    *sigh*

Call the office. I had to self-advocate for almost every appointment I've had.
  2. I had my 1 month nutritionist appt today- long story but she didn't end up seeing me so I couldn't ask her any questions. My office's WOE seems incredibly strict and I am curious what others are able to eat or drink at this point. I'm attaching my diet... As you'll see at week 5 I can start having blended Soup, oatmeal/grits/cream of wheat/cottage cheese/mashed potatoes, "blenderized" fruit and pureed veggies.

    Curious question

The ProCare bariatric vitamins are "cheap" (under $15/month) and you only take one a day. They're chewable and honestly they don't taste great but for that price I don't care!

    Hunger

Did you have to do a pre-op diet?

Y'all! I just bought myself an Instant Pot!

No. It can slow cook but also heats up high enough to sear meats. You can use it the same as your stove top, plus it can steam and pressure cook, plus mine makes yogurt. It does other stuff too. It's handy!

    Curious question

Does your surgeon only recommend one particular brand? I'd be a bit concerned about that. I do the Flintstones too, and was told to avoid gummies and any liquid or chewable Calcium citrate is fine.

    Bored with liquids

I've been on clear liquids since 11/2... my surgeon requires them for 2 weeks before and 4 weeks after surgery (plus protein). I'm climbing the walls wanting to eat actual FOOD. No advice... Just sympathy.

    Binders

I used Benadryl cream under the binder and it was a huge help. Sort of like a girdle that wraps around your abdomen. Some surgeons require them, others don't.

What to bring to the hospital

It didn't hurt, but it pushed up against my parts every time I moved so I constantly felt like I needed to pee. After they took it out it was a little sore, but I was on good pain meds and it really didn't bother me at all.

What to bring to the hospital

I didn't use most of what I brought. My PJ pants were used once my catheter was out. I agree with lip balm & a phone charger. I used my own slippers but they gave me the nonslip socks so I really didn't need them. I brought a pillow but the surgeon requires the bed to be sitting up at all times so I couldn't really use it.

    Caloric intake goals?

The only "food" I can have until week 5 is applesauce (yuck), sugar-free Jell-O and pudding (yuck), and fat-free yogurt with no fruit pieces in it. I'd murder for some cottage cheese 4 more days!

Don't know how much more I can take

So glad you're finally being taken care of! Keep us updated.
  13. My surgery was 2-step but I had RnY and it was 6 months in between (3-4 for healing required by my surgeon). He said there's always a ton of scarring and adhesions with band removal and he insists it gets healed well before he'll do the second surgery.

Don't know how much more I can take

You should NOT be having to deal with this. None of this is normal. And your surgeon/surgeon's office refusing to take care of you- that's unacceptable. You could have aspirated the vomit and ended up in very, very bad shape. You need to make it clear to your surgeon's office that something is VERY wrong and you need to be seen ASAP, like tomorrow. Not next week. And if they don't listen, insist. Go to the ER if you need to.

    Advice Needed During Wait

I was right at 40 BMI when I started my program and was told to not lose or gain any weight. Easier said than done! After almost a year in the program, I was at 42 when they did the RNY.

    mental breakdown

Watch Food, Inc on Netflix. If nothing else it'll turn your stomach against junky food for a couple of days!

    Liquid diet

I had surgery on 11/16 and have a MONTH of clear liquids & protein drinks before I can move to purées. I feel your pain and frustration!

    Losers Bench

Congrats! I spent 2 nights in the hospital and went home with just liquid OTC Tylenol. I only took it a few times. Honestly the only pain I have is my incisions can be sore here and there. Recovery has felt like a piece of cake (other than the not eating part!)
  19. They didn't weigh me on surgery day. I wish they did.
  20. What does your surgeon say? This is NOT normal.

    Telling family/friends?

This is exactly what I've done with my revision from sleeve to bypass. I only told close family and a few friends about the band... word got around anyway. This time the ONLY people who know about the bypass are my husband and best friend. Those who knew about the band... I told them it caused internal damage and I had it removed, and surgically repairing that damage is why I'm on a restricted diet. People think WLS surgery is cheating. All the weight I lost with the band was MY work. The band never did anything for me. So I'm taking full credit this time.
  22. I really liked having different flavors of boullion so I could have broths- I am sooooo sick of sweet stuff.
  23. I'm 17 days out from bypass. My surgeon's WOE is very strict so I just moved up to Clear Liquids, Protein drinks, plus yogurt 4 days ago. Incidentally I also have woken up with a headache every day since the diet changed. I'm getting in at least 64 oz of (clear) liquids. Since I can't take ibuprofen and it's got to be something I'm missing in my diet, anyone have any tips? I'm averaging 500 calories a day, 60 g protein.
  24. Rachel412

    Any headache tips?

I do live in a cold area, and this is a good tip. Thanks!

And THIS is why I'm fat...

It really helps you to feel less shock when you're out of surgery and home and not eating. If you're using to just having liquids it's a bit easier on the brain.
