    Fly Or Drive

My experience was I was able to drive 20 minutes to the store 3 dpo but I was really really tired. My reaction time was really slow and what saved me is that I was on a country road rather than up in DC where I live. It's now 5 dpo and I can drive longer distances but it really tires me. I'm still on medication for pain but only take it 2x a day. I think you could, but it would be very risky. Is it possible for him to get his license before your surgery date? Even a permit would allow him to drive as long as a licensed driver was in the car with him.

    Worried

I'm 5 dpo and I'm still having some gas, just not as much. I have the most when I'm drinking and right after I finish. But my gas pains were not as bad as some of the others I read about. I felt most of it in my chest but didn't get the refered pain to my shoulders.

Help For The Dreaded Facial Hair?

Hey ladies. I recently discovered threading. The lady I go to does an awesome job and it lasts around 4 weeks. I do touch ups but that's just the neurotic part of me from having the hair growth for so long. Maybe that would help? Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Worried

Yes, heating pad was a lifesaver in the hospital! I second the gas x strips and walking. I have to walk when I drink anything to help it go down smoother.

    Pre Op Diet Confusion!

Ok that's understandable.I hope you find the best way for you to get through. I read in the board that it doesn't take long for the liver to shrink, a week give or take. I also want to add this: the closer to all liquid you can stay the better. I'm realizing now that it really preps you for after surgery when you really CANNOT eat anything other than liquids Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. I have a gene for familial adenomatous polyposis in my family that causes multiple polyps along the gi tract. The only thing I can suggest is a gene test to rule that out. Sorry about those results. I'm sure you're worried sick. Try not to stress it may just be something they have to keep an eye on and it will go away once you're sleeved Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. Never thought I'd look forward to a popsicle as much as I do right now. SMH

  13. LOL yea you're right and I would not get any sleep!! I'll keep focusing on sipping and worry about quantity later.

Day 4: I Think My Reserves Are Depleting

hope2Bfitand40 thanks for the support! I know I'm not the only one but some days it sure feels like it!! How do you measure your sips? do you use a small medicine cup or do you just estimate?

  16. How is everyone managing to get in their fluids? I thought about making a scheudule, but my alarm would be going off every 2 to 3 minutes!

Day 4: I Think My Reserves Are Depleting

Thanks LMD! I started myself on prilosec and it has helped. Maybe I need to increase the dose to twice a day until I can get in to see my doctor. How did you get your protein in your first couple of weeks? I think I may need to make myself a schedule. I'm trying to stick to the not drinking while "eating" but i'm just stressed about getting fluids in, i drink whatever I can. I really appreciate help from the vets! I thought I'd read everything and was totally prepared, but nothing prepares you for it completely LOL!
  18. Oh I'm sorry, I thought you said we had the same surgery date. No biggie. I'm not familiar with Providence but as long as you have faith in your surgeon you should do well!!

    Pre Op Diet Confusion!

You sound like me! I was going crazy over my Pre op. This is what I did. I maintained cals no more than 800/day. I kept carbs and sodium as low as possible. You still need carbs to an extent so if i had an high carb day, it was not over 30. When I tried medifast, i really like the 5 and 1 where you have 5 replacements then a lean and green. I'll admit I cheated on my all liquid part and threw in the lean and green when i was about to loose my mind. I did this up until 3 days before then I went all liquid. I still managed to loose 10 and the surgeon didn't say anything about my liver being too big. Other than that I used EAS carbadvantage shakes, propel Water and tried to drink at least 12 cups a day. Did they give you a specific amount to lose?
  20. That's awesome! Where were you sleeved and how are you doing?

    Nsv, Pcos Style Haha

This must be a common phenomena because I got mine 2 days after surgery!
  22. I agree with mnbsleeve, it was all about quantity for me, but my main culprits were starches! Fries, fries, and more fries with a side of potatoes and bread.
  23. This is something my constant churning mind thought of last night. Do you perform the Heimlich the same way on a sleeved person as on a person with a normal sized stomach? I haven't done any official research on it just wondering if anyone had heard anything related to that. Thanks!

    Day 3

Soooooo it's day 3. It's also the last weekday of my spring break and I've done absolutely NOTHING LOL. Back to the surgery. I'm officially post-op. The surgery went very well. Passed the leak test, started my liquids, discharged yesterday. I thought I was prepared for it all. I've had a c section before, I read the forums, blogs, but nothing prepares you for this. The pain is different. My pain was constant. Its not just the incisional pain, its the gas and acid! It was very hard for me to walk my first day. I was on a dilaudid PCA and I would fall asleep at the drop of a hat, but I tried anyway. The walking does help. Walk, walk, walk! I overpacked. I couldn't even tell you everything that was in my bag, but I can tell you what I would not have made it without: 1. My heating pad 2. Gax-x strips 3. phone 4. tampons 5. wipes for the ladyparts 6. small pillow to splint your stomach I'm trying to get all of my fluids in. It's a full time job I tell ya. I try to remind myself to sip and Keep a bottle of something close to me at all times. Slowly but surely i'm getting it in. Whelp, it's time for the good ol' pain meds again, so I will keep you guys posted on my progress!
