    Working Around the Fill Appointments

My doctor does fills every 2 weeks in the beginning so that banded patients don't need to suffer any more than they already are. I'm very thankful that he allows fills so close together. I'm sorry you have to wait so long. I don't see any medical reason to wait six weeks between fills.
  2. Gosh, I really don't know... I'm sorry!!

  3. Ha, how funny! I hope you're doing well :)

  4. I bought mine at Walgreens. They're chewable and the bottle was less than $5. Haven't had to use them yet... but I wanted to have them on hand in case.

long term bandsters, question for you

so... you guys are saying I'm too tight?
  6. You need to see your doctor to make sure you didn't slip. Such a big change after being sick really worries me. No, that's not really how it's supposed to be (there are a couple of links in my sig about "restriction").
  7. Have you had any sort of fill at all? Did your doctor put any saline in when you were banded? You definitely need to call your doctor and tell them you're not able to eat solids. This is a big problem. It doesn't necessarily mean slippage, but if you're that tight with no fill, there's something going on.

    1st fill of 5.1cc

My first fill was 4cc's, I think you're at a good spot for now. I think it's better to build up to your "sweet spot".

    First Fill

I think most surgeons put in empty bands, and don't add any fluid until the first fill. My first one was 4ccs- I can't guess how much yours will be

    very tired all the time.

Did your doctor tell you to do the 2 shakes/1 meal thing, or are you doing it in your own to lose more before surgery? I'm concerned that you're going to burn yourself out before you even get a chance to work your band. Your body needs to be strong and healthy for the surgery, and if you go into it exhausted, recovery is going to be really hard for you. I would pick ONE exercise to keep during your 2 week liquid diet. Either Zumba, or teadmill (or walking), or the upper body work- but not all three.

    very tired all the time.

Why are you having two shakes a day and only one meal? Are you pre-surgery?
  12. With ads like that, no wonder people think so negatively of WLS. Yes, dieting sucks. The ad implies that if you have a band you'll lose weight even when you jam giant bites of... whatever that food is in his mouth. I think the person who designed that ad should have to get banded and then swallow a huge mouthful of bread and whatever is in that sandwich

There's A Lap Band In There?

You're in the worst part! Once you hit mushy foods you should feel more satisfied... but it might take a while to get to a good fill level. Keep following your doctor's rules and think about how proud of yourself you'll be once you get through all of this

    Ground Beef

I was able to have it when I was moved to "mushy" foods... 3 weeks post op I think?
  19. When you eat, how long do you stay "full" for? If you're staying full for 4-5 hours after your cup of food, you're all set and don't need another fill. Food should always slide through within a minute of the bite

Lap Band Removed 2 weeks ago!

I don't have any advice or BTDT, just wanted to give you some support!

    hard time with not drinking

It's easiest if you just don't pour yourself a drink

    4th fill tomorrow

Spot, what happened?? Did I miss something?
  23. It's really geared more toward those who have had bypass or another similar surgery, whose pouches are now their entire stomach. People who that kind of surgery often do very well initially, then stretch their pouches which enables them to eat more and more. For us bandsters, our food passes through the band in a minute or less, so it's not really about how much our pouch can hold. But it IS a good way to detox if you've been going nuts on sugar or carbs lately, and of course, to get out of the habit of pigging out.

    Baked (NOT fried!) mozzarella sticks

Well... the breading is going to be the "problem" area, but in small amounts I don't think it'd be a problem. I agree with Cindy that they might be hard to get down, though!
