  1. Yep- but I think it is three bruises from three shots grown together. I read a thing about the bruise being different depending on the duration of the shot. Some of the nurses were very adept- others, not so much. Maybe I will see if the on call doc can receive pix on his phone!
  2. I do appreciate them saying to listen to my intuition about artificial sweeteners. But being as I had my sleeve already I certainly do not need a referral! I'll tell you something Renee- as prepared as I was I didn't think about my fibro for a moment! D'uh! Other than the fact that I believe taking the weight off this body of mine will dramatically benefit all my conditions- including my fibro. You need to put those fear aside- fear serves no purpose! Remember that even though I can hardly hold my head up right now (late afternoon early evening is a low energy time!) I would not change a thing. I am even too tired to post but giant hugs to you and you have a friend here to help you through your surgery when the time comes- it is great I will be a little bit ahead of you so you can have hope!
  3. I can't help but come back to your post. Seriously this was just plain insulting. I did thorough research and made life changes months ago . Stevia worked for YOU. YOU hit your goal in five months. YOU had no problems with any of the phases, apparently However I have news for you- it is not because of your superior preparation before. Surely in reading here on the forums you have seen that everyone experience is different. You can do everything you can to make your post op easy and hope that following all the golden rules (Protein, Water, exercise, low carbs, supplements) is effortless because of what you KNOW- However, your new tiny tummy does not always know what you know. I have fibromyalgia and my body already had a history of betraying me on occasion. I hoped for the best and right now I am scrambling to figure out what I can do that works. I asked about sugar because the other options were not working. Not because I am dumb, unprepared, etc. I am FOUR days post surgery. Perhaps you have forgotten how that felt.
  4. Certainly I of all people, struggling to drink and get any Protein here on day 4, know how hard it is to go through each stage. However, one thing I noticed was the high carbs in the oatmeal , and certainly in the mashed taters. Tasty as those things are my own dr. would lecture me severely because of the carbs. I have learned from all my research that those foods come third when we eat- protein first, fruits and veggies, second, carbs third. I have been kept on Clear liquids plus protein drinks for three weeks but when I get to have full liquids and mushies, I will add unflavored Protein powder to things like cream Soups, eggs, etc. I think adding 10-15 grams to your taters would have been a great thing to do! However- I get it- you are just starting out- we are just trying to get ourselves down the road and without pain. I will not lecture you about any mistake you might make! In fact- I am so jealous!!!! ;-P Do you have a magic bullet or blender? For pureeing? That would probably be great. I am having trouble finding a Protein Drink I can tolerate and Atkins is one I will try- but I think 15 grams is pretty low. I try to get a lot more protein bang for my buck. The chocolate I found by Champion Nutrition Pro Score has 30 grams in 2 scoops - great bang for the buck! Have fun ! Onward and downward! ;-P
  5. That just may help! I am not going to push myself until I can drink more without pain. Today has been much better for fluids, and one 30 grams of Protein shake. With setting my iPhone I think I pulled myself back from the brink of dehydration though my urine is quite dark so I will be closely monitoring. As prepared and researched as I was, you don't really know how it is until you are in it- and also everyone has a different degree of difficulty during healing. WIth my fibromyalgia I should have realized I might have some problems! D'uh! And the Propel grape Water is excellent! No one knows all of that more than me! Very similar things have been posted by me to others. Here's the thing- I tried countless samples and used my two weeks of liquids to find the best Protein Shakes for me. I found five different ones that were palatable and I got some of each to have here waiting for me. And so far, four days after surgery, all of them made me vomit. I am not talking about my approach to life when I am able to eat. I plan to count carbs, and I WILL make the most of this losing phase. But have a heart girl- you are being a bit harsh when I am vomiting and fighting dehydration, still feeling pain on swallowing, and my careful research was for naught. And where is your suggestion for what I might do to solve this? RIght now I need to get through this few weeks and heal my sleeve and move forward. No need to imply I am making excuses or sabotaging. I will try a different stevia but so far it made me vomit in my tea yesterday. Yep. Fatal in large quantities. Plus once they taste even a smidgen they then crave it- lethal combo of circumstances.
  6. I will definitely try one- I did NOT like stevia used in my tea but maybe it is more artfully used in the Jay Robbs- others have mentioned them. Ye- that is another reason I hate having introduced artificial sweeteners into our home- most of them are toxic to dogs and my dog is a light in my life . Here is where I stand today- I have decided to do a balance of full sugar and artificial. Today my formerly very fave chocolate Protein Powder tasted halfway decent with decaf coffee and ice blended into it. I think I can get it down as long as it is early in the day. The Dreyer's fruit popsicles I can also handle- in fact I LOVE them! (EDY's on the East Coast). But I will also allow myself a little sugar and my focus will be protein, and fluids, at least for this three weeks.

OMG this was so helpful! I swear I was so hard o myself for not being able to get Protein shakes in yesterday- I felt like a total failure. had been so carful to research and find some I loved before the surgery only to find they absolutely disgusted me after. Sigh. Today I am setting my iPhone to go off every 15 munutes and drinking 2 ounces of anything- water, warm tea, the decafcoffeee/chocolate Protein Drink that tastes way better in the morning....any liquid I can. I will just focus on liquid instead of beating myself up that the things I liked just last week I can no longer drink without gagging and vomiting. All I can say is my husband will be buff from drinking all the things I have that I can no longer tolerate!
  8. Thank you- he is a bright light for sure! Thanks for the tip about the spring water too. Today is a bit better- I am actually getting a 30g Protein shake down by setting my iPhone for every 15 minutes and using the 30ml cups they gave me at the hospital- every 15 30 ml of Protein Shake then 30 ml of water or warm tea. Someone posted elsewhere that you shouldn't worry about protein as much the first week and that took the pressure off of me for sure! Naturally I will make a video later ;-P

    10 Days POSTOP!!!

Wow Kristy you have had an amazing recovery! Woo Hoo! I am glad one of us did!
  10. There is a link in my signature. Plus you have to join you tube... Next thing you know you'll be making videos too!
  11. I have decided this- I really do not have choice at least at this point. The 2 lb Protein Drink that arrived today- my very very fave before surgery- not a chance. i got more fluids- but how will i get Protein? stevia was awful- have not tried agave Thanks for the idea Tiff! BTW curious- do you use splenda during the pregnancy? Splenda is by far the most palatable for me (NOT TODAY!!! ) but I worry about the left handed molecule and some of the other info about it. YOU HAVE SAVED ME!!!!!! All Caps on purpose! Here in the west Edy's is Dryers and I have had 2 today- I can get them down pretty quickly! And they are delish and soothing and since I have had about 10 calories today do I care about the carbs? NO. I will get one tomorrow! Too many new things on the shopping list today. Thanks! Have a bottle of grape chilling. Thanks. Today in addition, my doctor let me know he wants clears plus protein drinks for three weeks. I am pretty upset now about all this as though I have gotten much more Fluid in I haven't a cue how I will do protein with only sweet artificial protein drinks. Sigh.
  12. I can't comment at three days out as my outlook would be skewed by feeling a bit crappy! One thing I will relate is that my doctor id no lifting above 5 pound for four weeks. That is pertinent to me as I carry a camera plus flash at weddings that is more than that. You need to know you wont be suddenly needed for lifting. Take 3.

    My reasons for doing this

It took a lot to tip you! It was bad pain that keeps me almost bedridden that did it for me. I have accepted a quality of life that is WRONG for my age. When I first met with my surgeon he said he could see me in a wheelchair followed by an early death. Whoah there! Not me! I could not get this surgery soon enough. And I still feel that way , even though today I feel like crap, can;t get Protein down, ad am a poor pitiful me! It will be great ot have you amongst us!
  14. I thought you all might want to know that if you misspell your thread title all you have to do is click "use full edit" after clicking "Edit" and it actually will let you correct it. I keep noticing constiaption....etc. and know that the OP probably would like to change that! You click edit and then click the use fell edit AFTER that. Voila- the thread title lines appear for editing also. This may be helpful and maybe could be stickied somewhere!

    Surgery in the Morning!

How blessed you are to have your sister with you on this journey! My own sisters have been great about calling etc. but you will each know fully what it is like. It will be so interesting to see if you come through this differently! I will pray for you both tomorrow and don;t forget to let us know how you do! I am starting a post op Red Velvet Gang thread for all the May sleevers and make sure we see you there as soon as humanly possible ;-P How long do you two expect to be in the hospital? Do they have internet? LOL! Mine did but I was not in posting mood for a while...

Girl you are not alone- I am pretty miserable too! I only had nausea in recovery- they got it dealt with and sent me to my room, However I was kept an extra day as I was required to get at least 500 ml of liquid in and I couldn't do it. My discharge papers said- 64 ounces Water 75 grams protein- yeah, right! I am so glad to see above that everyone pretty much agreed that liquids can at first feel stuck going down- mine sure do.I will just trust it will get better. I stay on clears today plus Protein drinks if I want- then liquids tomorrow which adds yogurt, cottage cheese, cream soup-strained. I a thinking the taste of real food will help. One of my issues s that aspartame, nutrisweet, and to an extent splenda ( ot nearly as bad just too sweet) do not agree with me so I need to get my fluids without too many calories. And to top it off- last night a swallow of warm water made me vomit! WE WILL GET THERE AND WE WILL ROCK OUR SLEEVES!

    Surgery today in mexico

be strong my friend! Well get though it!
  18. Tanks for telling me this. I remember now you saying that about the sweeteners. Seriously I am also concerned about what we will find out in the future about their toxicity. I do have a couple of Protein drinks I have found that I can tolerate (Chike- using the net carbs it just fits in as a double protein single carb drink, and Champion Pro Scoree 100 in chocolate...and sort of the nectar stuff) but I do not want to over consume these things and even though splenda tastes ok if you carefully do not add too much I am not keen on using it, and sugar free EVERYTHING.
  19. Not at all....though you would net be jealous ot the condition my condition is in to get them!

  20. Dang it girl- don't you remember how it feels to laugh right after the sleeve? UNFAIR! I just read this to my husband and had to stop and laugh way too often. From what I have read the second phase weight loss has a lot to do with YOUR habits- are you exercising, getting the freaking Protein in, drinking the Water, etc. etc. blah blah blah And if you cut carbs and count, 'em all the better, 40 pounds? That is awesome! Meggie stops to wolf whistle and then doubles over in pain
  21. meggiep

    I did it!

You can get ALL your water in? 64 plus ounces? Man I am so jealous! I will be lucky to get a liter in today. I find both ater , broth, tea, etc all cause discomfort in the sleeve and also burping. I really am trying. You are a lucky lucky woman!
  22. and btw- my chronic pain has bought me a ticket on the permananent opioid ride...so I wont be cut off at any point- except my goal is to cut myself off and be back on my feet!

  23. Sunshine- yeah, right- I think I have looked progressively more like the crazy cat lady on the corner every day! I am so glad you have forgotten Mexico cause that means I will forget these past two days...I just tried two swallows of a protein drink I found half palatable before surgery and I can't drink it. No way. Sigh. Only water or tea is half way possible and even that is iffy...

  24. I have the worst time figuring out where comments, conversations etc. are so I feel like I seem to be ignoring people when it is the last thing I want to do! So if you started a convo with me and I never showed up it is because I have't figured out this interface and not because I do not want to converse with you!
