loss - feeling very low
feedyoureye replied to slimgal2015's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first year is the honeymoon. It is easiest to lose it then. Do not lose your chance to get the most out of the first year... HOWEVER, with ditermination, and finding out what works for you, you can lose more later. The key is maintaining consciousness about what you are putting in your body, and not quiting! EVER! Statistics show many gain weight in the 3rd year. Hunger may return if it hasn't already, and you can just eat more at a sitting. So you have to really work on a plan you can stick too, and making good habits with eating and moving. Find things you like that work for you. I still slip up, but getting back on plan the sooner the better keeps me pretty close to goal. -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the idea behind the 5:2 is keeping eating as normal as possible... that makes it easier to stick with. A protein shake now and then, no problem, but try to make it NOT look like a diet, because as we all know, diets dont work very well... they are just to hard to stick too! Do watch the 5:2 documentary.... it explanes a lot... and the fast diet web site has lots of good ideas for food plans as well. -

So the fashion show is off for me. I went to the fitting, pulled a bunch of cloths, some of which I really liked, then the person in charge said that the models had to pay for everything! Then we could take them back later if we wanted to. Sorry Charley.... thats a deal breaker for me... putting a $300-400 hole in my bank account for a couple of weeks is a no-go. I already took a half day offof work, and would have missed a pre paid dance class the night of the event... I did buy one of the skirts I had pulled, a black and gray pencil skirt on sale for 28$. A bit of a relief to walk away from the event... oh well! Even though I said I didnt want to be on camera at the fitting, I ended up getting asked a question on air. I get some air time around the arts in this town, and really don't want to be defined by weight loss surgery here...(looking hot is OK though!!! ) Finally down a pound.... cut the carbs and upped the protein, and that worked better for me (of course it would....) Good job all!
