    Any headache tips?

I gave up caffeine for my 2 week pre-op so it's definitely not that. And I'm not taking any painkillers...

And THIS is why I'm fat...

It's only been four days. Your body is confused. Relax and give it more time- and STRONGLY consider not weighing yourself every day

Weight gain in 2 days HOW?

I don't ever count the gains (unless it's like 5 pounds) just the losses.

    Lap Band Removal

Michelle, my surgeon requires at least a 3 month healing period between removing the band and doing a different surgery. My period ended up being 6 months (because of waiting for different tests, approvals, etc). The band removal recovery was actually more painful than the bypass recovery, but both put together were less painful than recovering from having my band placed! Oh, both of my WLS surgeries were done by different offices and surgeons. I wasn't happy with the office that placed my band as the surgeon abruptly left and the whole staff was replaced a few months after I'd been banded. They changed everything and were terrible.
  5. Call your surgeon right now. This is not normal.

    Lap Band Removal

I'm in the same boat as you, though I had my band removed after 5 years. My surgeon won't place bands anymore because of how much damage they cause to the stomach. I had my bypass 3 weeks ago and my recovery has been so much smoother than recovering with the band. I'm so surprised.

    What apps do you use.

I ignore the message. You can still close out the day, they just won't give you the estimate of what you'll lose in the next six weeks. I really do wish there was a bariatric surgery override somewhere, but then those with eating disorders could misuse it so I understand why it isn't available.

Y'all! I just bought myself an Instant Pot!

    So... Did it come yet?

    Sharing my Doctor's Post-Op Diet

Lordy, my surgeon is slower than any other one I've seen so far. Clear liquids & protein shakes for FOUR weeks, with light yogurt (no fruit) and sugar-free pudding added in on week three.

    What are you eating!?

This woman had bypass years ago and had been blogging since- her site is a great place to find meal ideas and recipes. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/
  11. I'm honestly so stunned by the fact that my bypass surgery recovery has been SO much less painful than recovery from having my band replaced. With the band I felt pressure/pain in my diaphragm for months after surgery... My port pain NEVER went away in 5 years... I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath for such a long time because it hurt. I was on Percoset for a couple weeks and still on OTC pain meds regularly afterwards. And the gas pain! Oh my gosh, I needed a heating pad. The bypass recovery has been a walk in the park. Two nights in the hospital in which I happily took narcotics every time they were offered (though to be honest my pain level was really low... I just was enjoying the narcotics). Little to NO gas pain (maybe thanks to the drain the surgeon placed in the hospital?) and I was happily walking constantly while I was there. My surgeon sends all post-op bypass patients home on JUST OTC liquid Tylenol. They told me before the surgery and I thought it was crazy. I thought NO WAY will that be enough. And you know what? It was plenty! It really was! I only took it a few days. I'm still shocked. By 1 week post op I had NO pain other than a little incision soreness if I had my binder off and I rubbed them against something. I mean, other than chewing food, I'm 100% fine and I'm 10 days out. It's incredible.

    Binders

My surgeon puts them on all bariatric patients when the surgery is over so we wake up with them. He said to keep mine on for a month. It actually feels really good... when I take it off for a while I can feel my incisions painfully or uncomfortably rubbing up against stuff. With the binder on I feel nothing at all.
  13. I have a similar rash, I think from wearing the binder 24/7.

Y'all! I just bought myself an Instant Pot!

I just got one from Amazon too! It came today and I immediately made my family some rice pudding. So far so good.
  15. I'm only 1.5 weeks post-op, so still clear liquids. I put a splash of gravy in my chicken broth, ate some sugar-free Jell-O, and had not one bite of real food.
  16. Mine is way stricter than yours. Clear liquids and protein drinks only for the first 4 weeks, though I can add light or fat-free yogurt and sugar free pudding at 2 weeks post-op. Week 5 I can start purees, then week 8 I start soft foods.
  17. Yep, I had to do the same. My surgeon refuses to do the RnY on the same day as band removal because of all the scar tissue and adhesions that band patients have. It was tough to wait but my RNY surgery was totally smooth sailing so he must have known what he was doing

My band surgery vs. RnY surgery

Woohoo! I thought they were INSANE when they told me about the Tylenol. I'm so glad they were right!
  19. Let's be grumpy and miserable together! I'm 1 week past surgery and my surgeon doesn't allow any sort of foods until week 5. I'm still on the clear-liquids-and-diluted-protein-drinks train. I may or may not have been trying to figure out if gravy is a clear liquid...
  20. I survived the dinner! Mixed a little gravy in my chicken broth, had some sugar-free Jello, and ate not one bite of any of the deliciousness. Now I just need to make to through round 2: dessert.

    Surgery a success!

Mine was a piece of cake, and I went home only taking liquid OTC Tylenol for pain. Good job!

    Post op 12 hours

The dry sore throat was worse than the surgery pain for me!

    Sodium Intake

Adding a couple cups of broth instead of water will help your sodium intake!
