    Liquid preop begins today

So your doctor allows more on the liquid phase than most, I can't have yogurt or cottage cheese- just shakes, broth, Jello, water. You're lucky!

    Liquid preop begins today

I think it is wrong to expect you to do liquids only with the job. Speak to your doctor about perhaps adding some chicken and a vegetable at night- keeping to the low carb thing but giving you some more substance. I have been ok on the liquids but I am nearly sedentary in my work. Take care of yourself! AT least make sure you have 4 0r 5 shakes a day- keep that Protein in there!
  3. This is what I have so far- nine (I keep coming back and changing this!)of us on the 9th! Everyone- add your name if it is not here and should be! 4. I too had a fun fun food week before this two weeks of liquids. I gained 4 pounds that week- ah the memories! I quickly lost it and so far 8 more pounds. My surgery is on Monday and I know what to do for optimum use of this window of losing time we are given. If I were you, I would think about doing Protein shakes, or at least low carb on June 1st so that by the 13th you at least wont feel as much of a loss of carbs. You will be dealing with enough healing and recovering and learning how to live with the sleeve- to be in major withdrawal from carbs would just add to your issues! Good luck to you!
  5. I think you got a good answer- yes of course we could all do the diet but I am on pre-op right now and I am HUNGRY- yes, I would follow it for a while, and may lose a lot- 40, even 50 pounds but I KNOW I would not stick to it long enough to lose all the weight I want to lose, and I would gain it back plus probably some more. We get to this point where we do something like this that is extreme, that is not easy, that changes our lives forever because we know that will not work for us any more. During this two weeks of liquids people kept asking me why I don't just keep going- I know better than to even try to explain. I know the little girl inside of me was waiting to be off this diet and to eat for all the old emotional reasons- well she is going to have a tiny tummy now the help the rational me keep her in check! And that's that. You have to look at your own life and see if you could make it work without the sleeve. Only you know.
  6. You are in my healing thoughts and prayers tonight. You are finally there! Hooray! We will anxiously await your wonderful story of how effortless and easy it was ! I will it to be so.
  7. It makes no sense but just kind of happened- to think I will always be reminded of my pre-surgery baking :rolleyes:The cake I baked is even featured in my You Tube vlog. I don't know if my doctor would say ok but I log everything and make sure to stay low on carbs. I got the banana really ripe and 1/4 of one is enough- and three strawberries- not too many carbs. I really dislike the artificial sweetener sicky sweet taste and this helps, as does coffee mixed with the chocolate ones- regular this week, decaf after surgery.
  8. I am hungry every day. I thought it would go away but especially after my Water aerobics I am hungry. I look forward to having a small stomach! Since I have a cold my biggest issue now is that I can;t take Advil since yesterday and it is my go to drug for feeling like this. I KNOW I would feel much better if only I could take it. Power through! We CAN do this. Sorry girl- YOU are the lucky one! I am sick right now and would love to have some Soup, I'll have some broth- big whoop. You also will probably post big weight loss numbers right out of the gate whereas we may slow a bit soone having dieted so strenuously before. CInco de Mayo for you!
  9. I am hungry every night. I have added a quarter of a banana or 3 strawberries to almost every shake except the chocolate ones- they really help cut the super sweet taste and make it more real. I have lost 12 pounds so I don't thin it has hurt me and i log everything on fatsecret.com so I make sure I keep my carbs low. So glad your sinus infection is over! I almost always get those when I get sick but I am using the sinus lavage twice a day- so you have one of those? My doctor said if you use them from the beginning of a cold they are better than antibiotics! And Dawn- since i have passed menopause luckily that wont be an issue ;-P and thank heaven yours came now! When I had my back surgery in 2004 I was on my heaviest day- it was so embarrassing!

    Your kidding me, right???

Mine is definitely a cold. I was really tired at Water aerobics last night but with eating, or should I say drinking 500 calories a day it could have been that- but when I got home it was in my chest and I knew it. I have slept most of the day today... but good news is I was a bit better when I woke up and I think it will be a quick one. I am using my sinus lavage twice a day since everything goes to my sinuses... also adding strawberries and banana to my Protein drinks to help up my c and citamins and of course hitting the airborne and the emergen-c....and I will contact my doctor and see what could happen. Healing light to everyone!!!!!

    Tomorrow is my big day

Love and light and healing to you! I will think about you tomorrow. You too Kristy. I will you to have effortless easy surgeries and quick healing!

    Your kidding me, right???

OMG Michelle- I came over to Pre-Op to post THE SAME THING! I woke up today with a sore throat- thought it was allergies- but tonight I feel like crap and I know I am sick. My son had a cold and we worked together shooting a wedding Saturday. I drank airborne all weekend trying to protect myself but nope. I am so scared! It always seems to go to my lungs and get bad. I just will freak if they cancel my surgery! With one week to go....here we are! ACK! Hugs to you!!!!
  13. Keeping you in my prayers today!
  14. Come to my Red Velvet Thread where we are all talking about our issues, struggles, and fears in the pre-op phase.... I added you to the list on our date! xoxo

  15. You re certainly in mine right here right now! You must be so excited!
  16. OK Guys- I thought I would post a list of what I know so far based on posts here- copy it and add your name if you want- I think it would be great if we all know so we can do a prayer circle of sort- keeping our fellow sleevers in heart and mind on their days- hoping they have an easy effortless time in surgery and then heal quickly! 17. Wow- you are getting close! I can't believe they are making you do TWO days of clears before on top of the five weeks of diet- one day of clears seems about right to me- I have done that for a colonscopy- but two? Blessings with you! I think the thing I keep thinking is all this diet followed by major surgery and then weeks of recovery and not real food until - for me- about six weeks if everything goes well. Sigh. However, at least we will have tiny tummies and eventually no hunger hormone. God good luck and I will think about you on Tuesday! I will pray hard for you to get your job first and then that you sail through your surgery easily and effortlessly. This truly will be a new beginning for you! I just hope we are not this hungry after- seems like that really does go away , especially after the hunger hormone goes away! Easily and effortlessly- that is also my hope for you! Yay Connie- you are almost there! I think I need to do a list of our dates ;-P SO my aging brain knows who needs to be in my healing easy effortless thoughts and prayers! Can't wait to hear how you all do. My husband got me a Magic Bullet too- I love it for the shakes and it will be so cool for the purees too. Seems a shame they make you go to Dallas twice...why can't they have you do the tests that need results close to you and just the true preop paperwork etc. that day? With gas the price it is it really makes a difference, huh? Well, I did eat yesterday. I had the meat and vegetable at the wedding but not the potatoes. I just could not have been on liquids working 11 hours on our feet and running around. The wedding was really hard on my back and knees and I kept thinking I will never be that heavy at a wedding again. We have one Friday but I will just go to the early orning ceremony and then my husband and son will cover the evening Chinese Banquet- I will be two days pre-op and don't really want to be at a reception where the whole reason for being there is 12 course of food! OK I am going over this thread to figure out who is being sleeved when and will posty a master list that you ll can add to or change...
  18. I swear I approached this first day of liquids with absolute clarity- forewarned and forearmed with as much advice and knowledge as a person could have thanks to this forum and the many You Tubes I have watched. I knew that starting to day and from here out the key to making a success of all this is Protein, making sure I get the 80 grams my doctor has told me based on my weight and my goal that I need. I got a lot of samples of different Protein powder from different sources that I have had on hand witing sampling. My doctor told me he drinks a Premier Protein Drink from costco every morning and my nutritionist told me they are universally liked by everyone who tries them So I had two vanilla and two chocolate chilling in the fridge awaiting my command. I shook madly and opened a chocolate one and starting drinking it. To say the taste was disgusting to me was putting it verrry verrry mildly. It came up almost immediately. That is NOT something that happens to me! In addition, I cannot get that aftertaste out of my being- it seems to have melded with me- my dog even smells like the taste, in fact the whole house does- and just looking at a Premier container makes me want to vomit again. I have not been able to even drink anything since and just plan to go to bed and forget the whole day happened. WTF! I am terrified to try any of them now- I have this ghastly feeling I am allergic to whey protein or just wont be able to find one I can drink and then how am I to take care of myself properly for the next four weeks- two before and two after surgery? What happens if I can' find protein powder I can use to give me the extra amount I need? HELP!!!! EVerything I know seems to have no meaning right now....

    Hi there!

Welcome to a great place for support! I hope your husband can get on board as his support could really help you. But you are doing this for YOU! Stand strong and let him know how much this means to you . Maybe if he realizes how much more active and healthy you wlll be he will come around. Here is the tutorial for adding your weight loss ticker- Ticker tutorial
  20. I kept looking in Post=op to see how you are doing and finally found this- so glad it had gone so well for you! Keep chiming in- I enjoy your take on thing my friend. And I KNOW you will be rocking that sleeve ver soon! xoxo
  21. Did the doctor say you have to lose a certain amount? I think we lose a lot of Water and then you get down to the fat, which is harder to burn. How many calories have you been eating? I am so bad with the shakes I have had about 600 calories a day. i'll have to check those Boost Glucose shakes out.... Wow- 18 pounds- that is awesome! You are almost there- awesome. Just thin how much easier liquids will be with a tiny tummy! The thing I keep reminding myself re: the constipation, is that with liquid there just isn't that much waste! Although I have definitely slowed down that way I saw a Dr Oz recently that said three times a week is normal, so I am just relaxing about it. I am sure it will be much worse after surgery! I've lost 10 pounds! Nights are still really hard- I am so hungry I am grouchy. It shows how much easier that will be post sleeve- bring it on! Today we photograph an 11 hour wedding- I am going to eat a small meal at the reception as we work so hard I just can't be top form on liquids. This couple didn't book us only to have me be low energy and not my usual self! The weddings really take a lot out of us! I wont blow it with carbs, etc., I will have the protein at the buffet. And of course the funny thing is I wok up in much better shape and totally ready to do liquids again. After today I will be 8 days on liquids without wavering. May 2nd peeps- you must be getting excited! (Do they do surgeries on Sundays? If so woo hoo May first!) Chin up Red Velvets- eyes on the prize!
  22. My friend- as someone who is having surgery in 11- count 'em-11 days this is very very good news! I had hoped to have a post like this from you! And it is even sooner than I might have predicted. I have thought all along that the first painful time is not suprising considering how our bids must feel losing 85% of an organ that has been the source of a lot of joy and comfort for many years. I do not blame our bodies at all for completely freaking out! ANd I plan to be very kind to mine and to follow my doctor's conservative orders in the faith that like yours, my body will adapt to this new state of affairs. Ok, I hear you, you don't have to count the daysany more! But please please please don't go away. Unless it is to start a blog where we can still read what you have to say. On this your one month ann'y- I am remembering your post about sitting , trying to pack and blowing up the balloons with your trip to Mexico looming. Long ag and far away eh?.
  23. What a cool problem to have! After I posted about my say goodbye to food red velvet cake I made several people being sleeved on the 9th said it was their favorite too so we christened ourselves! Te Protein powder sample I tried tonight was digossssting! Oh well....
