My date has changed to the 28th. I don't know why except the nurse told me he likes to to vsg on Thursdays. Khy
-
My surgery is the 28th and I feel that way already. I feel jumpy and nervous. Yes I want this surgery but the what ifs keep creeping into my mind. It isn't like I haven't had surgery before. Also the "how did I get this way" enters my mind too. Try some relaxation exercises. Drink some milk before you go to bed. Get ready for the great adventure of losing and liking what u see in the mirror. Khy

Yes my doctor offers the Blis coverage in case of complications. It is for 30 days with the option of purchasing longer coverage. I was thinking of using Blis to finance my surgery as Blis does have this program. Problem is... doctor and hospital have to already be set up to accept payment this way and even though my doc does the aftercare coverage, he is not set up to accept payments from Blis. I wish more doctors would do this as it would make WLS more accessible to people who need it. Part of my reason for not going to Mex. to have it done is... what happens when I get back? What if I have complicatuions? I would rather have a bariatric surgeon looking after me if some thing did occur. When I had my bladder repair I developed a big abcess under the incision site. So I am not a stranger to post op complications. Khy

Hope you are feeling better. Keep us updated Khy

Talked to my insurance company and after asking for several other things which my doctor's office provided....They now say they are waiting on clinicals from the doctor... What are they talking about? Khy
-
I think it is wonderful that you are doing that. I have only known 2 that had WLS. One had complications... incision wouldn't close. Another ended up looking WONDERFUL but it was a hard journey for her. She had restrictions or adhesions or something but I know she had to have a second surgery. Everyone always told me it was so dangerous. I think any surgery has the possibility of complications. I am so glad that you are spreading the word that it is possible and maybe a life saving thing for some people. I wonder why more family practice doctors or internists don't recommend this to their patients. I know it was never mentioned to me. Khy

Is anyone else OBSESSING over getting this sleeve done? It's all I think about!
Khy replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am obsessing about it a good bit. I have everything done and just waiting to see if insurance will cover or if I will be a self pay. I hate this part where everything is done and it is out of my hands... LOL Khy -
Being Treated Differently
Khy replied to buchannon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I don't have my sleeve yet so I am still heavy. I guess what really irks me is people assume I am really stupid because I am fat. I even find other fat people making the same assumption! Khy -
Thinking of you and hope all goes well. Let us know how you are doing when you can. Khy

I am in VA and will be sleeved July 28th. Once it is done, I will let you know how it went. Post op diets and restrictions vary greatly with the surgeon. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes for you. Khy

How many days after surgery are you restricted from driving? Khy

What I learned at my Nut Class
Khy replied to Texasmom65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doctors seem to vary on strictness. Mine allows alcohol and caffeine after one year. I LOVE bubbles in drinks. I will miss that the most of anything. My Doc did warn me that some people can never have carbonated drinks again because it causes pain and others find it is no problem. But it is best to follow your Doc's advice... well at least for a year.. LOL Khy -
Good Luck and please post how the surgery went! We who are waiting...wanna know the details. LOL Khy

WOW... I see the muscles in your abs! Lookin GOOD! -
I have hypothyroidism but I have not had the sleeve yet. I am thinking weight loss for us might be slightly slower but not a great deal. My doctor says he does alot of hypothyroid patients and he has seen good results. Make sure your TSH is where it is supposed to be. One thing he did say was that he did not want to get into surgery with a patient that did not have the correct TSH levels. Khy

Congratulations! I am glad it all worked out for you. You must be so excited. All that work for 6 months...and they denied the first time.. ARGGG but now all is well! I am still waiting approval. Spoke to the insurance person at my docs office today and she said she talked to Aetna but they wouldn't tell her anything more than she told me. She said she would try to get in contact with the nurse that was looking at my case and try to see if they would tell her where they were with it. Khy

I am wondering if as I lose weight with the sleeve, will my synthroid dose change? I am taking 0.2mg daily. Will I need less when I weigh less or does this tend to be a static thing? What has everyone else's experience been? Khy

First time I went to buy biotin.. the store only carried the 7,500 mcg. I went out today to replenish my supply and the store that I went to carried 1,000mcg or 5,000mcg. How much is the recommended doseage for WLS patients? Khy

Called Aetna to check on the status of the precert. Took along time just to figure out how to talk to a real person...so how often should I bug them about the status? They told me not to call back for a week and 1/2. They woudn't know anything until then. I was thinking maybe every other day would be ok or is that too often? Khy

Weird complication after revision
Khy replied to baytee's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Glad you are feeling better and have had this problem taken care of. How Lucky you are to have a bariatric surgeon that will take you on even though he did not do the revision. You will get through this and all will be well. Khy -
