Looking for people in our area who can relate. I was banded on March 22nd 2011. I had my first fill on 4/4/11. Look forward to meeting others in the same boat.

Don't doubt yourself. It wasn't easy to get the surgery, but you did it. Now, trust in yourself & let the band do it's job. Also, if you have too much pain call you doctor. Run it by them & see if they think you should be concern. I didn't want to bother anyone, so I just stuck it out. Come to think about it, I should have bothered them. If I bought a car that wasn't running right, I would called the dealership. I am so much better than any car I have driven, so I should have talked to the nurse at the office at least. Good news is I was alright! I pray you will be too!

It does! I felt the same way & milked my pain meds those first two weeks with Gas X & a heating pad & walked, walked, & walked some more. I made sure I drank my 64 oz. of liquid a day. I began to be more like myself about day 10. I hope this helps & God Bless!

FYI silicone strips to minimize scars

I saw those too, but went with a cheaper option. I bought a $1.50 pure Vitamin E stick. I think it is working. I am now 4 weeks out & my incision sites are beginning to take on a lighter tone. (I started using twice a day as soon as sites were healed over) Keep me posted about the strips, I am wondering how they work. Best of luck to you! -
Well I'm officially banded!

Be sure to pick up Gas X & heating pad before surgery. Theses two thing made the difference in my recovery. I was banded on 3/22 & had to also have hiatal hernia repair (which I didn't know to after surgery was complete). So, most of the discomfort I had was from the hernia repair. My left shoulder is the area of my pain. So, with Gas X & heating pad it got better fast. Good Luck & prayers! -
I was banded on 3/22 & first fill 4/4. Had hiatal hernia repair done along with the band. The hernia repair caused more pain during recovery than the band. Start weight was 241 & now I am @ 222. I traveled 3 hours away from home to get the band b/c I wanted a excellent doctor. The only thing is there are no support groups in my area. I am coming to grips that I am food addict. The first week without real food had me going through withdrawals. It was not pretty. I am surviving & will make it, but it is a long way to overcoming years of bad choices. I love being on the go all the time, so the fatigue had me bummed out in the beginning. I am doing more now & moving ahead. Yet, there is always a price for doing too much to fast. Last night at a little league ball game I had a very tall & big teenager run over me & knock me to the ground. So today, I have been taken it easy. I am sore from the whole thing. To let y'all know, I am new to this! I hope to make some life long friends here! God Bless each of you!
