Who was your surgeon? Did you use someone in CT or go out of state? I had my surgery with Dr Timothy Ehrlich from Ehrlich Bariatrics. He is now performing surgery at Griffin Hospital in Derby. I had a wonderful experience with him.

I still get hiccups quite frequently especially when I am full. Even before surgery I think I got them more often than most people but it has gotten worse since the procedure.

16 Mos Out...disappointed
Chicadee replied to tntransplant06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't have any advice because different things work for different people I just waned to tell you that I know exactly where you are coming from however I am not disappointed. I started at 390 and was sleeved 13 months ago, I have lost 128 lbs so we are the same at 262 right now. Over the last few months I haven't been tracking anything, eating small amounts of pretty much anything i want and I haven't lost anything. I lost that 128 lbs without any exercise. I am now at a point where I know I have to exercise to go further. The sleeve is only our tool and in my opinion even if I never lost another pound it saved my life. I used a handicap sticker a year ago because my feet and ankles hurt so bad to walk and I got so out of breath I would have to take breaks walking into the office from my car. I no longer use my CPAP mask. We have the same goal, I want to lose at least 63 more lbs and I have come to the realization that I am gonna have to bust my bum to get there. My husband and I joined a gym last week. I am tracking what i eat even if it isn't so good and my calories have been hovering around 1400 a day this past week. I went to my first Yoga class today and it kicked my ass but I did it and I am so happy and feel great. I hope this is the boost I need to get the scale going in the right direction again. I didn't read all of the other posts here, i just skimmed them but I think lowering the calories a bit and changing up the exercises may get you going back in the right direction. I hope that is what it will do for me. Don't give up. You can do it!! -
Another first for me today. I went to my first Yoga class and did ok. need to work on my balance but that will come.

I had severe obstructive sleep apnea prior to surgery and I had no problems during surgery because of it. I did have to take my CPAP to the hospital with me so I could use it at night. Now with the weight I have lost so far I don't have to use the machine at all any more, it is permanently packed away in my closet. Good Luck.

I am in the same boat as you basically. I lost 125 pounds or thereabouts with little to no exercise at all and now I have been hovering around 265 up a few, down a few since January. I even have 3 months free at the YMCA and I have yet to go yet. I have been eating lot of wrong things all in small portions so I haven't gained anything back yet. I need to get myself moving and stop eating like an idiot. Good Luck to you and send some exercising energy my way!!

Mushy Food Shopping List
Chicadee replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made a big pot of beef stew beforehand and froze small portions of it. I thawed it out, threw it in the magic bullet and it was very nice to have a nice home cooked meal even though it was all mush. I tried the Pasta sauce and some ricotta cheese and it didn't agree with me at all. I think everyone's mileage will vary so try a bunch of different things and see what sits well with you. -
How Much Protein Is Required?
Chicadee replied to vampsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I much prefer the unjury chocoloate to anything else. It definitely helps me get to my protein goals each day. As long as I get 60 or more my doctor is ok with it. -
I am 10 months out from surgery and I still take Omeprazole(Prilosec) on a daily basis. I have tried to stop it a couple times before but I had to keep taking it. My surgeon said we will try again at my year anniversary and see if I still need it.

Side By Side / Before & Now Photos... Yayyy!
Chicadee replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you look wonderful. Thank you for sharing with all of us. You are an inspiration to us all I love this statement!! My doctor is always telling me that I need to lose faster, that my window is closing but I believe I will continue to lose at my own pace for as long as I need to. 120 DOWN, 80-120 to go we'll see where I end up!! Anything under 200 is excellent for me. -

I am in the middle. Finally I don't feel like I stick out like a sore thumb from everyone else. A picture I actually like for once. =) -
Watching Other People Overeat Grosses Me Out. What Is With That?!
Chicadee replied to Lisa821's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I notice myself marveling over the amount of food I see other people eat now and can't believe I ever ate that much AND more!!! I went out to lunch today with the girls in my department to Chipotle. I had never eaten there before and I knew I would end up with leftovers. Well if any of you have ever been there the burrito they make is monstrous. The burrito bowl is just as big. I could not believe my friend ate an ENTIRE burrito and she is not a heavy person, just a normal sized person but I looked at the size of that burrito and wondered exactly where she put the whole thing, is her stomach really stetching that big? Yikes.... I would have never thought twice about it before surgery. -
i received a package similar to this one as a gift from the New England service team at my company and I have to say it was great. We had burgers, fillets, sirloins, pork chops, twice baked potatoes and the chocolate lava cakes. I tried everything except the lava cakes and my husband said they weren't that great anyway. But all of the meat was awesome and the twice baked potatoes were good too.

I'm Never Ever Ever Eating Again!
Chicadee replied to Riss1908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first mushy thing I ate was a scrambled egg and only a couple bites of it. I have a love/hate relationship with eggs, sometimes they are great and others make me feel like I am going to be sick just looking at them. I hate greek yogurt and cottage cheese so those were a no go for me. Before surgery I made a pot of my homemade beef stew and froze very small portions of it. I put it through a blender and ate that heated up. Lots of flavor, something I had been craving. Lots of creamed Soups, cream of potato, mushroom, chicken were my favorites. Lots of mashed potatoes and since they were just small portions I made the small Betty Crocker packets instead of making them from scratch each time. Those have different flavors so it wasn't the same old thing every day. I also did the blended tuna w/mayo or chicken w/mayo. It took me awhile to really slow down and get used to the insanely small amount I was eating. -
I was sleeved in May and tried a sip of soda here and there and it didn't feel good. Last week i tried it again and if I pour it into a cup first (don't drink it out of a can or bottle) it is just fine, the bubbles don't bother me at all. I don't really care for the diet coke or pepsi taste anymore but I have taken a real liking to root beer. So I am going to allow myself to have some every once in awhile, diet of course.

Back in July, I had what they thought was a leak. It was 2.5 months after surgery which is a very RARE time to have one. For three days, I had a random stabbing pain on my left side under my ribs and every time I took a deep breath I felt sore inside. When I had my CT scan they did not see a leak but what appeared to be air surrounding my stomach, they think perhaps I had a pinhole (micro leak) that sealed itself. I believe typical leak symptoms would also include fever, nausea or vomiting, I didn't have any of these. I was admitted and given IV antibiotics in the hospital for 48 hours and they had me go back to the liquid diet for 2 weeks.

46lbs Down And They Didn't Notice?
Chicadee replied to his2my2our4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What was a real surprise to me was one of my Aunt's. She talked to me about it before I had the surgery. She had a bypass years ago and the doctor did a terrible job, she suffers every time she eats. They cannot fix what was messed up with her and she is thin, she hasn't gained any weight back so regain has not been a problem. I saw her and her husband and daughter at my other aunts house on Thanksgiving. She didn't say a single word to me about it and was almost acting standoff ish, it made me sad. My other aunt and uncle on the other hand raved about it. My uncle just kept saying, I can't believe how different you look over and over.
