  1. I had my first fill last Tuesday and thought it was not working. I had my surgery on 3/25/2011. I did great with my hunger until about my 3rd week and then I was so hungry. I got my first fill and I have been so hungry since the fill. It seemed no matter what I ate still was not satisfying me. Also, I could eat larger amounts that I did. Well, last night I had supper and I was so hungry and without thinking ate too fast and had the food stuck. So, I guess my band is now working. I threw my food up and this morning I threw up again. I am still happy that I had this surgery. I have lost 25 lbs since my surgery. I am so very proud of myself. I swore that I would not experience the food getting stuck, because I had read so much about it about what others have gone through. Well, it happened and it is not fun. I hope to not have it again, but I bet most lap banders have had it at least once.
  2. i had my first stuck of food last night. No fun at all. Mine happened with a piece of pork chop. It was very soft, but it was also my fault. I knew better to be eating too fast and I did and I upchucked it. I did not think my band was working. I had not felt it work until last night. I have been hungry ever since I got my first fill last Tuesday. Now, it feels like it is working. I has a piece of cheese this morning and then I had some of my protein shake. Lets just say my band was not crazy about the protein shake this morning. I threw it back up. I am sitting here now and I can drink the shake. This band thing is definitely trial and error. I am learning things that I did not know about it. I don't think that the doctors inform us of everything. I must say, I still don't want to go back the way I was, because I have lost 25 lbs. and I am proud of that. It seems so good to step on the scale and see the numbers go down instead of up now. I think all lap banders experience a food stuck one time or another. I said I was going to be careful so that it did not happen to me, well it did. I know what it feels like and I really don't care for another, but with my luck and being that I am still learning, it will probably happen again.

    Hi

I am from NC.I had my surgery on 3/25/2011. I have lost 21lbs. My doctor is Dr. Enochs.I am really doing good. I am on pureed foods this week and next week. Dr. Enochs also performed the newest procedure to go with my lap band and it is called Gastric Plication. Is there anyone else that have had this additional procedure to go with their lap band? Anyway, I am 3 weeks out and I am not having any problems, except one thing and I saw it mentioned on here and that is constipation. I am having plenty of water and such, but still having problems. Right after my surgery I had the diarrhea, but not now. I have gone from one extreme to the other. I know that is TMI, but I know this is not the first that you all have heard of anyone having this problem, because I saw it discussed in another area. I figured it is something that as I get to more solid foods that it will work itself out and I will be back to the way I use to be. Anyway, HELLO everyone and I am glad to be here!
