if you can bring a cooler - pack some low cal yogurts, light string cheese and other low cal snacks to have on hand! Not sure to tell you what to do about meals if you won't have access to microwave. -
uhm.. yeah that's definitely inspiration - you look fantastic!

Is This Normal? Is Anyone Experiencing Or Experienced These Feeling 2 Weeks Before Surgery?!
Allison0927 replied to beane007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my fears before surgery were literally just dying on the table because something went wrong. i never thought about not having my favorite foods etc. because that was exactly the reason i was getting the surgery - to stop myself from having all the bad yummy foods - or stop myself from having much of them. You may find like i did that you can eat whatever you want for several months after surgery (meaning after the healing phase) because if you are like me you won't get restriction until multiple fills later. Now i am really tight on restriction - but i still have a few bites of the bad foods all the time - but i physically cannot eat more. This was exactly the reason i got the surgery. any time i am sad about missing out on the pig outs or the big dinners etc. i just look in the mirror - i've lost 124+ pounds in less than 11 months and you can bet my life has done a 180. Not bragging here but literally every single day one or multiple people are falling all over themselves to compliment me and tell me how great i look. that rush from the constant positive attention truly outweighs my sadness at loss of food (or loss of the way i used to eat). I'm betting you will feel the same way a year from now. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!! -

10 Month Bandiversary Today 122.6 Pounds Down!!!!
Allison0927 replied to Allison0927's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi everyone - thanks for all the well wishes!!! A few asked for my tips - so here they are: I did not get restriction for the first 4.5 months and 4 or 5 fills - that was just "diet" time and I steadily lost - people need to treat the time before restriction as any other diet that we've all been on (like weight watchers etc.) I stick to the 800 calories per day recommended by my surgeon about 80-90% of the time - but i have "cheat" days about 1x per week or 10 days where i eat whatever i want (quantity still small - i have restriction now) but it may be junk/m&Ms etc. The rest of the time i eat healthy. I think going up in calories once in a while "shakes up" the metabolism a little - you will see a gain (i weigh every day) after doing it but then the scale always starts moving back down once you go back to normal eating I tell anyone who asks about the band surgery - keeps me accountable as i do not want to gain with everyone's eyes on me - that works for me - may not work for everyone I've hardly exercised but i do go out of my way to walk longer, go up stairs instead of elevator, etc. in day to day life - it takes a conscious effort - i need to start doing regular exercise that is for sure - I have 18 left to lose to "goal" of 135 - and i'm sure this will be the hardest to lose. -
Very interesting - and very clearly jealousy. Don't be too hard on her though - her comment aside - it came from a sad/dark/bitter place and it's no fun to feel that way. I remember over the years being jealous of a few girls that lost a lot of weight - but i was also genuinely happy for them at the same time and would have never, ever said what your SIL said. Nowadays when my friends say anything at all to me (and i know they love me and are just "keeping it real") about being the skinny b***h etc. I know it's ok - that i went through that feeling too and I forgive them for being jealous because i do know they deeply care about me - we've all been through too much together. One thing though that I am guilty of is not feeling a bit sorry for others who are jealous because unless their insurance will not cover the procedure - which is possible in some cases - the only thing holding them back from doing the surgery like i did is their fear of it - and i bit the bullet and did it - the greatest risks often yield the greatest rewards - so, in short, most of the time, being the "skinny b***h" like me (or like i will be in 18 pounds to goal - ha!) is in their own hands and it's their "fault" if they don't pursue it like i did.

It Lurks Where You Least Expect It
Allison0927 replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
excellent article - a great read and so, so true. I started thin, got obese for 20 years, and am back to being thin. I am a highly educated professional and because i was/is so good at my job (and maybe because i work with extraordinary people) i do not believe i have suffered discrimination at my job. But the rest of the world is a different story and being on both sides of the equation i feel especially qualified to speak about the true discrimination that lingers. You just did it for me though ha! Great article. -

Thanks Michele - i would but i'm completely computer illiterate and barely learned how to have a profile pic!!! LOL I think they are putting my before and after pic on my surgeon's website soon and then i can at least provide a link to that for some "inspiration" on the site for the newbys. -
I love it Jean - those are classics!!! Yes i get it from my husband - it is to the point when if i have to go to the bathroom at a restaurant (to actually go to the bathroom not puke) i tell him - yes i really have to use the restroom - if i don't he'll assume i went to puke then i'll get his sarcasm or fill in the blank negative about the band. Oh well - small price to pay for looking fabulous LOL!

5'4 Whats Your Goal Weight?
Allison0927 replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5"4 and currently 153 pound size 9 or 10 pants. Goal which surgeon approved is 135. Once I get there I will regroup and decide if maybe want to go 5 or 10 (max) lower. Hubby keeps telling me to stop in3 pounds at 150 but i know myself and recall 130s in high school and i know i looked good at that weight (i am 38). We shall see... -

my EAS Protein shakes are only 110 calories with 17 g of protein - i have at least one per day - some days two. I can't do salad anymore - i am religious about counting every calorie and do stick to the 800 calories around 90% of the time - of course there are those once in a while days where i eat an entire small popcorn with layered butter at the movies but that's for another day LOL

Lots of us drink on weekends just no carbonation I do vodka n crystal light with water n ice. Dunno about the pot but some smoke cigaretts while there are obviously other health dangers dont think it affects band or weight loss.
