study by Dr in California of 5 year patients?
Khy replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor talked to me a little about this. He said the studies include all ages of adults up to people who are 70 years old. All weight ranges permitted for bariatric surgery, and of course all ranges of motivation. He said he would like to see studies done by separating the ages and weight ranges and those that continued to make exercise part of their lives. I can see where you might have some different results (especially with regard to exercise) if these types of studies were done. During my pre-surgery class the nut said we should very rarely or never eat deep fried foods. One of the ladies in the back said "Really? Never? You mean I can't eat those after I get to the solid food stage?" Khy -
Where do you get EmergenC? I have seen several people on the forum mention it. Khy

I grew up in Cincinnati... Cincinnati chili is... well different. It is hot and spicy but has instant coffee and unsweetened chocolate and sometimes cloves or allspice in it. Sugar is never added! It is served alone or over spaghetti. You can choose to add beans, cheddar cheese, or onions on top. I love it but people from other places have told me it "must be an aquired taste." Khy

Some people are just UNBELIEVABLE
Khy replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe now I understand what my surgeon meant yesterday when he said "I think you will do well with this surgery. You seem to have a very good grasp of what is being done and the things you are supposed to do afterwards." I kinda got a funny look on my face and said..well the concept isn't rocket science... smaller stomach, less food goes in. Too much food and you compromise the staple line. He told me I would be surprised at the things people do their first or second week out. Anyone ever hear of Darwin Awards? Some DNA should be marked as non-refillable. Khy -
Is anyone else OBSESSING over getting this sleeve done? It's all I think about!
Khy replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes of course I am obsessing. Surgery is the 26th. Jumped through the last hoop today. I had my follow up with the cardiac doc. After all those tests I went through and being so scared, he said he couldn't find anything wrong and didn't know why my T- waves were inverted on the ekg. Khy -
Wow that must feel good! Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration! Khy

I have heard people say how fast they gow through the sizes and to not buy much of any one size. How fast do you find you are going through bra sizes? I have recently found a bra that is SOOOO comfortable for me. I only own one of these and am so tempted to go buy another. I could try to buy a smaller size but well it gets alittle more complicated when you are dealing with band size and cup size. Khy

What does your doctor say about this? Maybe you should make an appointment and explain your concerns in detail. Maybe you just have the flu or maybe it is something else. Go talk to him/her and keep us updated on how you are doing. Khy

Wow You are doing great! I hope I am as lucky as you. Now you are on the losers bench! The rest of of us firecrackers are anxious to join you! Khy

LOL I ams so nervous about the upcoming surgery... Went to get my stess test yesterday and they had my surgery listed as the 28th. I knew they changed it from the 27th to the 28th awhile back. The OR nurse called this morning and she said she had me scheduled for the 26th.... I received paper work for the surgery from the Doc's office today and it says the 26th.... I called to ask what day to show up and haven't got a call back yet.. I hope I show up on the right day... I know my Dr. likes to do all lap bands one day and all bypass the next day and all vsg the next day... Silly thought... what happens if I end up with the wrong surgery... I know that won't happen.. just more of my silly brain going "What if..." Thanks for letting me vent some of my crazy thoughts and nerves. Khy

Aetna approved me today! Finally! I have to applaud my Dr.'s staff. They really know how to work with the insurance companies. Aetna requires 2 years history of weight. The staff said give us 5. Aetna requires 3 visits with the nurtritionist, the staff said you will probably need 4. They were right. They sent 3 and Aetna requested more. They sent in my last visit and I was approved. Now all I have to do is pass the cardiac clearence. Khy

I want it so bad I can TASTE it!
Khy replied to Rootman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can do it! Just keep eating the things you should and exercising. If you do those things, it is inevitiable that it will come off. Khy -
So funny and Sooo true  Giggling imagining the pre-op and 6 month post op pics. Khy

Tired of hearing you don't look that big to need surgery!
Khy replied to sugarmamma7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ignore them. They have not walked in your shoes. Some people just really don't understand. I have had people tell me "Oh you don't want to do that. It never works. Everyone always gets fat again." That is one of the reasons I have decided not to tell very many people about what I am doing. YOu know this is the right decision for you. Go for it. Khy -

Take care, follow the Dr.'s instructions, relax and have sweet dreams! Khy -
Well my EKG came back abnormal so it was off the the cardiologist to get a cardiac clearence. Something about inverted T waves. From what I can look up on the internet... anything from not serious to very serious. Had a sonogram of the heart today. Thursday I go for a nuclear stress test. Has anyone had one of those before? What should I expect? Khy

Any belly dancers here? If so what style do u dance? Asked my Dr. how soon I could go back to my dance class after surgery ( although I didn't mention what kind of dance). He said 2 weeks. I am wondering if that is too soon. Most of belly dance is either glut or abs driven. Khy

There are many styles of bellydance. Each have their own look. Cabaret or Egyptian are what you think of as the tradtional bellydance. American Tribal Style was invented by Carolena Nericcio and her troop is called Fat Chance Belly Dance ( in reference to all the idiots that were asking for a private or table dance). A style that sprung from that is called Tribal Fusion. Even though its roots are ATS, it looks very different. Turkish bellydance looks somewhat different than cabaret. For getting an idea of what cabaret looks like ... look on youtube for Sadie & Kaya or just Sadie. To see what ATS looks like ... of course look at Fat cChance Belly Dance. For Tribal Fusion, look at Zoe Jakes or Rachael Brice. Bellydance provides good workout for your abs. Khy

After talking to Aetna today, I am probably looking at self pay. My doctor includes the Blis after care program in his self pay price. I called Blis and they do offer loans for self pay patients. I am wondering if anyone here has used them for self pay and and was it a good or bad experience? Khy

Wow Lots of teachers on here. My surgery is July 28th. I will go back towards the end of August. Only thing I am worried about is the diarrhea everyone talks about until they get some solid food. I teach 7th grade and I CANNOT leave them alone. Not sure what the solution is... but... guess I will have to find someone to depend on. C.
