Well, I spent 11 days losing nothing, finally lost 1 lb (which did bring me to 80lbs lost in 4 months. :-) but then two days later I am up 4 lbs. I'm not stressed, a stall is a stall, I have just stayed focused each time they come. But this one just feels different in how my body is responding. So I am gonna do about 5 days yogurt and protien shakes and even more liquid intake and see if that will shake things up, or, well, down in this case. :-)

Going back on liquids for a week
pasquini replied to pasquini's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Sounds like u have a good idea there. I have been a bit burned out on the whole intense focus lately, so last week I just kinda didn't worry about anything, I'm gonna do the liquids for several days and then I will add back in my regular foods and hopefully see some progress. -

To be honest the sleeve has been a magic wand (or tube as in this case for me. I have been overweight my entire life. I understand nutrition extremely well, have eaten Clean for over a decade, worked out, did all that, but couldn't lose weight. I am 10 days short of 4 months since the sleeve and I am down 79 lbs. For the first time in my life when I try I actually lose weight. And truthfully it has been easy! And I am thrilled about that. What other freaking area in life do we purposely look for the harder way out? I don't need the hard way to build character. I have put up with skinny people all my life without breaking too many of them, :-) I've done my character building the hard way!!! So has the sleeve been easy? Yes for me it has, not that it doesn't require work and effort. But I have worked much harder in the past with no results so it feels like magic!! When we have done the diets and struggled to lose two lbs and regain it and try harder and harder with no results and yet keep trying, THAT is the hardest!!! So, now, to make clean food choices and exercise and see the lbs actually drop, and keep dropping? Wow! It does feel easy!!! Even those of you who have lost slowly or even at a stall, I say heck yeah!!!! To you. You are losing!! And if your in a temporary stall your not gaining!! That is also success when you walk in our shoes. The journey has it's hard parts, most of the mental, but it has it's rewards that for us who understand, are beyond most things we have even dreamed about. So, I say chin up. Celebrate the parts that are easy! There are enough hard things to deal with. Revel in the new you, dream new dreams, never look back we have soo much joy ahead in this journey. Life is good, and the easier the better!!!! Love all you on this journey! May your dreams not even come close to how good it really is! GodSpeed

I was at a friends little ones bday party. They own a coffee shop soothe party was there during off hrs. So I was behind the counter making espresso and I hear my friend say "that's Pasquini" I look up a a woman who I have known for about 9 yrs, though I generally only see her a few times a yr. Is standing there talking to my friend and she says, "who?" my friend replies again, and she stares at me and then says "Oh MY God!!!! Wow, now if you want to reinvent yourself THAT is how to do it!" and goes on for a while about it to my friend. About 30 min later I hear my friend laugh and say "that's Pasquini, you know him. Yes you do, (mentions my kids names) no really" and laughs. some more. :-). A good moment

You have done fantastic! It is interesting as I lose more I have become more "do I wanna tell them how". But I have stuck to my guns. I started this convinced it would work and wanting to be able to hopefully inspire/encourage others that may "need" this tool also. So I share how and make no appology :-) I love the inside me matching the outside me!!

How long before you stopped losing weight
pasquini replied to Loooou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are all in starvation mode with this surgery. Lol that's the point. Howeve one can get so low in the caloric intake department that the body stops expending any cals it can. Here are some things I wondered for you. You mention you are working out, what are u doing. Cardio or strength training? If you are doing weight training to build muscle I suspect that is part of your issue. When we work out to build muscle we are creating micro-tears in our muscle fibers, to repair these our body needs 1-1 1/2 grams of protien per pound of lean body mass per day. So very few of us get that much Protein. The other factor is that our bodies cannot synthesis protien in to muscle tissue without carbs, they are required in the process to repair muscle. My point is, it is possible that one could put themselves in a situation where the exercise is actually counter productive, where muscles are damaged (normal process of weight training) but can not recover, and In a weakened state are burning less calories, creating a situation where our metabolic rate actually decreases. This would leave you with ingesting to many calories for what you are burning, but eating less cals would not fix it, as it would likely cause your body to retain everything it possibly could. So I would think if you are working out with weights, then it might do you good to take a few weeks off, focus on 1000 cals a day with 75-100 grams of carbs and 60-100 grams protein. If this is the reason, that will allow your muscles to heal completely. If you are indeed at a set point, then if you gained a few lbs that could actually take u above your set point and trigger you body to start losing again once your muscles have healed. Hope this is helpful, if your not strength training, and it doesn't apply, then I still say increase your carbs and let your body rest and see If that helps. That will not hurt anything -
Coffee was on my clear liquid list. Wantin to obey the rules I had my gist cup on day 4. :-) I have a double shot cap every morning. According to the VA nutritionist (I'm not a patient there, but my sister is a psychologist there and asks her dr friends questions for me.) I can have all the coffee I want but can not count it toward my daily fluids. It is basically a wash. But will not cause me to lose fluids. Assuming I am not only drinking coffee :-)

So Sunday at church a friend and I are talking about how my weightloss Is effecting areas of my life and another acquaintance walks up and says, "wow you are looking great! What have you been doing?" So I tell him I had wls, so he says "oh, well you look good, but I don't believe in that". So I simply looked him in the eye and said, yeah, that's often how those who have not taken the time to actually be inform about it feel, kinda like not believing in sending a cancer patient to a doctor" smiled and continued my conversation. After a few minutes he says' " well u look great, and I suppose like you said I really am not informed about it, I suppose I should be if I'm gonna comment. So I just replied that while like other medical proceedures it is not the right path for everyone, and each person has to come to their own decision about it and what is best for them.
