i never thought i would say this, but i dont know what to eat!
texashopeful replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to have some of those recipies as well. Everything I have tried to add in has made me hurt. I have NO appatite(sorry about spelling)! I don't want to eat. I too am so sick of lunch meat, tuna, eggs, chicken salad, etc. I have tried meatloaf which was good, and fish (not a huge fan of that anyway). I had a grilled chicken drumstick from KFC without skin, and that was GREAT! How did you figure out how to exclude more carbs, etc from your food (other than the obvious...no noodles, potatoes, etc)? What kind of sauce do you use that isn't super high in carbs, sugar, fat, etc? -
How often did you change clothes sizes?
texashopeful replied to lamsunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in a 26/28. 6 weeks out and now my 24's are a little big, but 22 is still a little tight. I can at least get in them though. I haven't been exercising as much as I should honestly. I stalled completely for about a week, but things seem to be picking back up. Lotst 3 more lbs this week and 3 1/2 inches. Good luck with your journey! -
I would suggest the quiche idea. Freeze them, then thaw/microwave for breakfast. If you are doing protein shake, the EAS carb control ones have the consistency of water with a chocolate or vanilla aftertaste. If you like vanilla coffee, you could add that into your coffee like a creamer. Oatmeal/ Cream of Wheat/ Grits/ Malt o meal will also work later on (during your mushies stage) and that can be stored in a drawer along with protein powder (to flavor) or pudding with protein. Best of luck! Let us know what you end up doing!

Very disappointing Surgeon Check-up
texashopeful replied to tbarnes18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was disappointed with my follow up appointments. Everyone was super nice, but I have still not met the actual dietician, always a nurse. Several of them had the procedure done, but I don't feel like I am loosing like I should either...I would like to ask the dietician a few questions. I haven't lost a lb or inch in over a week! I actually went up and then back to the original place, and my BMI is very high, so I thought I should loose quickly. The nurse said I was on the right track, and my body was thinking it was starving so it's holding on. She said likely it will start going back down. I haven't had a single thing that wasn't high in protein or on the list, so I am quite frustrated. I got 2 books (1 from my Dr. and 1 from the hospital) and they don't say the same things about food. She said to follow my Dr. book, but it doesn't go into much detail. It is so confusing and a little frustrating. I keep telling myself that I am heading to be a skinny me, so I need to figure out what works for my skinny version. Did anyone else "stall" for a week or 2? No NSV's either...I haven't lost a single inch in over a week. -
Nathan's hotdogs are the ones I've found with the best protein vs. carb/ calories. My dr says not to worry about the fat content as much in the beginning, as long as it is high in protein. Also, they say on the package that they are "skinless". They have a great flavor, but I can only eat about 1/2 (if that much) at one time. Great for a salty snack though (besides tuna and/or chicken salad). Cal: 100, Fat: 15g, Carb: 1, Protein 7.

How long must I take protein drinks?
texashopeful replied to Sunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I wouldn't mind taking 2 or 3 several times a day though...hmmm...someone should invent that! -
Weird...and some TMI to boot.
texashopeful replied to goodlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah for you!!! As for me, I haven't lost a single thing this week!! I gained 2 lbs and lost that back, so I am exactly where I was last Monday. I am starting my 5th week today, and am really frustrated. I am NOT eating enough to be staying at my current weight! I am still struggling with getting all my fluids in. Maybe I am having too much fruit? I had fruit with a shake or cottage cheese about once a day. It seems like since I switched to softs/ blended I am stuck. I am so scared that I won't loose, and that I spent all that money for nothing. My pd ended a week ago, so maybe it is something to do with that? Seems like I would have weighed more that week instead of this one! HELP!!! I guess I shouldn't complain, 35 lbs lost since I started tihs journey isn't too bad. Again, congrats on the 8 lb drop! -
What do I do?
texashopeful replied to songbird_kay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having the same problem until I was on more solid foods (AKA soft foods). I am almost 5 weeks out now, and just started having more solid bm's. I went from one extreme to the other actually, if you catch my drift. I am starting to go back on more of the shakes, protein drinks. I think I've been trying to get too much food too fast so I could get in the protein, and I started not to loose weight. I was still eating the recommended amounts, and could only get about 2-4 oz of anything at once...still at that point, so I would eat all day to keep up with protein, and thus not getting all my fluids. You just have to find what works for you, as far as I can tell. -
Soft foods vs protein guidelines
texashopeful replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone! I am having the same issues, and for some reason gained back 2 lbs! I think it is because I haven't been walking as much cause I feel too full all day long. Its starting to cause headaches too, so I think I may go back to shakes for a couple of days to see if it improves. I have started adding unflavored protein to the protein shakes. I use the optifast ones I have leftover, and can get about 28g protein total in it... tried doing a whole scoop of unflavored with the 14g drink, but that was a little much and didn't turn out right. One think I have found is that I can do chicken salad if I make it liquid enough, and then add some boiled egg for thickness to make it feel like I'm actually eating. I can do about 1/4 cup that way, and just do it several times a day. You would think with the amount we are eating, the weight would just drop off...weird. I can't believe I gained! We'll see on Monday I suppose! Sorry for the rant, hope it helped! It helps me to know I'm not alone. -
I found a website that has all kinds of high protein recipies that call for this...stuff like cake, ice cream, etc. It is from a lady who had a bariatric procedure done, and has experimented with them. It has great reviews!! Check it out if your are interested! theworldaccordingtoeggface Sounds weird, I know, but great site! Still trying to find the sugar free kind without ordering online. I'll check sam's next!

How much could you eat and when?
texashopeful replied to CraftyChristie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my 4th week. I am never hungry. I have to force myself to eat or drink anything, cause I just feel so full when I do...no matter how much I have or how long I take to consume it. Between trying to get in the protein with regular/ blended food, and the vitamins, I feel like I am going to be sick (overful) anytime I eat! I have been able to get in 1/2 cup of cottage chesse and some peaches in about 2 hours, and by then, it should be time to eat again! I am so frustrated!!! -
I am on full liquids for another week, which means blended Soups and broth, etc...but nothing of sustenance. I am having SO much trouble getting in 60 grams of Protein. I can get about 50, and my doctor says that's okay, but I am getting so sick of sweet protein. I haven't been able to find anything I can heat sufficiently, the protein goes weird when you get it hot and by the time I can eat it all, it is cold. I have tried unflavored protein from GNC, Optifast tomato and chicken soups...by the way..kinda gritty, and I have unjury Chicken Soup, which is okay, but you can't really warm it too much. I like my food HOT! I can't seem to add enough protein without it getting too gritty or clabboring because of the heat. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can get protein in a form other than sweets? Or have a trick on heating protein with food? I'd appreciate any advice!

My husband and I have also been trying for over 3 years, and I am 28. I have not had any children, and want one more than one can imagine. I had the sleeve done 3 weeks ago, and have lost a total of almost 30 lbs. I understand your struggle, but having done some research, it is more likely to get pg after surgery, not to mention your child is less likely to have the weight problems that I am sure we all have struggled with our entire lives. That to me is worth not having any of my favorite foods ever again (and yes, I realize that I can have some of them...just emphasizing the point). We even did an IVF with ICSI that did not work, so I completly understand your point...you always wish for that BFP. Just know that you are understood here. Best of luck with your surgery!!! and eventually that baby!!!

Heating protein? Turns weird!
texashopeful replied to texashopeful's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
