Hello all!
My name is Estefania Cantu, and I am currently 21 years old. I had lap-band surgery when I was only 19. I was considered morbidly obese, weighing 256 pounds at only 4'11 ft tall. I was told by my doctor, that at this rate not only was i border line diabetic but I would not have a very long or healthy life. We immediately set up my appointment and had surgery done March 31, 2011. I was wearing XXL shirts & a size 16/18 in pant size. I am not in XS-S shirts and a size 2/4 in pant size. Not only do I fit great in my clothing but I have very minor extra skin, and I feel so much healthier. Although this has been an incredible journey, it has been far from perfect. About a year after my surgery the incision where my port is got infected and I had to return to the hospital for a surgery in which the doctor would clean the infected area and re-stitch my scar. It has now been ANOTHER year and my scar never healed. On a daily basis since then I have yellow/green pus which drains from my wound and I am getting ready to go back in to surgery to have the port removed because my doctor believes it is the reason for my scar not healing, calling it a "foreign object rejection" which my body seems to be doing. I have had this incredible weight loss but have not been able to enjoy my body due to these port/scar issues. I am hoping once I have my surgery on Friday April 19, I will be able to heal quickly and enjoy my body. I will keep everyone updated on how this goes...:)
