  1. Make that 117.2 pounds in just over 9 months - LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. i would be sure not to eat or drink anything the morning of the actual weigh in and wear your lightest clothes/no shoes or jewelery etc - go to the bathroom right beforehand. I would do all liquid between now and weigh in. I might even do a laxative the night before but have never tried it so don't go on my word - i just hear people use it to lose weight quick. I would not do a bunch of exercise if you haven't been up until now as i hear when people first start exercising their muscles retain water or something - possibly nonsense but i wouldn't risk it if it were me - the surgery's too important.

Too Tight, Ruby, And Not Loosing Weight.

honestly i watch nothing but calories (not fat, carbs, sugar, sodium, or even exercise). It's all calories in calories out for me and that is what works for me. My surgeon has me on 800 per day. I stick to that about 85% of the time - with some days less some days more. i've lost 115 in 9 months. Have you examined just plain old calories each day? May be worth a discussion with surgeon/nutritionist. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!
  4. Just a quick note to share my excitement at hitting another mini-milestone. I can't believe I'm even writing this post!!! I just want to give hope to the newbys and people undecided about banding - you can be successful and lose a bunch of weight rather quickly like with gastric if you focus on what you're doing. I'm by no means perfect and I have been very bad about exercise - but I do stick to my 800 calories per day pretty religiously. I love you all for being there for me - you have no idea what your kind words, information and support have meant to me over the last year. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!!!
  5. loved it - it was surprisingly positive on lap band in general and she didn't sugarcoat it - they called it a TOOL not a magic bullet which i liked!

How Quickly Can I Expect To Lose The Weight?

I'm 9 months out and and 114 down but from what i hear that is probably too quick. I'm definitely slowing at this point - but still losing. I have not exercised much at all this entire time and need to step it up to lose these last 20-30 pounds to then maintain at goal. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!

    why no coffein ?

i drink several regular (black) coffees a day. I don't think my surgeon or nutritionist say no caffeine....

I Never Cheat And I Cheated Today :-/

i always eat a small popcorn with layered butter at the movies - i average 1-2 movies per month - i sometimes can eat the whole bag sometimes only about half. It's my big cheat/splurge. I don't think twice about it - it may have barely slowed my weight loss but i doubt it and i'm happy with the pace i'm losing. Shaking up the metabolism is a good thing - i've learned that through this process.

26 Pounds To My Goal Weight!

i'm glad you posted this - i'm about 30 pounds from goal and wondered how maintenance would work - but i never thought i'd get fluid removed - that idea scares me - was just thinking i'd drink an extra couple protein shakes per day or something to maintain....

    Bad Weekend Oh My

saw hunger games too and had a small popcorn with layered butter and a box of milk duds - felt terrible (Physically not mentally) - i always cheat when i go to the movies it hasn't hurt my weight loss since its so infrequent!
  13. at your point in the journey i had no restriction so no problems eating anything - but you might as well play it safe with soft food
  14. i haven't always been perfect with getting all my protein in - we're supposed to shoot for around 60 i think and i maybe get in 45-50 most days. My blood work always comes back ok and no hair falling out or anything (i've heard that on here when people aren't getting enough protein) but i definitely need to watch my protein better!!!!

    Calorie Intake?

my surgeon said 800 calories per day and i stick to that 90% of the time and i continue to lose weight daily/weekly.

    Hello!!!!

Hi there Byrd - July 5 here - doing great - got good restriction about 2-2 1/2 months ago and been going strong - down over 110 and loving life - need to step up exercise though....

    Rapid Weight Loss

worth a call to your dr's office to tell them about the one week loss and to clarify the post-op diet - i agree that the clears should only be a few days and then it's full liquids for a week or two after that but again clarify with dr.
  18. I'm just throwing this out there - you CAN lose as much on lap as gastric if you put your mind to it. There are people on here that have lost 175-200+ pounds. I'm down more than 110 in less than 9 months - these results are more in line with gastric. Again it's all about putting the work in - and i'm sure there's more work with band but as far as pure weight loss bandsters can give gastrics a run for their money!
  19. THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT AND KIND WORDS!!!! A typical day of eating for me is: Breakfast - Protein shake - AES 110 calories 17 g protein (too tight for food in morning) Around 11 - 50 calorie string cheese around 1-2 = 60 calories light yogurt Around 4 = Protein Shake 110 calories around 6-7 dinner - varies - usually a lien cuisine = 270-350 calories (sometimes it's food from restaurant - 1 slice pizza, or 1/2 a dinner salad, or a couple triangles of cheese quesadilla - just depends - calories are about the same) snack - a couple Cookies or some butter microwave popcorn or chips (this is my treat for the day - usually nothing healthy but limited in portion size so not bad) = 150-200 calories
  20. Not sure what fleuro (sp?) costs but i believe that is the test you want to see if the band placement/fill/etc. is right - insist on it if you can pay for it - it would be worth piece of mind. I have a 14 cc realize band and am at 9.00 ccs so your post has defintely got my attention - keep us updated!!!
  21. my surgeon tried to steer me toward gastric with my 47 BMI- but i stuck to my guns and insisted on the band and he has been thrilled with my success. caribear is right - listen to your surgeon but in the end make up your own mind....
