I GOT APPROVED!! by Aetna, date set for Oct 6th
Khy replied to BigServ's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
GRATZ! Yes u will feel nervous. When I went through it.. it felt like being at the top of a roller coaster ride waiting for the big drop. Scary and ecxciting all at the same time. Now I am fighting the head hunger demons. You will do fine. Khy -
Insurance companies are very busy this time of year. You need to keep in contact and advocate for yourself. My precert was sent in June 21st. July 1st they still did not even have me in the system even though I had called everyday. They put me in the system because I called and expressed a great deal of concern. The insurance company requested more information July 6th and it was sent in that day. July 11th they still did not have it attached to my file. They finally attached it to my file because I called and asked them to look for the information that was sent by my doctor. Most doctor's office insurance personnel are pretty on top of sending in what is requested but they do not have time to call for every patient everyday to make sure the insurance company has acted on the files or information they have received. Recieved a letter from Aetna saying that I am responsible for $1, 456.22 for the stent my doc put in during surgery. Furthermore Aetna wants to know if this is the first stent I have had put in.... My surgeon denies that he put in a stent. He said they only thing they sent Aetna was a surgical report stating that he did a sleeve gastrectomy and nowhere did it mention a stent. Sigh... Oh well I guess my surgeon won't be too upset if I don't pay him for the stent he never put in. Khy

My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. I have had a pretty problem free recovery. Yes I did feel tired a couple of weeks after surgery but then I think that is normal. While I can't claim the weight loss some have had, I have had much more weight loss than if I had tried to do it on my own. It has given me the chance to deal with my food issues. 5 year data suggests that I have a good chance of this being permanent weight loss. Khy

I'm Losing My Mind !!! Any Albertans out there with VSG?
Khy replied to chunk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I am not from Canada but I guess I am one of the (so far) success stories. I have had what my doctor calls an uneventful recovery. That means I have not had any vomiting or nausea, no leaks, no infections, no undue amounts of pain ( Maybe i am a boring patient? LOL) Yes I was tired the first 4 weeks and didn't really start feeling good until I started on solid food. I am fine now and at 6 weeks I have lost a bit more than 25% of my excess weight. You have to make your own decision but you do need to do something for about your health. Khy -
Have your insurance coordintor contact them and ask specifically what is missing. That way you can give them what they want and don't have to use up all your appeals. Khy
-
Well for those that don't want augmentation, you can just get them rehung. Khy
-
I was put on pureed foods at 2 weeks and easy solids at 4 weeks. I had a very uneventful recovery ( as my doctor puts it) so maybe that is why he advanced my diet. Khy

My surgeon knows about it. I asked him about it at my last appointment. He thought it was funny. Khy

I think they will find their mistake eventually. I did the 3month surgery prep thing. Once I did all the things they wanted they approved me. The approval process was a bit slow. Read my topic on "advocate for yourself." I am about 6 weeks out now and am very happy I did this. Khy

Chike Protein from Bariatric Advantage
Khy replied to wannabeskinny's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love chike! I mixed most of them with water. Great taste. Mixing them with milk early on made them too hard to get down but with water it worked well. Khy -

Definitely blew it today

Well pick yourself up and climb back on the horse. No one is perfect. Just as long as it doesn't become a habit you will be fine. Next event like this take something along you are allowed to have.. sugar free pudding or some low carb ice cream. Khy -
I like the Beaujolais and Merlots... Not too dry, not too sweet. Cabernets taste like tannin to me. Khy

What is your favorite Crock Pot Recipe?
Khy replied to Brandi Lewis's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
You can use a beef roast or stew meat. Brown meat in skillet. Add 1 bottle of red wine, then enought water to cover the top. Add sage (1 tea), rosemary (1 tbl.) thyme (1 tea) and salt and some garlic powder. About 2 hours before you serve add some baby carrots and I add potatoes for the family. I take out my portion(s) and then reduce the liquid a bit and make gravy for the family. My family loves it. The meat absorbs enough of the flavor to make me happy too. Khy -

Beautiful tatas! They look just right on you. You are filling out your clothes in all the right places... Can't wait until I am there. Khy -
Sadly yes... My doc requires us to track calories (800/day). Carbs ( under 50/day), Protein(80-90/day) and fat (3 or less grams/serving of whatever we are eating). Khy

I have been storm proofing the yard, getting in supplies, cooking for the next several days because we will probably not have power. Now husband wants fresh baked bread... none of which I can have... Khy

Well I am back. Have my exercise cut out for me for the next several days. Due to failure of the sump pump and failure of the back up sump pump, I ended up with 2 feet of water in a finished basement. Needless to say, furniture is ruined, carpet is totaled, dry wall needs to be removed... and OMG the smell! Tomorrow is moving books and cutting up the carpet for removal. And of course, the only tree down in the neightborhood is the one that tore a hole in my garage. I think Murphy is in love with me. Khy
