  1. Great job on the 40 lbs - glad you said your surgeon wants you at 800 calories per day - mine told me the same but dietician and most on this forum say that we should do 900-1100 per day. Awesome that he said you could eat popcorn and pizza - my two favorite foods - but I'm more than willing to give them up for thinness!!!!

    5 days Postop and STARVING

LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! i just made it a favorite! I'm scheduled for surgery July 5. Good luck on the 15th - the pre-op diet is half over for me and it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Keep up the blog it's great writing!

So far so Good but concerned.........

my surgeon told me he wants me at 800 calories a day - when i told the dietician she said the average long term calorie goal is 1100 per day - I need to check with my surgeon about that - I will on my follow up appointment - i'm being banded july 5. Congrats on your 25 pounds - not sure but from other posts i've read on here people seem to think that if you are under the recommended calories you will hit a plateau and then need to actually eat more calories to start losing again - as counterintuitive as that is. Best to talk to the surgeon or dietician. Good luck !!

    Treating myself

LOL I thought I was going to see you saying you wanted to treat yourself with a dessert!!!! I'm glad to see it was flowers and non-food items. I think that's a GREAT idea - I plan to do a lot of shopping. I have never enjoyed shopping my entire life - because when I was thin up until 2nd year of college I never had any real money - when I got heavy the last 15 years I had plenty of money but no desire to buy "ugly" shapeless clothes in the plus size stores. I'm planning to shop til I drop for the first time in my life (sales and good bargains of course) as the weight drops. Those clothes/shoes will be my "treats" and I'm so looking forward to it!!!!

Where did that 5 pounds go? Second fill!!!!!YES!!!!

WOW great job on the loss so far - i hear you about waiting no matter how long it would take for the dr. to come in for the fill - I would have sat in a dr. office for 24 hours if it meant getting the surgery or the green zone fill lol - keep up the good work and let the hurtful comment roll off your back!

What Pre-Op Diet Are You On?

I started my pre-op diet today (surgery July 5). It's 2 weeks - 3 protein shakes a day, 2 lien cuisines per day (or equivalent - smart ones etc.) and up to 2 cups vegetables per day. It's really not bad compared to what I'm seeing on here... Good luck to us all - would be nice to lose about 7-10 pounds going into the surgery so the pre-op diet will be good for that!

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

I am being banded July 5 and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow! Mine's 3 protein shakes - 2 lien cuisine meals or equivalents, and up to 2 cups vegetables each day for next 14 days. My fridge and freezer are stocked and i got my chewable vitamins to start tomorrow as well (may as well start getting used to the vitamins). I fear losing diet pop - i'm going water or water and crystal light or equivalent from here on out. I'm a huge diet pop drinker - have been for many many years. I'm 37 with a husband and 5 year old son. I was thin and beautiful until college - and i started gaining weight - about 5-10 pound per year since. I'm looking to lose 10 on the pre-op diet and another 130 after that. WE CAN DO IT JULY BANDSTERS UNITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Just wondering if anyone else fears/thinks that drinking large amounts of Water serves to STRETCH the pouch? I'm having surgery July 5 - and have already made peace with swearing off all carbonated drinks permanently - the goal being to keep the pouch as small as possible - but won't drinking a ton of water (fast or slow) do the same thing - enlarge the pouch? Not sure if water always slips through the ring to the large stomach or if some sits in pouch and can accumulate to stretch it - I'm assuming not - since liquids are supposed to go through - but if that is the case - and it's food sitting in the pouch that signals fullness - then how is drinking a bunch of water supposed to make one feel full (if it's all down in the large stomach?)
  15. great post - i soaked up every word - july 5 here I come!!!

    Swimming

i have the same question - i'm being banded july 5 and practically live in my backyard pool with my 5 year old son - hope we can get in the pool soon after!! would settle for 2 weeks post surgery max!
  17. Allison0927

    Cocktailing

clear liquor with calorie free and carbonation free mixer - remember carbonation - even zero calories carbonation - stretches the pouch defeating the purpose of the surgery - so i like your crystal light idea - that's what i plan to do (or get absolute with water and a lemon or lime and squeeze the lemon/lime into it)

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

I'm being banded July 5 too!!!!! I'm not nervous - but I think about it all the time (and giving up diet pop I think will be the hardest thing)! Good luck to all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I'll be banded July 5. I already "warned" my surgeon that even if I'm losing if I'm super hungry all the time I'm still gonna want a fill and he said he understood and woudn't keep me from a fill under those circumstances.

    Let's be realistic, folks~

I like it - good information and good post. I actually really hope you're right that the ones complaining on this site about not losing are truly breaking the rules - I want that to be true since I want the opposite to be true as well (if I follow all the rules to a T I will definitely lose weight on the band).
