Dr. Alex Esquivel - Dr. Esquivel and True Results are top notch
angelahill replied to Texasjlc's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello, I was banded by Dr. Esquivel on 4/20 and after surgery was in horrible pain! Much more than I expected being that I was continously told this was a minimumly invasive surgery and I could be back to work in a few days. I live an hour and a half away from Austin so with the pain and complications I was feeling, my family expressed concern about sending me home that same day, in case of emergency. Needless to say I was released send home and EMS was at my home an hour after I got there, do to me not being able to breathe and the unbearable pain. I was transported to SAMC the next day @ Dr. Esquivels request and spent the next 4 days there. Dr Esquivel swore to my family that this had never happened before and he was in wonderment what had gone wrong. Upon my release I learned that there was another individual that had been banded on the same day, that was also admitted due to complications. As of now I am still in extreme pain and experiencing difficulty breathing. If I was asked at this point if I would endure this process again, my answer would be NO, that may change in 6 months but as of now that is my answer. I feel as though I may have chosen the wrong surgeon, I met the Dr. 2 weeks before surgery and the day of for a 5 minute conversation where he seemed as though he had a million other places he'd rather be than spending time answering my questions or calming my fears. NOT IMPRESSED with Dr. Esquivel..period. It was a very unpersonal experience and to this day have not recieved any phone call or email from him or his nurse asking how I was doing. He does 10 a day, your in and your out! As for the True Results team in Austin...These are the most exceptional people I have ever come across! My patient advocate is Paul and he is nothing short of an Angel in my fight to have this surgery. It is very disheartening that this office staff are such wonderful caring people and then have a surgeon who you are just a number! -
You've Got Questions? I Have Answers!
angelahill replied to Makulafamy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You somewhat calmed my nerves on if I am making the right decision! My surgery date is Wednesday April 20th, and the more blogs I read the more nervous I got. I see alot of people on here that have not had a BMI as high as mine. I am 5'11 370 and a BMI of 54. My goal weight is between 180-190. What is your opinion...Is this to heavy to expect these results? I considered Gastric Bypass but was afraid of the side effects and the success rate for long term weight loss is not very impressive. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your story!
